Got up this morning and found that some of the drywall mud still hadn't dried completely. We've had rain the past 2-3 days so it's no real surprise with the humidity. Hopefully later this afternoon it's good for a sanding. Then I can get a second coat on. Oh, the joys of drywall sanding...

Looks good Matt, I remember when my kitchen looked like that.

IIRC, there was more than one empty beer bottle on the countertop though.

Been trashing on the race car, headed to the track for 3 days on Thursday.

Looks like my Congressman is racing his GT1 Camaro this weekend.

Had to change gear ratios for 2ond, 3rd and 5th. Always fun since the upper stack of gears is loose and has to be slid over the mainshaft that's in the gearbox housing. Hard to keep the gears from falling on the floor.

It's moving right along, Matt. The best way to get to the finish line is to start.

I'm up and getting ready to get to it. Think I'll work on the shed today. I don't work on it everyday. Yesterday I did this and that kinda jobs because I just didn't have a lot of motivation. Press on, gurus. There are things that need to get done. If you don't have ANYTHING to do I'll be glad to put you to work. There will be none of this around here ...

Greetings! Cool and drizzly here, looks like a delightful day for golf. If this keeps up, I'm hoping for a cancellation and a nap.

Lookin' good, Matt!

Stay dry, Gurus!

Good Morning CGs!

It is pouring rain out there today. Which of course reminds me I was supposed to caulk one of the windows outside because it was leaking last time it rained. Oops. Forgot about it. I'll have to check it later to see if any water got in today. I need to make a trip to HD today, so I'll get some caulk later.

The granite installers were here yesterday to measure. I have to remove the dishwasher for them (no problem) and cut one access hole in the cabinet top, but other than that the cabinets are prepped. They will be here Thursday to install.

I made good progress on the drywall yesterday. Finished the last little demo and got the sheetrock up. I also fixed the gas line and changed the two electrical box faces that I needed to. I even got my first coat of joint compound up. It's finally starting to look like we're getting somewhere. That was about 12 hours yesterday with a couple of short breaks.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

I met her and Dave at Sebring a number of years ago.

They were quite the team. She was a real sweetheart.

She will be missed...

From Dave, posted by Mike Yager this morning:

"To our Corvette Family, Glenda passed away Friday morning after battling a diagnosis from last August of stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She was her cheery and upbeat self right up to the last day. Glenda and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary February 6, 2015. We have been best pals and a loving couple for as long as we’ve know one another which was for 53 years and 3 months. She was unique and cannot be replaced. She will be so missed, yet she was happy and ready to meet the Lord."

That is one nasty looking cloud, Ken. Happy birthday though! Just got back from taking #1 out for her birthday lunch...she chose Chipolte. It was good, I had no trouble eating the "whole burrito".

Busy weekend. Saturday morning I headed over to PA to mow my Mom's lawn and deliver her Mother's Day present. She got what she wanted, a gift card to her local grocery store. Then I headed back to the Buckeye state for some sprint car racing. Buddy of mine lives a few miles from the track said,"The weather is nice here." Check out the picture to see what the weather was really like. Nice weather, my ass.

Sunday, The little blind woman and I headed up to Cleveland for my birthday dinner. Really nice seafood place called Don's Lighthouse. I had lobster and she had a tuna dish. Took a while to get the meal, the waitress said they were making me a new lobster tail since the first one they cooked didn't look "appropriate." I'm thinking,"Hmmm, an inappropriate piece of tail."

I have no experience with them, yet.

They state that the facility is ISO qualified.

And for higher dollars, they will build you one in the U.S.
Plus the reviews are good.
We'll see when I get mine.

"While our radiators are manufactured in China, hence the low price point, they are designed in the U.S. If an American made radiator is preferred instead, please call us for availability. There will be a price difference to accommodate the American labor being put into it. A standard 2-row is $169.98, and an American made 2-row with 1" tubes is $279.98"

Still a good price.

Went to celebrate a nice combined Mother's Day brunch over at Sue's first cousins house. The cousin and wife are nearing completion on a complete remodel of a home they bought on a lake. Really nice. They are minimalists so the floor plan is open and most clutter has been eliminated. (Unlike our home). He's a tech geek so it has all kinds of novelties and all custom. They employed the services of a professional interior designer to meet their goals and objectives. Really nice place with an open deck that goes to the edge of the lake complete with fountain, pool and hot tub. There is a dock as well. Nice place to spend the morning. and early afternoon. We left around 3:00 to go to a previously planned event. That event was Sue and I going to the Miccosukee Casino where Sue could play poker while I waited for her and played the slots. That's what she got for Mothers Day. Some time at the table. She was up $350 by the time we left I was down $120. I got ripped off big time. I had 7 Direct Hits that should have paid me around $200. A machine malfunction had the payment at $40. Vulcan bullshit. As you know, in casinos, management is not responsible for machine malfunctions. I will NEVER play that bank of old machines again. Matter of fact I may NEVER play at Miccosukee again. Instead I'll go to the Seminoles a little farther up the road or to one of the paramutuels where they also have bigger, better casinos> I'm sure they will be more than happy to take my money .......

IT'S RAINING ON THE CHEROKEES, AND ON THE CHOCTAWS, CREEKS, AND CHICKASAWS. THE RAINFALL PATTERN SEEMS TO BE REVERTING TO WHAT IT WAS WHEN I MOVED FROM OKLAHOMA TERRITORY TO THE NATIONS. WEBBED FEET MAY COME BACK INTO FASHION.

AND IN CLOUD-CUCKOO LAND THE RUSSIANS ARE NOTED TO BE BUILDING UP AND MODERNIZING THEIR ARMED FORCES WHILE THE US ARMY AS FALLEN BELOW PRE-WWII LEVELS. NOT TO WORRY: THE ARMY HAS MORE LAWYERS THAN EVER IN HISTORY AND WE’LL SOON HAVE FEMALE INFANTRY TO PROTECT US.

ALSO A WORD TO THE UNWISE: DON'T POINT TOY GUNS AT A MAN WITH A REAL ONE.

Marcus, your darling wife must have forgotten too or did she mention "Happy Anniversary".Then the proper well executed bluff could have been employed and you could have returned the "Happy Anniversary". Next, the "Today I have too much on my plate but tomorrow I was thinking we could go out and celebrate with a nice dinner." I didn't forget honey, we're just gonna celebrate it tomorrow." could be employed and "The Freeze" possibly lifted. Or not ........

Morning guys....It's overcast today and they are predicting rain. Most of the grands are off to school already. Had to move the Corvette so daughter could take three of them to school, and GS#6 (not in school yet) wanted to ride in the "race car" so I loaded him up and took him around the block while daughter left to take the others to school. To say the least he was excited. Start them early.

Today is #1 daughter's birthday...this is a big one, 40. Hard to believe she is that old, she's still my little girl. Today she is taking us to see the quartz she picked out for the new counter top for the kitchen I'll be doing for her starting this week.

Marcus, I hope you were able to dig yourself out of the hole you dug.

Howdy! I could use another weekend day just to get caught up on chores, but nooooooooooooooo. Meanwhile it looks like a cooler and wetter week ahead. The dusty Vette is in the garage - lots of residue from all the Canadian fires has been in the air the past few days.

Have a good day, all!

Good Morning CGs!

Sounds like everyone had a nice Mother's Day. I ended up getting three bouquets of flowers. Funny how that works out. But they were all happy so that's all that matters.

Cool and rainy here today. This weather has been really uncooperative the past few weeks (months?). A side note is that due to the rain the backyard plants and trees look great and are growing well.

Slow progress on the kitchen. I was hoping to have all of the drywall out and new stuff up today for the granite guy. He texted my wife yesterday and said he'd be here at 10 am to measure, I was expecting more like 5 pm. Oh well, he can still do it in the state it's in.

Marcus, good luck with your anniversary faux pas.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

What I found out today, for sure, is that Corvettes don't melt in the rain. I even had one of my grandsons to go check it out for me. We've probably had 1 1/2 to 2 inches today.

Happy forgotten anniversary, Marcus!

Had a whirlwind weekend, nice time up at my son's place yesterday, a fine brunch this morning, then drove back home this afternoon, unpacked the truck, then went to dinner with the rest of the family. I am stuffed. Meanwhile, the Twinkies just can't quite seem to get the worst record in the major leagues - Atlanta isn't cooperating.

Hope y'all had a good weekend!

I have the DeWitts... this was after the OEM radiator died, replaced with another GM radiator, that lasted all of 3 years before the seals on the side tank went south.

At the time, the GM replacement radiators were selling for about $200 each... and if they lasted only 3 or 4 years, lets get a real radiator and be done with it. So I did... a DeWitts. It was about $495 for a manual trans LT1.

Champion, if they existed, I was unaware of them then. Then, by the way, was 10 years ago.

AFAIK, no issues with the DeWitts.

My only concern, is that the Champion rads are made in China... I don't know what this does for durability.

Well, it's turned out to be a very rainy Mudders Day. The rain has set in here. #1 and SIL are doing supper tonight with his parents as well as us and the kids. #3 and her family are doing supper with her MIL. SIL is going to try and grill for us.....not sure how that will work, but maybe he has it figured out.

Rosie and #3 have put a huge dent in the cleaning and de-cluttering procedure. Getting closer to having the house ready to show.

Well, the weather has turned cloudy today. We've been over at #2 s house helping with getting the house ready for them to put it on the market. I was working outside, then it started sprinkling, so that put an end to that. So I came in and started listening to the Royals. We were ahead when I started , now it appears that we want to give this one away as we gave them 3 runs in the 5th. Let's hope they make a come back.

GOT A DEWITT'S IN THE '87, THOUGH I SURE DON'T RECOLLECT PAYING $560 FOR IT. GOT A CHAMPION THREE TUBE IN THE '95 THAT THE PO HAD PUT IN. I CAN TELL NO DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE.

Thanks for the info guys.
I have a decent sense of respect for the folks on this forum, so I think I'm gonna go with the Champion. At that price it's just too hard to ignore even if I have to jump thru a couple hoops.
If I had the coin to go with a BeCool or DeWitts I'd do it, but the extra $300 will go nicely towards some mufflers and other expenses that come up with projects.

We had haze from those gires too. And we could smell the smoke. Rosie kept asking, "Is there a fire around here?"

Had a long day in the truck yesterday.....left at around 7:30 in the morning an got home at 11 last night..........I had a blast. Had the Rowdy Yates old gold country radio program going and he was playing some classics as I was staring at the world thru the windshield....a prisoner of the highway..... Had the window down last night it was so nice out.....I am walking wounded today though.....

Oh yeah...completely forgot my anniversary........I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer......things are a little cool around here this morning.....dangit.....what's the matter with me......I will try and throw money at it and see if that helps......hmmm.....

It was so smoky here yesterday from those Canadian fires that we had to run with our lights on out on the highways......crazy amount of smoke from a long way away........big fires....

Today I must mow the acreage before it rains again.....grass is growing like weeds.......

Enjoy your day Guru's........keep the shiny side up.....
