So, on TV this a.m., They're going to delay the DTV changeover because PEOPLE AREN'T READY !

They say 6 million peolpe are going to loose their signal because they aren't prepared.

If you only watched a half hour of TV in the last year, you've had to see that this is coming at least 5 times.
It's on every channel every 5 minutes.

I've been anxiously waiting for the changeover just to get away from this crap.

Now, I understand why there's more paid programming infomercials on in the daytime.

Ah shit, I need to head to the store and buy a flat screen TV! Maybe a spare one too just to be extra ready!

I think actually they were concerned they hadn't given out enough free coupons, or not all of them had been used. Which is stupid. Short of having obama deliver it to everyone's house and hook it up for them, it's not going to happen.

I don't even watch tv.

I have the receives/HDTV's.

Now if the broadcasters would just crank up the power on the DTV channels I'll be happy.

One way to get them ready right away is to change the signal. They'll be down to Best Buy, Walmart, CVS, RadioShack and the other retailers faster than a recipient can cash a welfare check.

As a life long procrastinator all I can say is you are spot on. Switch it now. I don't care anyway, I got Dish.

What is this "DTV changeover" you speak of?

Can someone explain to me why this is even necessary to do now. I don't watch a lot of TV which is why I must be one of the few Americans in the dark right now. I've heard about this since last April, but I have no idea why its happening. What's the purpose of this switch over (Serious question)?????

I think they're trying to clear up that frequency band for other usage. Also the networks currently broadcast in both digital and analog, so it's costing them more in infrastructure; they want one medium.

But all the electronics retailers are jumping on the bandwagon and telling people they need to buy a new high-def flatscreen tv, and implying their current TV won't work. Which is untrue for 99% of the population.

Ahh.. I see. I didn't really understand it for the longest time, and was never given a proper explanation. Thank you for clearing that up.

My mother was just hassling me about needing a flatscreen because of all the commercials she's seeing about this. I said her mitsubishi tube TV from 1992 was fine.

She wouldn't listen to me, so I found it easier to just pick out a flatscreen for her. Now she can watch her 480 resolution cable on a 1080 TV and wonder why the picture looks worse than before. Ever try changing the resolution on your laptop away from the native resolution? Same thing, only magnified by 4x because of the big screen.

Oh well. No skin off my back (or wallet).

Doesn't just about everyone have cable, Dish or something similar ? If all you have are rabbit ears on your T.V. you won't miss much if you can no longer watch it. I agree though, switch the signal and watch how fast the idiots get ready.

Well I just hit 2 local CircuitCities and bought 2 DVR's, not TiVo which comes with an aggreement, with Digital tuners.

The TV's are still up there.
I actually caught the salesman telling someone they jacked the prices up before they lowered them

I'll watch the closure date, kinda like eBay, before I pick up one cheap

OK, it's just been voted down! They won't extend the Feb. 17th deadline!!!!!

WHY?

They don't want to "confuse the consumers"

Isn't it amassing what the people in Washington think of everyone else?

I'm still trying to explain to my mother the concept of a single remote for both the TV and the tuner box.

Guess I should have kept it separate.

So is it February or June?

Why does the president give a shit? I guess he thinks the whole country will go to hell in a handbasket if Timmy from the ghetto can't tune into Barnie & Friends tomorrow.

Without TV, he'll need his parents to raise him.

And if they stay home to do that, who will be on the street corner to push speedballs and crackwhores for the rest of us?

Can't watch TV - bad for the brain.

I [watch] my local 6:00PM newscast on the radio simul-cast.

Why? I have NO CLUE. What do they do?

Pimp their website - up to 6 times in the :30 minute broadcast.
Tell us about scam emails.
Tell us how to live healthful ways.
Tell us what fugitives to watch out for.
Tell us how to save money.
Tell us how to drive carefully in bad weather.
Tell us about workplace safety.

Big Brother is gettin' big, and strong.

This 'morph' has evolved in the last 10 years or so. In 10 more, the local news will be a daily reading of the law, and who the fugitives are. Bank it.

Prophet OUT!

Moved back to June. Apparently some folks can't afford the converter box. Maybe they should start a digital TV donation and resource center through FEMA.

Not through FEMA, and it's converter boxes, but they are.
