Could Matt's absence mean that he is off having a baby? Or that his wife is? Stay tuned....

Drove the Vette today since the Maxima is in ths shop for a few days. It hadn't been running great, so I was letting it sit. Seemed a little better today, maybe it was feeling neglected. Anyway, it definitely needs a bath.

Happy Hump Day, all!

Good Morning CGs!

Still no baby to speak of. Kind of sucks, too. We were looking forward to him coming early so I could go to NY this weekend. My sister is getting married and I wanted to attend. I was supposed to leave this morning but I cancelled my ticket. Obviously some things are more important. Of course this means the baby will come even later, like October 8th

We have a few chores to do outside around the house. Maybe I'll get a chance to work in the garage, too. I think the big plan today is to get the pool closed. Hope it works out.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Crap... my reply got lost in the Ozone when Matt deleted his thread. I must have replied as he was deleting.

Anyhow, great day to all of you!

Matt - hang in there buddy!

Oh.. Last night I got to take a little ride in a 1962 Corvette Roadster. 327/300 hp frame off resoration. This thing sounded so sweet with the top down and the wind whistling by. The engine ran smooth as silk for an old girl climbing in rpm without a skip. I just love those old Vettes.

The old Vettes were what got my attention. While other people were looking for VWs I was looking for Vettes. Don, even though your Vette is in the garage, you sure seem to be getting a good taste of them. Enjoy the ride ........

6 months before I moved from Pa.to Nv. (1984), I had a 3 car garege with a 67 Coupe, a 65 Vert and a mint 76 sittin' inside.

At least I kept one of em.

I have this Monogram sitting in the hall closet.

I'd put it together but I have a bigger model kit sitting down in the shop.

Yeah, I have been fortunate enough to have lots of friends in the club and at the dealership that look out for me. They now my current situation with the car and must feel sorry for me. LOL, so I get to drive lots of different Vettes. Kind of fun, seeing which ones I like best. I swear though, that I really love my 94 the best. I don't know if its possible to be unbiased but that's my gut feeling.

C1's and C2's were what I was wild about when I was a kid. Where we lived if you had a Vette it was considered the fastest thing in town. I was about 10 when Route 66 was on and I watched more to see the car than what Todd and Buzz were doing. I can still hear that theme song.

Bill I don't know a lot about your C2. What engine and options does it have on it? When do you plan on getting it up and running? I still dream of finding another one out in someones back yard like the 63 I had.

Matt, It will happen soon! Perfect weather here. Took the C4 out for a spin this morning I was listening to Johnny Rivers greatest hits. I love his rendition of Maybeline.

Enjoy the day!

Good afternoon everyone. Fingers Crossed Matt.
Had a bad day yesterday. Kids skipping school darted in front of my daily driver, forcing me to choose between them, and a 1 ft high curb. Curb 1. Rims and tires 0.
On one hand, glad I didn't kill them. On the other, I was wishing them some pain later in the day.
My day today is better, and I hope everyone else is too.

It's nothing special, base motor,300hp. It had Off Road Exhaust but it's converted to sidepipes which I'm keeping of course. Bought it in '74 for $3,000, drove it 5 years as my only car. I decided to keep it because I had no money in it. Race cars got in the way of the restoration, but I didn't care.

Damn if I know when it's going to be running, I'm working on the small inexpensive stuff now, some pics in C2 Tech.
Frame's done except for the stenciling,etc. Bodywork's 95% done.
I hoping to get a new compressor and a glassbead cabinet by Christmas, wire wheels suck.
I'm going totally stock (close to NCRS).
It was Marina Blue (repainted), I'm going to the origional, Lyndale Blue.

Gee, Bill, from the build sheet it looks like it was a Christmas present to the owner back in 1966. Maybe you'll have it done for Christmas, too.....in 2066.

This past Sunday both the Vikings and the Cowboys won. Then the Falcons beat the Saints. That was enough miracles for one day.

I am betting on this Friday night, Saturday morning for the little one though.

Afternoon guys...Been a busy morning for me. C2's for me too! My first ride in a Corvette was a 63 SWC, I was about 9 or 10. My first Corvette was a 64 coupe back when I was 19 and kept it for 2 1/2 years...wish that I could have afforded to keep it, but it wasn't in the cards. My ideal Corvette would be a Marina Blue 66 427/390 4 speed roadster with white/black interior, with white top and blue hardtop, AC, PS, PW, PB. Not asking for much huh? OH, and it has to be priced at about $15k......

Pete....damn kids, blame it on the teachers. Tommy, after my ride in the SWC, I had several models of Corvettes. Brad, I never would have guessed there was that much damage to your car. At least you get to drive the Vette while the weather is decent.

And Tommy, don't rub it in.

Thanks Bill, wish I had a project like that going. I am confused over the difference in off road exhaust and sidepipes. I thought they were one and the same.

Pete your day would have been a lot worse if you couldn't have avoided those kids. Nice job!

Yea, it's a project that I'm glad I have. All the more fun since I took it apart in 1984. Opening each dusty box in the shop is like opening a Christmas present.

A lot of people think the Off Road Exhaust is sidepipes but it's option N11 which is loud mufflers. They look just like the standard mufflers but they're gutted. They were an option starting in '64 thru '67.

Matt: 2067 would be more appropriate......................and you may be correct.

In 1984, I was getting ready to move out here, a guy in the club had a 67 Coupe for sale, 427/400 (hyd. lifters) with 3 deuces, with sidepipes, with headrests and shoulder belts(rare0, with a/c, with power windows, with 67 knockoffs, maroon with a buckskin interior. The car was absoutely stock and a show winner. FOR $10k.

I still think about that car once a month.

$10K could buy you a decent new car back in the early 80's, so it probably seemed like a lot of money back then. But I know I'd piss and moan about missing out on it, too ;-)

Yea, I piss and moan a lot, especially about the one's I've sold.
$10 could get you a lot. I bought a mint 76 for $4k in 82.

Crap, I paid $1,300 for this one.

Yea seeing that will give me nightmares tonight....

About 9 months after I sold my 64, I was looking in the want ads of the Wichita paper, the ad read something like this.

1966 Corvette convertible, 427/450 hp 4 speed, both tops, low miles $4800.

By the time I called it was sold. It was an early 66 as the very early ones were rated 450hp from the factory, but then the insurance companies had a sh!t fit, so they reduced the rating on the later ones to 425hp
