Morning gurus.....I spent yesterday in meetings all morning and then again in the afternoon. We (the VocEd dept) are in the middle of redefining our programs and transitioning to "pathways" from the old VE2 crap. What I am finding out is I need to teach about 8 different classes, only problem is we have a 7 period day and by law I get a "planning period", so that means I'm not spread thin enough.....what BS. More crap because the Federal & state govt have gotten their hands into the education system and f@*ked it up royally.

First and second periods over. So far so good, kids are pretty mundane thus far. They really don't have a chance to say much the first day or two. The weather here is just perfect, looking for highs in low 80's and a little breeze. Hope you have a great Weds.

Erin, when I bought tires for my C5, I found that the Michelins were actually cheaper than the Kumhos. Speaking comparable tire for tire. If you live that close to TireRack, I'd certainly go down there and pick their brains.

BTW, I love my Michelins.

good evening.....I started once today to post, but got pulled away and never got back. School starts in earnest tomorrow, kids show up before 8am, so I hope that things run smoothly. I'll try to check in tomorrow morning.

Thanks Tommy.....but I'm a realist, even the guys I'm playing with sandbag some, they'll come back next Monday and shoot 4-6 strokes better. I'll do my best, but I'm figuring that I've just donated.

Ron, that sounds like a very profitable afternoon. We had mens night tonight, but this week is the first night of the club championship. So that means we don't play a scramble, but play our own ball for the round. Then next week they flight us according to our score this week. Well, I played the best round I've played in more than three years....sounds great, but that means I'll be playing with guys way above me next week, talent wise and I've just donated $40 to someone else. Two of the guys I played with tonight that I beat, will play guys I should be playing. I just can't sandbag. Even though I knew I was play out of my league tonight, I just couldn't "take a dive". Me and my dam* principles.

See you guys tomorrow!

Morning gurus.....late for me, but Ive had meetings all morning, so this is my first time at the computer. Our new Supt. is not the depressing speech giver the last one was. I'm almost looking forward to school this year. I left the district wide meeting in a good mood....last year I left mad and cussing, ready for retirement. Well, I did retire, but I'm back by choice and things look better with new leadership. Middle-schoolers are difficult to gain attention, but adults are much worse, the best to you today Brad. AAAHHH runzas, now you're making me hungry.....As for the "big butt", I've gotten past that, because of the perks we get because of it. Many are painting the lower recessed section right above the exhaust pipes black (similar to the way the C6's are from the factory) to reduce the "big butt" appearance...seems to work reasonably well.

Well, I got to run. Have a great day!

I'm a bit younger than Ron, I'm a late-comer to teaching and started only in 79. I have meetings for next couple of days and then I have kids Weds.

Our new Supt. bought a house just down the street from me, and today as they were walking to church (I've got the Corvette out cleaning it up), he hollers at me "Are you ready for school to start?". I answered "If I'm not, do I have to come in tomorrow?" He said "Yes" so I told him "I guess it really doesn't matter then does it?"....We both laughed.

Hey Erin, I've got a daughter who graduated in 2000. See, Ron and I have lots in common. Yea, kids act differently, but in reality, kids are kids, and have been for at least the 30+ years I've been teaching. The thing that has changed most is the government stepping in, telling us how and what to teach. I'll be ready tomorrow, come hell or high water.

Good morning gurus....I went to bed late last night. Stayed up watching the Royals playing a double header with the White Sox. Fridays game got rained out, so the umpires decided to play a double header last night...started the first game at 6:10. First game went to 11 innings and the second game didn't start until after 10pm, I fell asleep in my chair before the game was over, I don't even know who won....Chicago, I'd guess, they were ahead when I fell asleep.

I was really tired anyway from golf yesterday, the team didn't play that well (didn't expect to), but I made good contact with the ball and hit the ball very well.

Rick you're up later than me! Pete, have a safe trip home. Brad, don't go and get too much done the wife will begin to expect it . Bill.....WAKE UP! LOL Matt, have a nice run, I think I'll veg out here today.

Need to clean the dust off the Corvette as I took it to golf yesterday and drove down a dusty road to the course, that's my plan for today. You gurus have a great day.

Morning guys...Not much here today. I'm up, sort of. Better get use to getting up at this time as Monday the grind starts again. I get to play golf in our league faculty tournament. It's not a serious tourney, just a get together to have some fun at the beginning of a new year. A good way to spend the Saturday.

I hope everyone here has a great Friday.

Good morning. Not much here today. The days are winding down until school starts next week. Wife is off today and is going to help me install a cabinet. Might go grocery shopping.

Sounds like Erin is a bit more like you than my daughters are of me. I've got a couple who will change oil in their vehicles, wash them, and are motivated, but unfortunately, two of them are a bit more liberal than I, one way liberal. Me, I'm pretty conservative.

Don, I hope that Bill recovers quickly and that they can either fix his car to his satisfaction or they total it, so he can get another. BTW we have the same last name, I doubt though that we are related.

Welcome aboard, Erin.....Your dad is quite the character, I'm afraid that I have a bit in common with him. I'm assuming that you take after your dad about the way my daughters take after me........spooky thought.

Ron, have you tried a bit of mineral spirits? Shouldn't hurt the paint.

Well, to be honest, I'm not sure what the law says about cameras during school time in Kansas. Maybe it's the same here, IDK.

They are talking about 6 cameras to cover my shop and classroom....WTF????? I have a feeling they are trying more to catch the teachers doing something rather than the kids.

They are talking about putting security cameras in our school...what a waste of money (in our case). We don't have problems, per se, with gangs, fights or big time theft. They want to spend over a million dollars to keep someone from stealing a $200 router out of the shop. What gives? We have staff meetings starting Monday and we have kids Wednesday.

Good morning gurus...Got in from Mens night, didn't play very well, but played OK. I worked on the cabinet and got it together, then in the afternoon I changed out the shocks on the Corvette. I bought some 2010 Z06 shocks, for a little more control. They are definitely larger in diameter than the stock base suspension ones on the 01. While the wheels were off, I detailed the wheel wells, cleaned them real good and sprayed them with Adams Invisible Undercarrige spray. And I cleaned the wheels too. Cleaned the inside barrels, and waxed them. Today I have a new console cover to install. I have ordered new sway bar end links, but they haven't come in yet.

I skinned up my shin yesterday working on the shocks...seems like I always do something, so I can relate Matt. Brad, I hope your golf is better than mine was. Tommy, cheap and good is a hard combo to find, good luck with your search.

Back home feels good. Matt, better get used to it, they'll use any excuse whatsoever. TOMMY, wake up! LOL Brad, we're having the same weather as you. It's very nice this morning, and is supposed to be seasonably cool all week, we'll see.....

I have a project to build this week...I may as well get to it today. I also have some work on the Corvette that I want to do, so I have my day planned out.

You guys have a great day.

Hey guys, I'm back at home. A 6 hour drive in cool weather was not what I was expecting...not complaining. Once home, I unloaded the car, and then got it washed and back into the garage. It's nice to go away for a few days, but it's always nice to get back home. I have all week to finish some stuff before I have to be back in school. I hope that your luck changed today Tommy, and I hope that everyone had a great day.

While at Silverton, the narrow gauge railroad came into town. It runs from Durango to Silverton.

Yea, I enjoyed thoroughly it was a 275 mile round trip. Matt, you asked if there were any scary parts....you'd have to ask the wife. There were about 6 times she was leaning toward me or telling me how close we were to the edge, so I guess, yes there were some tense moments. That third picture is a taste of the drop offs.

The trip up along the “Million Dollar Highway” today was well worth it. I’ve been down the “Tail of the Dragon” in Tennessee, and this road is every bit as good. The “Tail” is 13 miles or so, the “Million Dollar” is 50+. The scenery is excellent. There are places where there is no guardrail and over the edge it’s 700-800 feet straight down…..pretty exciting at times. Like the “Tail”, you had better be on your toes, as the switchbacks come upon you very quickly. Much of the 50+ miles that are exciting are also up above 10,000 feet in elevation.

I highly recommend this drive. The best parts are from about 25 miles south of Silverton and all the way up to Ouray, about 25 miles north of Silverton. You go over three high passes Molas Pass 10,910, Coal Bank pass south of Silverton at 10,660, and Red Mountain pass south of Ouray, at 11,018 14,000 foot peaks are everywhere. It is quite an impressive drive

On the way to Durango we went by Chimney Rock, Stopped long enough to take this shot.

Some of the rugged terrain, fantastic geology!

This is the way that you wind down into Ouray.

Good morning guys. The daughter and her family are getting ready to head home. Shortly thereafter, we are heading west to make a run up the "Million Dollar Highway". I will try to get some pictures posted. Have a great day guys.

Had a little thunderstorm here last night. My SIL was trying to get some pictures of the lightning, so I took my camera out and showed him how to do it.

Morning guys.....I actually slept in a bit this morning 7:30 MT (8:30 body clock). Not much planned this morning...daughter and her family are going on a hike. I actually slept with the heavy spread on last night, and it's cool this morning. Ron, did she let you drive it? I bet it was a kick.

I hope everyone can stay comfortable in the heat today.

Good morning guys....I'm up and ready to head out to the mountains today....in about 10 minutes. Don, that sucks about your friend. He has the same last name as me...I doubt we are related...at least not very close. Hope he finds good news about his car. Brad, glad the tires impressed, my game wasn't too good either this past Monday. Tommy, sounds as though you are feeling better, that's good, but don't over-do. Matt, spend a buck for me!

Well. I don't know what the internet is going to be like where we are going, so I'll check in when I can. Have a great day.

Ron, you surely are a jack of all trades....scuba too! I guess that came with the military training. I'm sitting here at school, trying to get a few things done....but more just putting in time (Have to put in two days of flex time before school starts).

I've worked on a couple of computers the last two days, that fairly lucrative as well.

This afternoon I'll go home and swap the cars around. Then start loading the Corvette for our trip to the mountains. We'll be up there for 5 days returning Sunday.

Hope everyone is OK, beings the daily chat is late start and not much activity.

Morning guys....Last evening we went to "Dinner for Smucks", funny, but not all that great, It was a nice evening. Got up a bit late this morning, went in to the restaurant to have breakfast. We will be headed home pretty soon. Need to get a bit more serious about getting ready for going to the mountains on Weds, and need to go to school this afternoon.

Too bad you're getting so old, Tommy, I'm glad I'm not that old. All of my parts still work fine......

Hope you all have a great day.

I had some of those in my 56 BelAire except, if I remember correctly, mine were 1/2" drive. It didn't ride too good before, so there really wasn't any comparison on ride quality.

Back in those days we wanted the car to ride high....had to jack them up....air shocks in the back.

Good morning....we have a house full here, at least for a couple more hours. Oldest daughter and family headed for the mountains later. The wife and I are headed over to the "city" for a nice Sunday brunch, a movie and a nights stay. Our 35th anniversary is tomorrow. On Weds we are headed out to the mountains as well. I need to start thinking about what to take and how to pack the Corvette.

We are going to try and take a little tour drive while out there. Going to drive up the "Million Dollar Highway". It's about an hours drive from our condo unit to Durango where we can head north on the MDH and then it's another 60-70 north to Ouray. I'll try to take some pictures.

Morning guys.....I stayed up late watching the Royals get the poop kicked out of them. But I'm up now. Not much planned for today, I need to go see some folks about building them a cabinet in their bathroom. And then later my oldest and her family will be here as a stopping point on their way to Colorado. Weds the wife and I will go out as well.

Bill you rarely do things half assed

You guys have a great Saturday.

Well, I ended up going to school and working a bit. I have two "flex days" to get in before school starts, so I decided today was a good one to get one in.

Good morning Gurus......Nothing planned here today. The grandsons are spending the day with their dad, so it will be quiet here. I got all my little jobs done around for the wife and others, so I have a lazy day. It's been raining here this morning so I have the house open. It feels so good to open and let the fresh air in. Supposed to be back in the 100's tomorrow and through the week. I'm looking forward to Weds. as we (the wife and I) are headed to the mountains for a few days. Monday is our 35th anniversary, Sunday I am taking the wife over to a fancy restaurant and then we have a reservation for the night in the motel....might be a good thing as the meal will probably include some adult beverages.

I hope everyone has a great Friday.

Just another brick in the road......I haven't been able to get in on any of the stimulus....why, you might ask? Because I didn't overextend myself, I lived within my means, even if that meant that I didn't get the best or I did without. What a crock of sh!t.

I damn sure am offended. Just like those Credit Card deals, because I choose to live within my means, I pay for it....it's total BS.

Ron, you guys up there have been getting nailed day after day. It's got to let up soon. We, actually, could use some rain. Congrats to your daughter, I'll bet she got a good deal, and I'm sure that she'll enjoy the car, I would.

Going to cool off here today but be back into the 100's by Saturday. I have a few things to do around here today.

I hope that everyone has a great Thursday.

Sounds like a hell of a deal to me....even if she has to put 5-6k into it, she's at less than 20K.
