Good Morning one and all.
I was talkin with a couple of guys the other day about people that retired and went back to work. Some people are bored, have no outside interests and soon find they can't stand to be around their retired spouse that many hours in a day. So what do they do? Go find a part time job to get out and away from the house. I, on the other hand, have the luxury of a working spouse. I enjoy being around the house and doing a little of this and a little of that. Unfortunately, just when I think I've accumualated a little screw off time, there is something my wife needs me to do with the business. (Now is the time for me to start thinking gratitide. What about all the starving people in the world? What about the closest some people will ever get to a Corvette is at a car show? Yes that is A/C I feel.) I had a nice quiet day planned. Looks like it turns out it'll be a nice quiet day at the nursery. I have to cover the office while the wife works a job up the street. Retirement is far from what I ever thought it would be. The books I was gonna read still need to be read, the movies I was gonna watch will wait to be watched. The cars still need more TLC than I've delivered, the boat sits idle in my yard. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I ain't doin somethin right. At least I have another day to try and figure it out.

Good morning! Had a miserable round of golf yesterday - by the time it was over, I couldn't have cared less if I ever touched a club again. You get out of it what you put into it, and I'm not putting anything into it.

Tommy, you don't seem like you're cut out for shuffleboard, anyway.

Have a good day, all!

Good Morning all,

Today is the first morning I think I feel kind of back to normal and ready to face the work world. I organized my desk and opened up some audio files here and will be getting ready to do some edits for a course I'm working on.

Tommy - My dad is a 73 yo retired corporate Comptroller / Budgets/Accounting etc. (retired in 2000 the first time) He still maintains his CPA license and has about 100 or so clients to keep him busy during his retirement and the tax season. He called me yesterday, all excited that he just bought out an associates tax business. He said the guy was getting "too old" to take care of the client list any longer and needed to sell. My dad got a great deal and will use this for his final (retirement package) LOL. I think that some people just can't give it up. My dad still gets up every morning and gets ready for work and drives to his office to put a day of work in. He does have a lot more flexibility and takes off whenever the need arises, but still a working stiff forever. God Love Him!! Mom does drive him nuts... but that is just the way it is.

I know a couple of people like that back where I used to live. They did go back to work cause they were bored.

But they were bored before they retired. They use their job as "something to do", when they weren't at the job, the most excitement they could have was finding a new place to sit down. (one of the reasons I moved away from that particular town).

You Tommy will never have this disease.

The Farmer's Market opens today so, I'll head down there for some fresh veggies.
It just happens that it's located in a casino parking lot, co-winky-dink, wot?

Retirement is highly overrated in my estimation. I am a man of action, I need to be challanged and worked to think I have some worth to the world. I know my wife says I am challanged in some areas but I think she is talking about something else. I will chose to work as long as the Lord gives me the ability and the health to do so....

I also want a ZO6 someday, who is going to buy that for me?

Very cool and rainy here today which is a nice change from what we have been having. That heat gets to me after awhile. I can see why Tommy does not like summer in Florida.

Gotta go work out, I have been slacking off for awhile after I finished P90X. Time to fire back up! Come on lets get going Guru's, you can rest when your dead!

You'll get one.

I'd like one too.

But I'd rather have the Vette in that vid.

Morning guys...I' headed over to Mid-America Motorworks here in a few minutes. I'll probably drop a few dollars at the "garage". I'm glad that I went back to work, at least for a couple years. But I'm the kind of guy who couldn't sit around the house and do nothing anyway.

You guys have a good day, supposed to be a little cooler today....we'll see.

Howdy Folks!

Well, unless I win the lotto, I'll probably never have to worry about retirement. Getting closer to 50 now...With a 4 yr old..so...Guess I'll retire when I expire!

On another note...We get to put in a new HVAC...Just the stuff I like spending $$ on We replaced the lower unit about 4 years ago, so I knew we were on borrowed time with the upstairs unit. Just hoping it would hold out a few more years, but it's not worth repairing now..
ByeBye boat fund...for now...Man, I wish I hadn't sold that thing before we went to MO....

Oh well, at least tomorrow is Friday!

Spent 4 hours at the Nissan dealer last night looking at some really boring Altimas. Its hard to beleive that they want so much for what I consider a base model vehicle. I think my wife finally realized that this morning. We might go look at other options like Charger, Sonata, Optima since they are all in the same basic price range and come more well equipped.

It's freaking hot here already!!

I am looking forward to this weekend. My wife is going out of town to see a friend and I get a weekend to do some serious datalogging on the Vette. Maybe install the stereo system too.

I'd be looking at Malibu LTZ, and Equinox or even a Cruze LTZ.
These cars have all the bells and whistles, ride great and get good gas mileage too. Plus the added benefit of being Chevrolet! I'm sorry but I'm just a Chevrolet Evangelist! Next year Malibu grows a few inches wider and gets better gas mileage too.

All good suggestions Don but, the Cruze is too small. Our boys are getting to tall to ride in the back seat of the smaller cars, I was questioning if they would even be comfortable in the Altima. I'm a chevy guy too but the wife isn't impressed with the Malibu's. She'd love a Camaro though! Heck, so would I.

We just got back from a trip to WI and had an Altima rental car with only 2500 miles on it. I think it is a piece of junk, handled like it was worn out already. Sorta like driving a marshmellow. On the other hand when we got back we traded in the wife's 02 Ford Explorer for a 2011 Ford Escape Limited with all the factory options. Very comfortable, little smaller than the Explorer, but still plenty of room.

ps - I have been retired for over two years now and have no intention of ever going back to work!

You mean PAID work. There is always so much to do. I've had this guy with investment capital and a product as well as some good connections floating an idea that could be quite profitable. It has to due with an organic pest control product and applying the product to infested trees. A field test for a local municipality is scheduled for 8 trees. If it works as it has tested, there are several more municipalities ready to launch a pest irradication project. We have been field testing this product over the past year in our nursery. We are now selling this product to other nurseries. This product is ready to leap into mass production and demand is already growing. Unfortunately that comes with lots and lots of work. Right now we don't want to commit to such a time and labor consuming effort but there is something to be said for making lots of money. More money than BillH pulls out of the casinos. I've also been offered an opportunity to go down and oversee a project in Haiti. There is something to be said for the comfort of my bed, air conditioning, sports cars and diet not to mention many other comforts of home. I'm getting soft in my old age. (gonna be a whopping 56 next month)

I'm livin' well on that fitty cent I won.

If you don't win a couple mil, you're just wizzing in the wind.

"There's always so much to do" ???????

What about idiots like me who create more work just by walkin' into a room?
Thought I'd get the old cabinets up in the garage, then the wall underneath them looked crudy, so I painted it today. And went to HomeD, mistakenly walked by the shop lights display. Then bought switches, Romex & outlet boxes.

Ya think 5, dual tube, 4 foot fluorescent and 2 single tube, 4 foot fluorescent lights are enough for a one car bay.

I've driven the Charger a couple of times as a rental car.
I was not impressed by it, If I had to buy a Chrysler product it would be the 300 it was much nicer than the Charger.
