Thanks Tommy and all you others that served to help preserve our way of life and liberty......Greatest Nation on earth...

Geez, I gotta go work again today....wish I could DNBFS all day....Its going to be nice here, 60 degrees and sunny with no wind....we won't get a lot more of those so I better take advantage of it.

As I was driving north yesterday I saw a C6 coming at me and waved....I thought there is a guy DNBFS...the luck.

Have a great day Guru's and never forget what the cost has been to have life liberty and the pursuite of happiness...

Happy Friday, and hats off to all who have served this great country! I'm glad the weekend is here, been fighting off some kind of flu or whatnot all week, so I plan on putting a good dent in the couch.

Enjoy your day, everyone!

Renault and Ford have joined forces to create the perfect small car for women.

Mixing the Renault Clio and the Ford Taurus they have designed the Clitaurus. It comes in pink and the average male car thief won't be able to find it – let alone turn it on – even if someone tells him where it is and how to do it.

Rumor has it, though, that it leaks transmission fluid once a month, and can be a real bitch to start in the morning! Some have reported that when you really need it, on cold winter mornings, you can't get it to turn over.

New models are initially fun to own, but very costly to maintain and horribly expensive to get rid of. Used models may initially appear to have curb appeal and a low price, but eventually have an increased appetite for fuel and the curb weight typically increases with age. Manufacturers are baffled as to how the size of the trunk increases, but say that the paint may just make it LOOK bigger.

This model is not expected to reach collector status. Most owners find it is best to lease one and replace it each year.

Five surgeons are having drinks together at a surgical convention and making jokes...

The first, a Florida surgeon, says: "I like to see accountants on my operating table, because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered."

The second, a Michigan surgeon, responds: "Yeah, but you should try electricians. Everything inside of them is color coded."

The third, a California surgeon, says: "No, I really think librarians are the best; everything inside of them is in alphabetical order."

The fourth, an New York surgeon, chimes in: "You know, I like construction workers. Those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over."

But the fifth, from Washington D.C. shut them all up when he observed, "You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains, no spine, and the head and the ass are interchangeable."

Four guys have been going to the same deer camp for many years.
Two days before the group is to leave,
Ron's wife puts her foot down and tells him he isn't going.

Ron's friends are very upset that he can't go, but what can they do.

Two days later the three get to the camping site only to find Ron sitting there with a tent set up, firewood gathered, and dinner cooking on the fire.

"Dang man, how long you been here, and how did you talk
your wife into letting you go?"

"Well, I've been here since yesterday. Yesterday evening,
I was sitting in my chair and my wife came up behind me and put her hands
over my eyes and said, 'Guess who?'"
I pulled her hands off, and she was wearing a brand new nightie.
She took my hand and pulled me to our bedroom. The room had candles and rose petals all over.

On the bed she had handcuffs, and ropes! She told me to tie and cuff her to the bed, and I did.

And then she said, "Do whatever you want."

So, Here I am.

Everytime I see loadmaster I think back to my slimeball recruiter. I wasn't going in with a guaranteed job but he told me I could make my preferences. So I put loadmaster as my primary. I really wanted to be part of a flight crew. I scored really well on the mechanical aptitude tests. I went to basic and after a couple of weeks I was informed you had to be a SSgt or higher to request that position. Hell I even would have taken a tailgunners position on a B-52. But that's when I found out I had fallen for the recruiters . An officer called me in and told me I scored well enough that he felt I should accept the training for a nuclear weapons specialist job. All the thoughts of massive mushroom clouds ran through my head, the hiding under the desk, the vivid images of structures and vehicles being blown away like matchsticks and matchbox cars, the sirens wailing. They still had siren tests when I was a kid and nuclear drills like they do firedrills today. Funny stuff when I think back to it. Anyway, I declined that position as well as missle mechanic, weapons loader and I took the easiest, shortest school job in the ammo field. A munitions maintenance specialist. So I ended up building up conventional weapons, transporting, storing and meeting the planes for shipment, both loading and unloading. I also got to escort shipments around Germany. I got to see a lot of Germany that way. I enjoyed it. Convoys were easy and fun. I even got to do some stuff I can't talk about. I was on the flightline anytime I wanted to be. If a cool plane came in I got a good look. I used to sit way back from the C5 Galaxies, C-141s, C-130s, F-4s, F-111s. F-15s, T-38s and a host of others. I felt the thrust of the engines, the smell of the fuel, and the heat from the flaming afterburners kicking in on takeoff.
Right next to our office was the Armys helicopter maintenance facility so I used to see a variety of those too. My favorite was the Cobra gunship. It was the best time of my life. No regrets. Well, one regret. I wish I would've knew then what I knew now but don't we all.

Tommy, I guess the requirements changed over the 6 years between our time of service. I requested loadmaster and went right into it out of basic. A fairly short tech school, but most of the training was on the job. I made tech sgt before I got out, and have often wished I stayed in for 20 or more. And yes, flight crew is the way to go.

I have been burning the candle at both ends but still having some fun too.

We have a Toys for Tots toy drive tomorrow and a Corvette fun show. Bring a toy for your registration fee. This is our eight or ninth year doing this and it has become a huge success!

Good Evening CGs!

A little late to the party, but better late than never. I have been running ragged this week with the kids...at least that's how it feels. Get up, drive to work, drive home, take care of kids, go to bed. Repeat. I got #2 washed up and he's in the crib drinking some milk. Didn't sleep well last night or much during the day at all according to the wife. I don't know if it's the teeth bothering him, or a little cold he seems to have caught. Runny nose but no fever. He'll be better soon.

Couple more days of work then a nice long weekend. My wife's bday is tomorrow. We're actually going bowling tomorrow night with the neighbors and kids. Sunday night a nice dinner at a French restaurant with BIL and his gf. Should be nice.

Hey....it's good to see a couple of guys who have been MIA, Ron and Don.

Thanks to all who have served, I never did, for what ever reasons. We (those born in 55) were the last ones to get a Selective service # Mine was really low like 17, had the draft been extended, I probably would have been drafted. But it stopped a couple years earlier. Probably would have done me good.

We were busy again at school. Had a lady from the service center come talk to me, during my planning period, about the new "Common Core standards" and how I can implement them into my classes. Thinking, if this is where we are headed, maybe it's getting time to really retire from education. Not that I think this is a bad deal, it just means more paperwork, more CYA and less time actually teaching the subjects that I was originally hired to teach. (stepping off my soapbox now)

The weather here has been pretty nice the last couple of days and is supposed to continue through the weekend. The wife and I are going to a wedding tomorrow afternoon, so we are taking the Corvette. This afternoon, after school, I came home and washed the wife's car, and switched around her car and the Corvette, so it is ready to go tomorrow.

Ron, that sounds like an interesting project. Also sounds like you kicked some major butt getting it done that quick.

TB glad I'm out of the Education rat race. My old school corp is 10 million in the hole, charter schools/vouchers are killing them. My high school I retired from will lose 24 teachers next school year because of budget cuts.
Tom I worked 12-14 hours a day 7 days a week. The only thing I did'nt do was the dry wall. Felt good! Not bad for a 62 year old guy with 2 replaced knees.

Ron, looks like I'll be getting my left knee replaced this summer. How well do you get along with the replacements? Not looking to run a marathon, but would like to get around better than I do now.

That does sound like you worked pretty hard.

Tom had both of my knees done at once, Bone on bone, knees were completely worn out! Had them done at Ortho Indy in Indianapolis, they do hundreds a year. Titanium and stainless steel maybe thats why I get turned on by fighter jets Four hours after surgery they had me up and walking. I was back home in three days with Phy Therepy daily for 2 weeks. Never needed a walker or crutches. Because my knees were really bad the pain was nothing after surgery as compared before surgery. The only problem I have is getting down on my knees with an artifical patella and knees the tissue around the knees gets crushed. In the summer time if my knees are exposed to intense sunlight they heat up, odd feeling the same with extremme cold.
