Good Morning CGs!

Well, I'm a bit tired right now. We didn't get home until around midnight from the show and a late dinner. Cirque du Soleil was awesome. We all enjoyed ourselves. Only part we didn't like was the seating in the theatre was physically too cramped - the rows were so squeezed together you almost had to sit sideways, and the chairs were too small. Oh well.

I plan on working on the laptop today to swap the screen out and fix the power supply. Hope is all goes smoothly.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Top of The Morni'n to You Matt and other Gurus

It looks like its going to be a great weekend here weather-wise. Sunny and in the 50s!!

I plan on cleaning up my mess in the garage and routing that microphone wire this morning. Then tucking the car in for a couple more weeks while I wait on the Carbon Fiber finished console pieces and the XM reciever.

Tomorow I will probably head down to the boat to check on it and get a breath of Chesapeake Bay air!

Matt - when I was in Vegas last year everyone was talking about Cirque du Soleil, I wish I had taken the time to go. glad you had a good time.

I'm planning on finishing up projects I've been putting off. Yesterday was a testing day. I had picked up the wrong size ball for the trailer, didn't realize it until I got home. Then at work my computer crashed. Then I had an event with my photo booth, and the graphic was the wrong size. This made it so it wouldn't print the pictures. All worked out. I had to do a service call at my day job, so I was able to get the correct ball. Our IT dept. is only one shipping day away. Then my wife was able to resize the graphic shortly after we realized what had happened.

Big day today! I'm heading to Bristol shortly, to fire up and test drive Trae's '76, for the first time now that it has a 700R4 trans, and new rear suspension. Oh, and I almost forgot, the headlight doors are no longer vacuum operated........we built and installed an electric system for that task, which cleans up a bunch of vacuum hoses under the hood, not to mention making the headlights work better (the cam kinda reduced the vacuum ). Let's hope everything works like it's supposed to! Everyone have a great day!

Did you do the 700r4 swap yourselves? How bad was modifying the crossmember and welding it up to fit? We would like to do a 200r4 on my dad's 79, it is a much easier plug & play from what I've read.

In my late twenties and early thirties I remember cleaning up my act, selling my toys, staying around the house more, dressing a little better, becoming active in community matters and becoming a productive member to society. Luckily for me my forties brought me back to a place I've come to know and love. Playing with the toys. My wife commented to me yesterday that it's getting harder and harder for me to get in and out of the sportscars. If I have to struggle so much , why don't we just sell them? To this I commented; We'll talk about this again when I can no longer get in and out of our sportscars. Then I guess I'll start looking for some passive things to do. Maybe even Cirque du Soleil.

Pftt, Paul Newman was climbing into RACE CARS at age 83 (and winning).

A friend of mine from the east coast called me a few years ago, said he turned 50. Said "Man, I'm getting old", I thought "You sure as hell are".

Jeez Tommy sounds like a subtle challange to me. I told my kids that they will be expected to carry me and put me in the vette and then carry me out when I tell them it's time. They were fine with it. They said no keys though. Hell I can hide some keys.

I am waiting for parts for my car so it is at a stand still. I took the drivers seat to the upholsterer to get the side bolster fixed and waiting on the wheels. Also stereo stuff. I did pull the Harley out and put the charger on it and will change oil and get it ready this week. Now I am getting pumped.

Have a good weekend!

If you can get in and out of a C4 gracefully, you probably are a good candidate to appear in a Cirque du Soleil. I've only seen one, "O" at the Bellagio - it was mind-boggling.

I had hoped to get cracking on Vette projects today, but I am not feeling particularly well. Maybe once more coffee kicks in I'll be good to go.

Have a good weekend, all!

If your wife's right, you can get a power lift.
Might be tough to adapt to the C4 though

Hey guys...I've been busy this morning with all sorts of stuff. I've been to the 'city' to check on a few items and pick up some supplies I need. Since getting back I've been in the shop working on some cabinets. This afternoon I'm going to primp the Vette a bit. Later on this afternoon and into the evening I get to go back to school and run the clock for the sub-state championship games for the girls and the boys. Just so happens we are hosts to the #1 and #3 ranked girls teams in our class, and one will not make it to the state finals. Many are calling it the 'real' state championship game....I don't know.

Geez Tommy, I'm glad I'm not that old I don't have any trouble what-so-ever getting in or out of my Vette. From everyone's comments it sounds as though everybody is gearing up for spring. Weather is beautiful here, mid 60's.

My dad is in his 50's and he just got the 79 vette at the end of last summer. You're never too old to enjoy it.

As far as selling off toys, I did that already when the baby came - I sold my motorcycle and got the vette. I have already told my wife that no matter what, the vette stays. It isn't a liability money wise. It's paid for and costs next to nothing to keep (well, not the way *I* do things...but theoretically).

I've been battling osteo-arthritis for over 30 years now and all I take for it is ibuprophen. Weather can play games with my joints. I get a some really great months every year though. I try to take advantage of them. I'm active every day too. The worst thing you can do is just sit on your ass. I envy people with painless mobility but there are way more people far worse off than me. I'll keep what I got and make the best of it.

Yeah, Matt, we did the swap ourselves............with a little help from "Bow Tie Overdrive". We used their crossmember and shifter modification kit/TV cable setup. I'm not familiar with what's different about the 200R4, so I don't know if it's easier or not. It seems the key things are the TV cable adjustments and the converter lockup on the 700R4, and the BTO kit made all that very simple (if you follow directions..........which is pretty difficult for me sometimes! )

After the first test drive, we feel really good about it. It sure makes a difference in the car...........1st gear is lower, so it seems to launch better, and 1700 rpm at 60 mph should make gas mileage much better on our weekend cruises.

I so energetic.

Today, I looked uder the C4 to see if the leak came back.

Then,I decided to drain the radiator since the car was already on jackstands, whew.

Then, I decided to go to Summit for a timing cover gasket set, got it in 5 minutes, spent an hour lookin' at Summit's neat chit that I really need to buy.

Then, thought I better have lunch in a casino.

Then, I came home and unloaded the truck (the gasket set).

Then, I looked at the C4 again.

Now, I'm thinkin' I could get in a 20 minute nap before the race starts.

If all goes well, I may be able to make something for dinner, too.

Tommy, I didn't realize that you had arthritis. I have a tinge in my thumbs and finger joints, the ankles and knees beginning to show signs. You are right, remaining active is the key. As much as it hurts I do exercise the joints each day.

Bill, I think you've overdone yourself today, better take it easy...

Today is the last day home with the wife. Got a bunch of projects done we wanted to get done. Fixed the riding lawn mower, trimmed the bush in front, painted the kitchen and hung new blinds for the sliding door. Mowed the lawn twice this week. Hopefully we'll get a for sale sign out in front of the house in the next week or so. Wasn't able to make the dump run we wanted to, just ran out of time. Got the income taxes almost done also. Good thing is we don't owe any this yr. Also got the oil changed in the vette.

For what it's worth, the girls game was everything it was made out to be. The #3 team edged out the #1 team by 2 points. It came down to the wire. The boys game wasn't so close.
