Here are a few shots of the exhaust system. I'm picking the car up tomorow after work. I can't wait. I didn't get to hear it run tonight because they were getting ready to close when I got there and the car was on the lift.

The guy that did it, welded in cross braces to ensure the cats wouldn't vibrate together since they are so close in that tunnel. I can take them down as one unit or break it down further if needed.

We found the rear section of bent tubing off of another old 3" system that someone had just removed. Its a little stained, but I can clean that up.

I forgot to take pictures of the magnaflow SS mufflers, but you guys seen them before.

Thanks for the tip about the cross-bracing. I'm now thinking that the exhaust vibration that I have about 3000 rpm at WOT just might be the cats.

Ok, First Impressions

I'm a little disapointed in the amount of resonance. I thought that the xpipe would tone that down, but not at all. As usual between 1500 and 2000 rpm it drones like a SOB. It sounds great otherwise, but I'm not going to keep it like this, thats for sure. They also charged mee $100 for the used stainless pipes which I didn't expect.

It kind of sucks to be nit-pickin; it the day I bring it home, but I expected something a little different.

Are all these cars with headers and duals this loud? I had muffler elims before that were no where near this loud at mid throttle.

Maybe it will change once I get the 3.54 gears and new TQ converter.

Anyhow, it looks great sounds good from outside the car, but not too good inside the car.

Looks really good.

If you get some header wrap, and place it strategically, will it change the tune you're hearin'?

Maybe just install some sound-deadening material?

I thought about that first thing today. I'd like to lay down some nice thick dynamat in the rear and under the carpet. I need a new carpet set anyhow. Good excuse to do that upgrade.

Bet it drones!!

Time to start a thread stating those do 0 for drone. That should be a good one because you see it posted all the time how it does. Did that with an H on my 67 made 0 difference either. How does it run?

Feels good but I haven't jumped on it yet. I'm still getting my confidence up on my valvetrain setup.

I'm trying to figure out a Code 43 knock sensor issue.

Test the KS's themselves by tappin' a screwdriver near the KS's. If the rev's bump up or down a little, the sensors are workin'. Do it right NEXT TO the sensor, with no response, and they need butter (they're toast).

Otherwise, I think the fault means timing has been retarded because of a KS signal, for too long a period of time.

And the KS signal to retard can be because of loose part knockin', possibly an exhaust part vibrating and transmittin' a faulty knock, etc., ...

You said you did a datamaster scan right? It should show where the counts happened and what amount was taken out. Feel free to send me a log for review, just let me know what year it is.

As far as drone.. I had 3 exhaust systems on my car. The first was aftermarket front pipe with long tube headers,
3" to the cat, then 3" to the rear aftermarket Y into mufflers. I had some new stock mufflers.

Next was a true duals setup, with 2 1/4" pipe and turbo mufflers. Even more drone than the first setup.

The current one is a stock LT1 'cat back', with long tube headers. Zero drone. It accelerates faster than it did with the true duals, however that could be attributed to the better intake manifold - who knows. Either way, it's about a 500hp (crank) build, I can hear myself think and am very happy. There is a lot to say about the LT1 resonator.

SLP sells a 3" resonator. I'd replace your X pipe with it. You might loose .1503585729 horse power, but it prevent you from wanting to push the car into the ocean.

All I used to hear is my exhaust. Now all I hear is my supercharger going "whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

No drone on my LT1, but it's a stock motor.
3" cat back chambered system, no resonator, no mufflers.

Yeh, that's the way this car was prior to the headers and 3" pipes. The headers make a huge difference in sound levels. More than I expected.
