Buiti binafi! I'm back at work today - feeling much better, but not quite running on all cylinders. It was refreshing to get outdoors again - the high today is 0 with a wind chill around -29. I think my ancestors must've been bamboozled by a fraudulent travel brochure in order to land here.

Keep warm, Gurus!

Starting of with a cloudy grey morning as another front from the north blows it's way through. We are enjoying at least a couple of weeks of cool weather, a Florida winter. Lows in the 50's and highs in the upper 60's and low 70's. The weatherman said it best when he interjected that July would be here soon enough so enjoy the cool weather while we have it. I'm going to the Keys on Thursday to enjoy a day of fishing with a friend. Two other friends are down from Ohio so I should bump into them while I am there as well as a few other people I know. The one day break will do me good. A change of scenery is in order. Have a gureat day everyone.

LOL I was getting out of the service in February 79. I came to Florida to vacation at Christmas time in 78 with my ex in-laws. The unemployment in Massachusetts was running at a whopping 14.8 percent at the time. My buddies all told me there was no job to come home to. Figured I'd stay in Florida for a few years till it all blew over. That was 35 years ago. Matter of fact, today is my 40th anniversary of my first day in boot camp at Lackland AFB in 1974. I can still remember the clippers cutting off my mane and later that day I shaved my face clean. My adventure had begun.

The one thing I've learned along the way is "Wherever you go, there you are.".

It was another successful trip to the Detroit Auto Show yesterday. I guess that means I got into and out of Detroit without getting shot or something.

Some notes on the auto show, I tried on a new C7 for fit, very nice, I could get used to that in no time. Hopefully I will get pics of the Z06 and the C7-R posted later today.

The new Camaro Z28 just looks mean ! Pics of it aren't that good (Black car, black background, darkened area no fun shooting that). The spoiler on the Z28 is huge - regular Camaro spoiler with about a 2 inch bolt on extension.

For the last 2 years they have had a Hot Wheels Camaro, this year Hot Wheels is on a new design Ford Transit, I liked it a lot (please don't throw stones).

I find myself wishing Kia had plans to market the Stinger instead of just teasing us with it.

Back to work, watch for pics later.

The reason I live here:

I graduated college in Colorado and moved back to the east coast (Pa.) ...........big mistake except for getting to know Chip Miller.

My group of high school friends are very nice people, great friends.
They are also the most boring people I've ever met, beach, boat & pool sitters. Spent years saying "Let's do something, anything." Always met with a blank stare or "We could sit down somewhere else."

And the weather in Pa. sucks, it's either cold with no sun or humid as hell.

I didn't want to be a design engineer any more, not enough $$$, told one of the headhunters that were calling me that I'd take a position in Colorado or near Lake Tahoe.

Really glad I didn't end up in Colorado since it's turned into the San Francisco of the Rockies.

Yesterday I worked on my 67 Corvette, went to Joe's and helped bleed the brakes on a 67, 427 roadster then went for a ride in it with the top down.

Today, we're prepping cars for the race track.

How I got here in Arkansas....
My Mamma was from here, town called Trumann. She had a visit in Vegas where I'm told she met my dad. They married. His family is from Rhode Island but he ran away from them to stay with my nanny (his aunt) near LA California. We all lived in Culver City. Gas crunch hit, he lost is ass I'm told, they moved back here to where her family was, then divorced shortly after. Should've left me out in LA with Nanny.. I HATE it here. Mamma even said she should've left me there, not sure what made her bring me too, she knew I'd not want to be here. Strange.
Yesterday worked at the shop, getting a Nissan Sentra ready - scuffing sucks ass.
In the middle of the book for the new hospital here, paper I used to work at is putting it out - back against the wall on the deadline as usual...
Regular job today - still working on that lingerie trailer - they can't make up their mind.

How did I get to Ohio ?

Well I spent my first 34 years in W. PA. After my wife at the time lost her job with no chance of recall, finances started heading south. Her sister lived in DE and we had been out visiting and liked what we saw jobwise. Picked up and made the move. Five minutes after we got there, the job market slammed shut.

Eventually she decided she wanted out. So long, farewell, don't let the door hit you an the ass on the way out.

After being in DE 13 years and rebuilding my life, I was "downsized". Time to seriously look for a job. I interviewed with my old company and rehired in our Twinsburg data center. I have been here since 2001 and don't see things changing anytime soon.

Letty, I have now worked for 3 companies based in Little Rock - Systematics, Alltel, and Windstream.

Next stop, old folks home and my kids are NOT going to pick it for me.

I have a friend in Toledo, OH - says it's -10 there today...
Little Rock is about 2.5 hours southwest from me - I'm in Jonesboro.
On the old folks home - the one I have my cousin in - when I signed all her 'permission slip papers' - she goes on outings when she wants, can smoke (but doesn't), can have a mini fridge, booze, beer whatever she likes along with her own furniture whatever can fit in her room. I told all my friends when it's our time I'm signing us all up for the entire East wing...

I've been cleaning up the home office a little. Found the will I was looking for, dumped a bunch of old mags, found a couple of "What is that and why do I have it?'s" Found my to do list I made last February. I see there are some things on it I still haven't got to. It's amazing how much stuff I've pushed off till tomorrow, like cleaning up the home office.

HOW I GOT HERE:

My earliest recollections are of being in a forest where I was raised by a passel of pot bellied pigs.

Resized Image

They took me in because I saved a piglet from the University of Nevada Wolf Pack.

Resized Image

One day while I was walking in the forest, I was approached by a very strange person.
Resized Image

Me said he was being chased by monsters and offered to teach me magic if I helped him escape them. The monsters turned out to be a passel of University of Nevada Cheerleaders looking for a nude beech at a nearby lake.
Resized Image

The old man came thru and started my magic lessons.
One day a spell went wrong, I was trying to transport myself to that nude beech but somehow ended up at Sammy's Wabo Cabo.
Resized Image

I spent several years as Sammy's tequila tester.
One day while Sammy was singing "I can't drive 55" , I said what about parasailing?
As we went up, a huge gust, a vortex caught my parasail and I ended up over Lake Tahoe, just above the Tahoe Queen.
Resized Image

I asked the captain (it was either Robert Fulton or Mark Twain, I don't remember) to drop me off on the Nevada side of the lake.

And that's how I got here.

I asked the captain (it was either Robert Fulton or Mark Twain, I don't remember) to drop me off on the Nevada side of the lake.

And that's how I got here.

Well at least you didn't have to fake sick symptoms. Or say, I was sick as a dog but I feel much better now ....

My neighbor calls in saying he has eye problems. He couldn't see himself going to work.

I liked the good ol' mental health day. Thankfully I don't have to call in sick anymore.

Ya for me also....I was 13 when my Dad took me to the engineering dept. at Kansas State U. and there was the turbin car in all its glory. I still remember that day very clearly. I was very impressed with the interior in the car with all those knobs and buttons.....and the sound it made was very cool.

At a later date we saw one of the cars on the KTA headed west bound while we were headed to K.C.

If I saw a big snake like that wound around a bus by the time I realized it was a wrap I'd have dirty drawers... and be long gone.

I'm a Kansas boy bred and raised. But was born and raised in central Kansas. Went to College in north central Kansas and when I graduated I took this job in western Kansas. The wife was NOT a happy camper moving out to the sticks (even more "sticky" than central Kansas). I promised her we would move on in 3 or 4 years, I just need to get some experience under my belt. 35 years later we are still in the same place, different house same little town, about 2200 population 4200 for the entire county of roughly 650 square miles. It ain't the end of the world, but you can see it from here.
