Spongy brake peda syndrome, had it too. It was air in both the lines and the MC which was bled separately. Give it a shot with the speedbleeders, makes it painless. Bled the MC on the car same way you would brakes. Have someone give it a pump or two and crack the line open. Right before the fluid stops coming out tighten it back up and repeat. Not a scientific approach but worked for me..

Bleeding should be first on your list. Use a good synthetic (Valvoline).
Purchase a set of "Speed Bleeders" to make the proceedure a snap.
If the above doesn't work, your next step might be new pads. Hawk HPS pads have been used with great results.

Inspect your rotors, make sure they are in good shape.

If your pedal goes to the floor after the bleed, you might need a new or rebuilt master cylinder.

Good luck.

The economy looks somewhat shakey.

Stock markets were weak, around the world.

Credit crunch...started by subprime mortgages and creaping everywhere.

Congressional leaders will meet with the President. They will try to overcome partisan differences to agree on an economic stimulus plan.

OK you ask, where is the good news. Not here yet.....

Have a great day. :thumbleft:

At 8:15 the Fed just dropped fed funds .75 basis points....they meet on Jan. 30th. They couldn't wait another 8 days?

At times, i wish i never did smoke, cause i didnt start it til i was 21 or 22, and before that, i was extremly fit, very strong, and i could accelerate to 35mph on a mountain bike as quick as alot of cars can do it (broke a fair few very good Shimano chains in those days, which was far more expensive than smoking). I had legs almost as big as my waiste is now.

Anyway, i really enjoy a good strong cigarette, and love cigars. I roll my own cigarettes and it costs under $10 a week (would be 10 a day with ready mades)

Im still quite abit fitter than alot of people i know my age that dont smoke.

But ive gotta say, there is nothing quite like draging people off at the lights on a mountain bike. As long as the chain doesnt break on the shifts, its one hell of a thrill. When im in the Corvette, i expect to win, and sure its good, but when you beat them on a mountain bike, well, youd have to do it to really know how it feels....

I'm pleased with mt C5 brakes, but I dont break hard from 120 to zero.

I do bring it down from 120 to 35 or so at the track .

Seems since i lowered my 94 its picking up a fair few new rattles, the ride is stiffish, i have an FHA spring in the front (from a 91 ZO7, thanks to our mate Glen ), and a BMF spring in the rear (came out of a front end wrecked FE1 84, i had that spring for many years) coupled to the KONI yellow adjustables.

TopTechx6 has been for a decent ride in the car, so he would be able to give a good idea on what he thinks of the ride.

The car goes round corners like its welded to the road if you line it up right. The only thing id change is the swaybars.

Id say the stiffer ride has started off a few of the rattles, i noticed over the past few days there is a couple more coming out.

Also, i need some new rear swaybar bushes, if someone has some laying around, let me know and i might take them off your hands

The pads are likely your problem. You didn't state what kind you're using but try some Hawks and bed them in properly.
Yes, I have C5 brakes and used the bias spring. And I indeed found them to be an improvement over the J55s that came on my '95.

I'll probably order new rotors and pads in near future.
I've seen that everybody speaks good about Hawk pads, but what
kind of rotors are recomended?

Also I'll be adding some cooling ducts soon. That should help too.

I would say those are my brackets, but they are not stamped with PNWZR1 and I haven't sold any to Europe.

One thing you may want to take a look at is the metal tangs that fit in the abutment bracket, depending upon the rotor they may rub. Take the tang out and grind on it with a bench grinder some to get some more clearance.

Also check the clearance between the edge of the diameter of the rotor and the tang as well. If it does not fit flush against the abutment bracket, it will hang down and grind on the edge of the rotor.

I'm not sure if you made brackets but I bought those 2 years ago from
Ed Salinas. I believe he was CF member also.

Anyway, I took a closer look and it does look like there is scratching mark on rotor edge,
so maybe you're right about metal tangs rubbing on rotor.
Thanks.

Ok, here is some further info:

P1371: Ignition Coil - Cylinder 1 - Early Activation Fault

P1376: Ignition Coil - Cylinder 6 - Early Activation Fault

Seems abit irrelevant, although it could be something to do with the crank angle sensor.

What does it say if you attempt code retrieval via the LCD display? Connecting pins 4 and 12 should put you in diagnostic display mode, there is the DTCs in big numbers where the speedo normally is, and the module listed in little numbers where the coolant/oil/volts/fuel ecconomy normally is.

I will need both the big sized and the small sized numbers.

Case,

I was reading on alldata a little. The program is decent, its agood if you don't have a FSM but it should probably only be used as supplimental. Anyway, under diagnosis, it suggests that because the relay is in a location that does get "moist" from time to time, the contacts can corrode leading to resistance and hence less power to the motor. There is a series of checks I think I will try and run that shows you how to test for voltage at various blower speeds. I don't know if this is the problem but I can't think of any better way to waste a Saturday afternoon :sleepy4: . That is of course after I finish diagnosing the MAF sensor issue, add the new horns I bought, install the shift light I've had next to my bed since July, change the oil, and install the C5 brakes. Why can't it ever be a quick fix?

Supposedly PCM4LESS is one of the best in the country. I see them all the time in various magazines. I know they specialize in Impala's, infact I think one of the guys, Alvin if I remember corretly has one. I have to get my new rear tuned in soon on my 96 IMPY so I try out there mail order tune. If you check out their website, they have a HUGE spread sheet that you can check off various things you would like them to change. I can't see how much benefit it would have on an L98 though, and if you have major engine mods and need a tune, that would not be something they would be able to do over the phone. You should give them a call and find out what they can do for you,

You know, to be honest, that may have been suggested before and I don't think I checked it out, but what gets me is that it really doesn't blow all that hard.

Are the blower motors different from year to year?

I was thinking of making this my new hobby if I am any good at it, so I have been doing alot of reading on it lately. Its absolutely NOT worth doing on a C4 Corvette. This is to be left to the pro's or those of us looking to become pro's (meaning doing it more than once). You can't just cut and slap tint on. The curvature of the rear window makes it a real bit*h to install, and it MUST be heat shrunk to the window. This cannot be dont with a hair dryer so you will need to buy a heat gun, which I have found (for a good quality one) isn't cheap. Also the tint at walmart is total JUNK. It is paper thin and dyed in some cases. Within months it will turn purple, peel, and look terrible. It is also harder to install because it cruples easily, and traps water and dust like no other. The most important part of tinting is using good quality tint. Its like building an engine you want to run on loads of nitrous and putting cast pistions in with a forged crank and forged rods... what do you think is going to happen? You will also need a couple of hard cards to get the water out.

For $99 - $150(tops) to get the 3 windows done, and have it done by a pro (who will have to fight with it), it doesn't pay to buy a heat gun, tools, liquid, and tint to do it yourself.

Yeah, bleeding was the first thing on my list to do. And yes, the only thing I've done to this car so far is fixing the speakers in the back, changing an injector, and hard wired my police scanner. A lot of work as been done to it, and I got it for a really good price, but there are a lot of things on this car that just weren't put back right, so I'm going through the car and fixing it one by one.

I don't think I'm getting the full potential of my brakes. I know they've been upgraded and from that other thread, I'm starting to think they're C5 brakes. Anyway, the pedal seems really soft to me. In an emergency stop situation, the pedal goes all the way to the floor and will not lock the tires at even low speeds. ABS has never come on.

Sometimes in the wet, I have to basically floor the brake pedal to get even a normal stopping speed out of them. (read: not safe)

Any ideas?
