Good morning gang.

The cold got here today. It's low 30's out now. It looks like that will be the high for today.

Let's get going.

Word of the Day Wednesday, November 12, 2014

clowder \ KLOU-der \, noun;

1.a group or cluster of cats.

Origin:

Clowder comes from the term clodder meaning "clotted mass." It entered English in the late 1700s.

Today is NATIONAL PIZZA WITH THE WORKS EXCEPT ANCHOVIES DAY

Pizza with all of your favorite toppings, on the crust style of your choice, is on the menu November 12 as you, along with people all across the country, celebrate National Pizza with the Works Except Anchovies Day.

Anchovies are a family of small, common salt-water forage fish. Classified as an oily fish, there are 144 species found in the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans. Anchovies are small, green fish that have blue reflections caused by the silver longitudinal stripe which begin at the base of the caudal fin.

Traditionally, anchovies are processed in a salt brine and then packed in oil or salt resulting in a strong, characteristic flavor. Optionally they may be pickled in vinegar giving the anchovies a milder taste.

PIZZA:
◦In ancient Greece, the Greeks covered their bread with oils, herbs and cheese which some believe is the beginning of the “pizza”.
◦In Byzantine Greek, the word was spelled “πίτα”, pita, meaning pie.
◦A sheet of dough topped with cheese and honey, then flavored with bay leaves was developed by the Romans.
◦The modern pizza had it’s beginning in Italy as the Neapolitan flatbread.
◦The original pizza used only mozzarella cheese, mainly the highest quality buffalo mozzarella variant which was produced in the surroundings of Naples.
◦It was estimated that the annual production of pizza cheese in the United States in 1997 was 2 billion pounds.
◦The first United States pizza establishment opened in 1905 was in New York’s Little Italy.
◦Pizza has become one of America’s favorite meals.

Today, if your pizza is thin crust, hand tossed, thick crust or deep dish, top it withALL of your favorite toppings (excluding anchovies) and celebrate National Pizza with the Works Except Anchovies Day!

NATIONAL PIZZA WITH THE WORKS EXCEPT ANCHOVIES DAY HISTORY

Within our research, we were unable to find the creator of National Pizza with the Works Except Anchovies Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

NATIONAL CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL DAY

National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day is celebrated each year on November 12. According to our research, this day was created as day to celebrate who you are, where you have been, where you are going and who you will be thankful to when you get there.

Created by Chicken Soup for the Soul Publishing, LLC, National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day is an “unofficial” national holiday.

Chicken Soup for the Soul is a publisher and consumer goods company, founded in 1993 with its headquarters in Cos Cob, Connecticut. The first book, as most subsequent titles in the series, was of true stories that were written by ordinary people about their own lives and soon became a best-seller.

NATIONAL CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL DAY IS A CELEBRATION ABOUT YOU !

Good Morning CGs!

Cooooool here today. Not looking forward to the polar vortex or whatever they are calling it. At least with the Vette in a separate garage I can park my DD overnight inside the heated garage. That makes for a more comfortable commute in the morning.

Not much to report here.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning guys....Wednesday means early morning meeting and then I am off to the "City" with another teacher and about 20 kids to a job experience conference, so the kids can gain some experience about what jobs are available to them. Counselor, Principal and other admin couldn't/didn't want to go, so I volunteered.

I'll try to check in later.

I'm hoping California does get rain also. I've got a friend in the Placerville area. He very, very nearly lost his home a few months ago.
As for me, I picked up and Edelbrock TPI base off the 'bay. It's s'posed to be here today. This is a test of the theory that, "It's easier to be forgiven than to get permission." However, I need to forgive myself a bit on this one as well.
Have a great one everyone!

Howdy! Been busy all morning, and have another meeting shortly. No more snow here until Saturday, sounds like. We have anywhere from a couple inches around where I live, to over a foot in the northern suburbs. Ick.

Keep warm, Gurus!

Busier than a one-eyed cat watching three mouse holes here too - not sure what's made everyone want everything wrapped the last couple months but the boss just got a new house... hmmm.
And cold... very cold - to me. Highs here in 40s lows in 20s all week. Dreary and depressing. Where's that palm tree pic? I'm bout ready to pour sand in my back bedroom, install a hot tub and paint the walls sky blue...

Well, I told you I'd check in later....much later. Got back from the "exploration day" and then headed back to the "city" to meet Rosie, who was coming back from spending a couple days with her dad. Hurried back for a wake service of one of the church matriarchs. 94 year old. They called and asked if I would be a pall bearer. So I will, probably, freeze my butt off tomorrow.

It's been cold today. Started out, when I got up at 12. Made it all the way up to 18, but the wind has been blowing hard, so it didn't feel even that warm. Tonight it was snowing and it's supposed to get down into the single digits. The heat is on in the house and the electric blanket is warming up the bed.

Didn't feel the 'quake today, I'm guessing it was further east.

You'll have to wait for the palm tree pics. Later in the season.
Cold weather? Why do you think a Boston boy would stay in the tropics? .............. Absolutely correct, even with the humid summers. Winters make it all worthwhile.
