No it was a ham and cheese sandwich.

I dont know where youre going to tell me it was one of the ten worst foods, but what i am going to tell you is that whoever stated that is full of sh*t and has no idea what they are talking about.

Vegemite is very good for you, very rich in vitamin B. So many hundreds of thousands of Australians grew up on the stuff and it never hurt any of them at all.

Its a good food and its healthy.

Really?

Hum. Think I'll gut the thing. 4hp on a 230 hp car is what, 2%. Not bad.

What's 8 t/b. You aren't talking about the dude with the direct exhaust injectors are you?

Thats a question for the guys at WBI www.wheelbearingsinc.com

If you want to cover postage and one dollar, ($10 MO to my mailing address) I'll gladly send you the parts for the disassembled bearing.

Well, I finally checked out this site and I like what I see. Andy Bogus, I had no idea that you did this. I see a lot of familiar names from CF. I read the rules and I love the fact that you require that people speak in plain English. I was getting so frustrated at people that don't comprehend punctuation, capitalization, and spelling. I was also getting tired of posts about 8 t/b intakes and gaining 4 hp by gutting your cats. :thumbright: Marcus from Arizona

2. I had a spare MAF to test with
3. I Read his other posts on CF about this which was a bit more lengthy, even though it was intersperced with the usual moronic no help replys

Same here. busy busy. As always.

I have about 100 T-Shirts and hoodies to do before the end of the week.

I have been working on my '76 also. I got the gear drive and starter heat shield today. I need the shield to protect from the side pipes I am installing.

I pulled the radiator the other day for better access to the front of the motor......NOW I am thinking about how easy it would be for a came swap

Whatever I do, I have until April to get it done for cruizin' season!

The amount of ram on the card matters not. Its all to do with the video processing power of the card, the amount of pipelines, the speed of the core, and the speed of the ram. I have an nVidia 6800 Ultra 256MB PCI-E video card, and there are quite a few cards with as much as double that ram that dont even go close to the same performance. The nVidia 7300LE 512MB is a perfect example, twice the ram and yet no where near the power.

I built a computer for a guy about 3 years ago and he had a quote from another person he wanted me to match or beat, i beat it by quite a fair amount, and the computer had far more power for gaming, and that is what he wanted. He told me when he read my quote that the other guy had said the onboard video on the INTeL mainbord he quoted for could use 1 full stick of ram, so he could have up to 512MB of video ram.

I said if he wanted that much slow ram and a very slow video processor to buy it from the other guy, but if he wanted real power, take my word for it and take what i sugest. He was blown away by just how much better the performance was of the computer i built for him over the one the other guy wanted to sell him, which he had allready seen in action before he came to me.

I got my bearings yesterday.

One bearing has no play and the other has .015" play.

I would like to disassemble and reassemble them. Was the broken bearing cage in your photos unavoidable? I assume that during disassembly the outer seal broke the cage? Where was that large snap ring and what does it do? Will the manufacturer sell spare parts?

I'm thinking that if you disassemble the bearing, you can make a test setup like the mid 60's rear wheel bearings and measure the play and put in shims to space the bearings before doing the permanent installation.

Some people may get the idea that I wanted to disassemble the bearing to get rid of the play. That can be done without disassembly. I'm wondering if that won't even happen when you torque down the spindle. I do wonder also if some play is not a good thing. The reason I want to disassemble has nothing to do with play or the bearings. Maybe I should have asked if I could purchase the bearing not fully assembled or if they could vary the design for one customer. I have 5/16" spacers for my wheels and was considering taking the bearing apart and seeing if a machine shop could extend the part that goes into the wheel so the studs don't have to support all of the load. I don't really know if that is a concern because fricition between the wheel and spacer may provide support.

No it doesnt by christ, it means it has two cores on one CPU, two CPUs in one computer is generally a server type setup as youd know, and substantially more expensive than that (AMD Opteron or INTeL Itanium and INTeL XEON). The mainboard has two seperate CPU sockets, and different chipset to allow far bigger amounts of data to be moved at once, where as one regular dual core CPU goes into the only socket on the board, meaning the processing capacity of that dual core CPU is only as good as the bandwidth a single socket can provide.

Unless youre playing video games Johnny i wouldnt care what video is in it, cause what ever will disply Windows Vista will be fine.

not too bad.

and yes, dual core means it has 2 CPUs in one... rather neat, really.

your first upgrade should be the video... I am betting that for 499 it has integrated video.

Here's a video of a new product on the market that will convince kids and/or adults that speeding in your neighborhood isn't cool. The dialog is in German, but you'll get the gist of it.

Casey has given you some good advice.

If the Opti is known to have a lot of miles on it, consider replacing it with the MSD unit while you're in there. Otherwise, leave it alone.

The factory wires for the LT4 engine were red, are of good quality and will fit perfectly. You might want to look into acquiring a set of these.

Below is a set of tech tips I wrote up some time ago about swapping the plugs & wires on an LTx engine:

Changing the plug wires on an LT1/LT4 Corvette is not a lot of fun, but it can be done. Here are a few tips:

1. Raise the front end of the vehicle to a more comfortable working height.

2. Remove the inner fenderwell center panel on the driver's side. This will allow you to both see and do the job much more easily on the driver's side. You may also find it helpful to remove the wheel.

3. Unbolt the ASR bracketry from the frame, so that you can slide the ASR unit around to get it out of your way.

4. Unbolt the power steering pump so that you can move it forward around a half inch. This will make it much easier to sneak the plug wires in/out behind the pump.

5. Remove the serpentine belt and tensioner.

6. Use dielectric grease in the boots at both ends of the wires. Be sure to "burp" the air out of the boots after you get each of them pushed firmly into place, so that the trapped air doesn't try to push the wires off later.

Some guys report that they've had decent success accessing the Opti-end of the plug wires from underneath of the car, and that this saved them the trouble of removing the belt and tensioner. I haven't tried this, so I can't comment.

Take your time, work with care, and pay attention to what you're doing. The OEM replacement plug wires from your Chevy dealer are high quality parts, and will route (and fit into the wire looms) correctly. Run the new wires properly, and make sure they stay away from anything that moves, is sharp, or gets hot.

The passenger's side is not such a bad job. The driver's side is a Queen Royal Bitch (mostly because all of the belt-driven accessories are hanging on the driver’s side of the front of LT1/LT4 engines, and they leave little room for you to work or see what you’re doing). With plenty of patience, beer and Band-Aids, you'll get it done.

The spark plugs on the driver's side aren't so bad, when you've got things apart to do the wires. The passenger's side, however, is not so easy. The number 8 plug in particular can be a real headache, but with good tools and enough patience, you can get it done. Because there isn’t room for a ratchet on top of the spark plug socket, I use a plug socket that has a hex head on it so that it can be turned with an open end or box end wrench. It's useful to have more than one plug socket to choose from, as some will work better than others due to differences in length, wall thickness, etc.

Be sure to apply a small amount of anti-sieze compound to the threads of the new plugs before you install them so that they won’t seize in the cylinder heads in the future (this is especially important with aluminum heads). Just make sure none of the compound gets onto the electrodes or insulators of the plugs. I apply a very thin stripe of compound across the threads in one spot, and it spreads itself around the threads as I screw the plug into the hole. Also be careful that you don’t pick up any of the grunge that may have accumulated over the years around the spark plug hole in the cylinder head on the new plugs’ electrodes/insulators/threads while you’re installing them – try your best to get the tip of the plug straight into the hole on the first shot.

For OEM parts at great prices, contact Chris May at Superior Chevrolet (1-800-728-8267), and tell him you're a C4Guru forum member.

Live well,

SJW

I have been very busy between redoing my hallway, chopping firewood, getting the wood, working on getting my vette back on the road, and getting my college straight not to mension my work load. I am tired. I will have to post a pic of the wood I have and have to chop.

Yes mate, was quite warm here today, nothing like what it will get to though, its only spring time here. I got sunburned, which doesnt take much in the Australian sun, although we drove about 170 miles. Towards the end of December, through January, and February is our hotest times, it will reach as high as 113*F during that time, and will see temps over 100*F for a 5 and 6 hours a day, and for as many weeks. A friend of mine (owner of the Australian Corvettes forum) recorded some temperatures in summer last year and it got as high as 127*F at his place at about 2pm, i believe that was in the sun, and also recorded 119*F in the shade at the same time that day.

Add in the humidity that can get so high after a brief shower of rain that you can see the moisture in the air (common at night time to see this about 30 minutes after rain and with a perfectly clear sky above), and its quite hot. Average humidity during the day isnt that high, but anything from 70-90% would be the variable.

Good Morning Gurus!

Another busy one for me today.

Casey, you mentioned you had the top off your Vette yesterday. I was thinking about you while I was on vacation, and wondering if it was summertime in Aussieland. Your seasons are the reverse of ours, right?

Have a great day folks!
