I can post the link if someone gives me the green light ... I just don't want to be banned from the Guru Online Car Show ...

I'll believe that price for a 1LT coupe. By the time they tack on all the various incentives, they should be close to 40k.

I can relate to what you are saying. My car has 87K and is still tight with a nice interior, uses no oil and runs hard. The paint never fails to draw a compliment when I am out for a drive. Most of all the car fits me well. I am tall 6'2" and weigh 200 ... ok 210 ... and can stretch out and get comfortable when I am on the road. I think they are the most complete Corvette they ever made.

We have 42k on the 'vert - low for a C5 'vert, but high for a 50th Anniversary 'vert. People still tell us our Anniversary Red paint can't possibly be stock.

Good morning, all. Grey and dreary in Philadelphia this morning.

Lots of writing on the agenda for today.

In slightly more glamorous news, the plan for my birthday weekend (coming up) is to drive all three of the Corvettes. No big trips this year - just around the 'burbs.

... brings a smile to my face.

Took her in for the annual Pennsylvania state inspection and an oil change yesterday. She needed new wiper blades to pass inspection, but that was it.

This car has been solid. The 1985 has its brutal charms and the 2012 is stunningly competent, but Grace was our first and she's still my favorite.

Sherlock Holmes and Watson

Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson went on a camping trip. After a good meal and a bottle of wine they lay down for the night, and went to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes awoke and nudged his faithful friend awake. "Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see."

Watson replied, "I see millions and millions of stars."

"What does that tell you?" Holmes questioned.

Watson pondered for a minute. "Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three. Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful and that we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?"

Holmes was silent for a minute, then spoke. "Watson, you idiot. Someone has stolen our tent."

Unless there's 2 of those in town, I've seen that one driving around a lot ... a lot.

I like the color. The cloth sports seats are relatively unusual. I'd be more trusting of the interior and mechanical bits if the seller had bothered to focus the camera.

66k is high mileage for collecter purposes - almost to the hooptie level of the 70k on my 1985. For $4,900 somebody got a 205 bhp L83 with an A4. Now they have to decide what to do with it.

The NCRS is assuredly well intentioned but nonetheless amateur in its approach. As a professional museum curator their work is SLOPPY and very unscientific and an insult to my profession. The 84 judging guide is ripe with errors (as any original 84 owner can tell you). The original owner survey was initially done by an 86 owner from NJ with zero attention to detail and corrections are a long time coming.

Perhaps they have since corrected their errors as its been a few years since I purchased their guide and tossed in in a drawer in disgust. I do not intend to waste any more $ on them :-P

It's truly a a wonder to me that anyone gives them any credibility at all...I can only IMAGINE the errors people believe as fact for previous years!

I was a member of the NCRS, but am no longer one.

The first edition of the 1984-1986 judging guide did have a bunch of errors, but any conscientious C4 judge (and that describes almost all that I met) has a many annotations and updates in their copy. The C4 team leaders have also been able to photograph many of the strange early C4 exceptions (my early 1985's emissions label placement, for example). I am confident that the second edition will be far superior and I will purchase it, even though I'm no longer playing that game.

Any NCRS judging guide is intended as a starting point - no more. When judging, I would routinely tell owners not to change anything unless they were sure it was wrong. Despite the intentions of McLellan to get the C4 right the first time, there were hundreds of changes just in the first three years. Only starting to judge a lot of cars in a somewhat rigorous fashion would bring these differences to the fore. So, kind of a chicken and egg thing.

In hindsight, it might have been better to write the C4 guides from the ground up instead of basing the format on the late C3 guides. However, this wasn't easily knowable: adding mid-years and sharks had been done that way and it had worked out.

The later C4 judging guides are far superior - in particular, the 1990-1996 guides are excellent.

I concur - however, I'll try.

I took my mother back and forth to church in the 2012 Centennial Edition, not really because it was Mother's Day, but rather because my father is working at the Commencement exercises at the University.

I think mom likes the CE, but I think she is a little fazed by the exhaust and the racing strips: certainly a little different from the glamorous quiet ride that is the 2003 'vert or the flat out age of the 1985.

Good afternoon, all!

A quiet weekend at home, for which I am grateful. My left knee seems to be getting back to normal after last Sunday.

We've never seen the rocking seat issue on our 2003, but we've got a lot of friends who've had it.

Yep, Andy - you are right: that is geeky. I'm only that geeky with the home system. Just for your amusement (and because you already got a good response), our three Corvettes and their sound systems:

1) 1985: Stock and completely functional Delco-Bose (radio, cassette) - never listened to except during judging or when preparing for judging (when I drive the car I feel I need to hear if anything is falling off it).

2) 2003: Stock (except for iPod2Car interface) powerful but unrefined Bose (radio, cassette, 12 CD changer) which I will confirm can be heard clearly with the top down at 80 mph (which seems to have been it's design brief). Used mostly on long road trips.

3) 2012: Stock but finally respectable Bose (radio, single CD, native and usable iPod input), upgraded for 2012. Now nine speakers. Still no sub-woofer, but two improved 10-inch woofers. Ivelis uses the stereo a lot more than I do and she really likes it.

Good afternoon at all. At home recovering from yesterdays' 10 mile Broad Street Run.

The report: 1:46 and change for Ivelis, 1:51 and change for me. In my defense, I'm having significant left knee issues. Still ran better than last year - Ivelis a lot better.

Landscaping looks good, Matt.

My wife dropped me off at the airport this morning - flying out to Austin (via Dallas) on business. I'm sending from 33,900 feet, somewhere near Paducah.

Good afternoon, all.

The wife and I went over this morning to see a good friend's (we've been friends since second grade) one month old baby girl.

His almost three year old son came out to see the 2012, so he got some seat time - though he had to stand up to hold the steering wheel. We're doing our best to corrupt him.

Afterwards, we got five bags of two cubic feet each of mulch under the rear hatch and headed home.

Correct. Best of the best (L88, LT1 w/air, extremely low miles, etc.) chrome bumper sharks are pricy. Original, nicely-equipped, well-kept big block early sharks are just not that expensive.

... his presence is still strong in Philadelphia.

I took a different route home tonight; the Market-Frankfort El(evated), which goes right past/over the original WFIL American Bandstand studio.

It's a business incubator now, completely repurposed, but they don't deny the history: the last time I was there they still had one of the original Rate-A-Record props.

My air intake housing is cracked around the connector (see pictures below). The supposed correct replacement (I have one) isn't even close.

How would the gurus fix this? The ideal fix would be undetectable from the outside and not affect functionality.

I headed over to Rosemont Tire today to get my new BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2 255/50ZR-16 tires mounted and balanced.

These are the first name brand street tires available in this size since the previous generation of this tire disappeared from stock some time in 2010.

I enclose two pictures for those who might be interested:

1) A side view so you can see how Lauren sits with them.

2) A view of the tread pattern.

Thanks, Bill. Sometimes the answers are too obvious ...

... I have the manual, but it is significantly different from this one.

Four post storage lift. I remember that I'm supposed to apply some lithium grease to it - exactly where should I put it?

Good morning, all!

Doing the great "show to driver" tire and wheel swap for the 1985 - I'll report back later.
