I think it's beautifully done, but it's not my thing: I'd love to see one live.

when the 59 was new the rear lifted at speed, did they forget? why would you put a flawed design on the road again.

No way. If I want an old Impala, I'd buy that.
I do kind of like the kit that converts a C5 to a C1, that's nice looking. If I had a lot of money, and I could buy any car I want, it would be a tough decision. I'd either get a brand new Z06, with delivery at the NCM, or Matt383's C4. |

Motor Trend Classics did a wind tunnel test on the '59 and found that to be an urban legend. No significant lift. At least no more than any other car on the road at the time. Oh, I wouldn't touch that with a 10' barge pole. Not the least bit attractive. Why not do that with a 64 Rivera? |

No....If I had $$ to spend on any other car it would be some kind of kit car maybe by Fab5 or something like that. ..The new Vettes are nice but Im sick of all the electronic/nanny stuff on cars.
Honestly I desire no more...Finishing up what I got and hanging on to them. Ill let everyone else spend and look for the "Magic car"...After having close to 40 of them finally realized it aint out there. Could been practically retired by now!!!! Derrr |

Nah that wouldn't be a car I would buy even if I had money. I respect and admire the knowledge and talent it would take to build it but not for me. Gary |

I have four of them; One to race, one to tow, one to drive to work in the summer and one to drive to work in the winter. None of them are good in any of the other aspects and none of them are particularly valuable, but they're all great cars. |

Ugly, IMO.
A new Ford GT is probably my ultimate. But I love Porsches as well. I think I would rather just pay off my house and my wife's car and work at not working so hard. I have realized the greatest commodity is time. Time with family, time to relax and time to think. If I can retire when I'm 50 with a decent car and a decent house, that would suite me fine. A buddy of mine is in this position, and man is he digging it! $100,000 and I am debt free. I just have to chip away at the stone, and stop buying cars. Being a car guy is a blessing and a curse. My '93 is good enough for me. |

Quote: No, not 40 Vettes, just cars, most of them money pits/hot rods.... You become a slave to them after awhile...Spectator, I gotta agree with you on application specific. I enjoy the low slung ride of the Vette and the long hood, also love an old schooler with a big solid cam..They both do different things. |

I have "one" vehicle -- "it" is a "Sport Utility Vehicle". The Sport part of that is my '94 'vertte (I like that better than 'vert) and the Utility part of that is my '06 Toyota Highlander. One cannot confuse one with the other!

Had a 59 POS when I was a kid. Rear end couldn't lift, car was way too heavy and even with the 283 it was underpowered POS. Yuck! |

Although I enjoy a '59 done right, this doesn't do much for me. A '59 that was more original looking with C6 or any Corvette running gear would be sweet though.
I love 50s cars for what they are though and appearance-wise, they should be basically left alone. |

If I had the money, I would get a Ferrari 599 GTB.
Go all out. My other dream Ferrari is a Franken-Ferrari. I want a 1985 308 GTB (I love the line of the 308) with a 1988 or so 328 drive line. That would ROCK. |

For a classic car, I'd like to take a straight '49 Roadmaster convt. (like in the movie "Rain Man") and put a strong silent engine in it with modern suspension and rack and pinion steering. Some nice sounding hiden radio. I'd paint it BRG with tan leather and top.
I've always like the lines on the BMW 507 too. I know those are all pricy now tho. Oh and give me a boat tail 1970ish Riv too! |

Too much in one package, it doesn't fit together.
I'll go for the Factory Five GTM supercar in a heartbeat over that abortion. |

That was an ultra-sweet car! About a year or two later the Buick had a similar grille but it extended downward overtaking the bumper. Those things are absolutely gorgeous! I've always wanted one in the fast back body style to make a very mild custom but very serious hot rod out of. I also cream my jeans over the fast back, tear-drop headlight Oldmobiles of that era. |

If I had that kinda money, I'd buy a C5 aaaaaaaaaa C5R that is.
One was for sale 6 months ago for $125k. If I could get a Ferrari, it would have to be a F40. |

Otherwise it's a compromise, and you ultimately end up with some hideous, all-in-one performance SUV. I've got a 69 chevy pickup - classic, easy wrenching, hauling, automatic good for sitting in traffic, hopefully capable of towing soon. 85 vette - economical, pretty fast, easy wrenching, race worthy Motorcycle - 60mpg, keeps my blood pressure up. Maybe a 4-wheeler would be the next addition, and if my truck isn't gonna handle towing, I'll get a 4x4 truck that can, and then get rid of the chevy and get a different classic, maybe a surf wagon that can haul a load of people. The one requirement for all my vehicles, is that they're easy to work on, reliable, and fun to drive! New cars don't make the grade. |

I had a 77 Chev van that I bought new and put 350,000 miles on. It wouldn't tow for chit, even the truck crate motor wouldn't pull that well up the mountains or any grade, like 45mph. 10 mpg towing I bought a 2000, 2 wheel dr, Silverado 5.3 vortec with 65,000 on it for $12k Assume motor, runs 60 mph on the mountain with a 4,000 lb. trailer and gets 16 mpg towing. Yep, a pain to work on but, its never been in a shop and at 120,000 something finally wore out, front wheel brg,. |
