Whos used them. Do they have issues? Gotta get a new TB so I am upgrading it to a 52mm. TPIS wants 600 without a core and my core is not rebuildable(its crap!). BBK is half that price...Some people have told me BBK TB's are awful. Thoughts on there design flaws/cons for a C4 Corvette....

No, don't bring up the your wasting your money on a bigger TB. That is not what I am asking. I expect no gains from going bigger. I just want a new TB plus I am upgrading stuff but thats irrelevant. Just need to know if BBK is good or bad.

Thanks!

My neighbor installed the 52mm BBK on his 88. He has no problems! He installed it in 08. Everything is good. I noticed his 88 idles really well and has great throttle response. Hope this helps

I am far from a Guru and installed the Professional Products TB, made the adjustments needed based on the FSM and the car started right up. Has been working very well for the few thousand miles I put on the engine prior to last June. It appears to have good workmanship, very nicely polished, and works great for half the price.

Bump... how did you guys get the intake boot to fit over your Professional Products TB?

I was told it was the same casting as BBK. My plastic 85 boot won't fit, with or without the heat gun.

I agree. I had a BBK 52mm but never could get the thing to idle right even after doing the IAC mod on it. The PP 58 I'm using now does much better. It also has the IAC mod done to it. IAC settings are crucial on any of these after market TB's. IIRC my counts ended up around 18-20 at idle.

File the lip off so it is the same as stock TB

Same here .Had BBK 58mm on several engines, no problems.
IAC counts < 20
Only thing I will note is the BBK seem to have stiffer than stock spring ,making low speed part throttle tip in hard.

Ok, now I remember the hold up.

I spoke with PP on it awhile back and he said if I file on it then I'm up shit creek if I wanted anything on the warranty. But now that it's sat on the shelf for 2 years it's a non-issue. Grind away.

running a BBK 52mm on my 95' I think since around 2004.. no issues here.. and as for idle, it idles pretty well but I also have a hot cam in it and it could probably use a better tune..

I have a stock 48mm sitting or a 58BBK I would sell. I have the BBK on now and while the throttle response is "better" the stock was much easier to cruise at lower speeds

Hey WW, you got any experience with Xtreme-FI? Feedback looks good and it seems they offer quite a few different manufacturers throttle bodies.

Kevin - I just saw your question about the PP Throttle Body.

On my 94 - the intake boot fit without grinding. I lubed it up a little bit and it pulled on with some effort. Once I got in place I cranked down on the band clamp. I have since removed and replaced it several times without any extra force to get it on.

I asked Mick (mseven) the same question because I was going to get one, and he said I wouldn't get that much .Im sure it depends on the motor your putting it on but most companys exaggerate there numbers..WW

What I am curious about is how your old TB can be so crap that it can't be used as a core? I mean, think about that... did a truck fall on it? Were the ports crushed by a falling meteorite? Did it get soaked in acid?

They don't use much more than the actual code throttle body, bore it out and put in new guts.

This is like saying that sand isn't a good core for glass... how can you break sand?

Ditto on mine. The aftermarket "power coupler" rubber boot fit with some trimming and heat.

I won't go anywhere near one of those. The last two I saw were both split. Of course people put the seam down for aesthetics, and then when it goes it fills their engine with dirt for a few years before they notice.

A BBK 58MM has been on my 355 for 5 or 6 years or so with no TB related problems
