When you're working on your car and have bolts, nuts, clips, etc. from different areas laying everywhere. A neat way to separate them and make your reinstall easier is to use a 6 or 12 hole muffin pan.
You can even note on the pan where the screws came from with a Sharpie and remove the Sharpie with brake clean when done.

I've been using one for a long time for stuff that will get put back together quickly. i use baggies for the longet term stuff.

Never thought of that - good tip. I like to draw the part on a piece of cardboard and poke the bolts through it. Keeps them from falling out and losing them, too.

I like the magnet idea, psy.

I did the cardboard trick a few times when I was new to working on the vette!

An old speaker magnet works great for keeping bolts and screws from disappearing.

Turkey tasted a little funny after I used the baster to suck out my old brake fluid, but damn that bird could stop on a dime!

I've done that with the speaker magnet that CC mentioned.

I also have a couple of Harbor Ft. magnetic parts dishes, got them on sale for $0.99.

I set the tooltray from my toolbox into the front end, fits perfectly in front of the airfilter. Then I toss a towel over each front tire and go to work. I can now reach my tools and screws from both sides of the engine bay, and also have a comfy place to sit.
