Good mawnin.

Light schedule for me today but that doesn't mean squat. Wifey asked me to come out and help with the teardown at 04:30. Can't really say no since she really doesn't ask that much of me. It just seems like she asks a lot of me. Of course. anybody that asks anything from me is asking a lot from me.

It's Corvette Christmas as the hours drag along until evening. Somewhere there are a lot of busy people doing last minute things....like changing the taillights over to round...lol.....my feeling is nothing can live up to this much hype....it's like a Super Bowl...the best games are the ones leading up to the big game......won't be long now...

Slept in lika a Brad...er pro today...after a big day out in the cold yesterday running around the Star City. I have some tranny lines leaking on one of the Duramaxes and I find its a common ailment and one GM has done little to fix...so there are after market fixes..and one of the best ones comes from a company right here in the area...so we drove over and picked those up...and a glow plug for the number 4 hole that the dic says is bad...need those glow plugs these days....its 4 degrees out and then there is the wind....

Have a great day Guru's....tick tick tick....lets open that big package....

Hidey-ho! A tad nippy here, only takes the fingers on 1 hand to count the degrees. I hope the round tail light pic that Marcus posted is correct, but am not optimistic. Regardless, I'm sure there will be plenty to like about the C7. Nice to see the Pack get smacked last night. I had wanted Peyton to make it to the big show, but a battle of the Harbaugh brothers would make an interesting Super Bowl.

Have a good day, all!

Yea, me 2. The weather's been abby normal for the last month. Usually we get a lot of nice days but only has 3 or 4 this month. Last Wed. it was 60, today, if I put the heater on in the shop---it might get warm by 3:30.

That SF kid is too big to run that fast totally blew the record book away.

Good Morning CGs,

Today's plans include fixing the outlaws' washing machine, the pump I ordered came in this week. Maybe tinker in the garage, as well.

Was supposed to meet some flake for a CL sale this morning at 9 but that was a 1/2 an hour ago and she never called. Loser.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hummm, a 6 piece rivet "kit" for one bracket is $3.00.

100 of of the same rivets is $10.00 from the same Corvette catalog.

Anybody need some rivets? I will have extra.

Maybe you can rivet your toes together and save money vs going to the tattoo parlor for more toe piercings.

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force.

If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force.

Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively
interact through persuasion.

Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force.

The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations.

These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job.

That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat--it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed.

People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.

Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury.

This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser.

People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal force watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst.

The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level.

The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter.

It simply wouldn't work as well as a force equalizer if it
wasn't both lethal and easily employable.

When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone.

The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force.

It removes force from the equation... and that's why
carrying a gun is a civilized act.

Before guns, people killed each other with knives, sticks, rocks, swords, and anything else they could think of. Take a walk through the history museum and look at the medieval weapons...they weren't just for show

I would have a represenative of mine pick up the wheels at a later date.

In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Louisiana State University .

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully. He got down on one knee, inspected the elephants foot, and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot.

The elephant turned to face the man and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned and walked away. Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter could not help wondering if this was the same elephant. Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.

Probably wasn't the same fucking elephant.

What a coincidence. I am they legal representative for King Wannanewacorvetta of the royal family of the Island of Suckeronia. He has instructed me by royal decree to find financial representatives in the United States to help assist in the transfer of his royal funds. Due to the large amount of money in his account, he must spread the money among many accounts to lessen the financial risk. Due to your excellent reputation as an honest person, our national search has indicated you are ideal for this role. In recognition of allowing the King to transfer 2 million dollars to your account for temporary holding, you will be rewarded with a fee of $20,000. Please forward your bank account number to our legal team within 48 hours to help effect the transfer.

Wow...I just got one of those in an email this week....I'm still waiting for my money to show up...probably tomorrow.....weekend you know......

Oh brother, ain't that the truth! A few years ago I gave up all my guns, plinkers like my Mini14, 3030, 357mag. Beretta etc. Because of an innocent misunderstanding, which escalated to full blown Swat assault on my house. I was nice though and offered them coffee. Anyway, all my guns were unloaded & locked down. But still quite embarrassing in front of all my neighbors, being forced onto my knees, cuffed with hands on head, middle of street in front of my house. I am sure that at least a couple of my neighbors found it amusing. Lucky for me, all was resolved amicably when the president of our local Corvette Club showed up, he also just happened to be 'Captain of Santa Barbara S.W.A.T. So anyway, to make a short story long .. All political bs. aside, 'I'm agnostic', I got a queezy feeling in my gut when 'O' got elected .. Oh, here we go again. "Gun Control". To elaborate, I am from Denmark. Denmark always had very strict gun controls. In 1939 Germany rolled into Denmark in 1'day, as all guns in Denmark had to be registered w/Police .. The very first thing the Nazi's did was go to the Police Stations, find all gun owners in Denmark. Many were arrested .. unfortunately some never returned. My dad never liked guns. Later he and my grandfathers, uncles, fought in the 'Underground Movement' .. minor things, like blowing up trains, assassinations,. There is a recent gritty & compelling Danish Film, non-fiction, based upon very real characters and events of the underground movement circa WWII. I really think everyone should see, "Flame & Citron" .. As history tends to repeat itself. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0920458/ .. Ok, anyway, like I said, a short story. There is another old axiom: "Never bring a knife to a gunfight" .. Which now brings me full circle. With the anti-gun sentiment growing, more restrictions etc. I decided I didn't want to be the only one at the party without one. So awhile back I decided to get something small and comfortable, w/adequate stopping power .. http://www.sigsauer.com/catalogproductlist/pistols-p226.aspx .. "Wrong, I actually got the P229", I figured if it's good enough for Seal Teams, should work for me. So anyway, some call folks like us, conspiracy wako's .. I prefer to see myself as a student of history. I do not believe the middle east presents real and present danger. It's all bs. smoke and mirrors to cover the real assault. Here at home. "if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck"

I am already physically worn out. Now the Atlanta Falcons have worn me out emotionally. Must be time for a really good martini.

Worn out here too and it's past Miller time so I'm having apple pie (moonshine that is...) friend made it for me.
Started off early this morning, laundry, dusting, dishes, cleaned bathroom, vacuum, mop, cleaned out entire file cabinet and other stuff in house, threw out a ton of crap. Still haven't found my truck title. Left in the rain to go look for a truck. Haven't found one. Drove to Trumann to see the cousin in the nursing home, she was in a pissy mood. Then when I tried to leave I realized i"d left the lights on in the truck I borrowed and needed a jump start and no one around to help. Then I was in a pissy mood. 45 minutes later got help and got home, then too truck across the street to retrieve a new looking chocolate microsuede oversized rocker recliner that was free but springs were out of it and some board was broke and it was being gotten rid of. I can fix these things so I put it in the back of that truck, backed into the driveway and surprised myself by picking it up and setting in on the porch myself. drug that in the house, turned it upside down and an hour later it's good as new. neighbor will be pissed when she sees it. I'll have to get her some cigarettes or something to smooth that one over. So now I'm sitting here enjoying it Tomorrow the vette gets a computer tune, we'll see how that all turns out.

Response to Reno, post #24 ..
"Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force.

It removes force from the equation... and that's why
carrying a gun is a civilized act."

wow! well put. Do not know if you read my response (Short Story) here #37. Anyway, few obviously learn from history. As I mention: 'FACT'. Hitler invaded and took Denmark in 1 DAY in 1939. All guns were registered with 'POLICE'. First thing the Nazi's did? They went to the 'POLICE STATIONS' and then to all gun owning households,, disarmed the entire nation .. arrested citizens, many never returned. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0920458/ Of course this is not little Denmark, they are going to find it very difficult to disarm citizens here in USA'. It won't be like Kent State when National Guard Troops shot to death unarmed college students .. http://youtu.be/vyzoNCJvy4c
