Good morning gang.

Congrats to the Louisville Cardnals and Rick Patino first coach to win the title with two different programs.

Well no issues coming to work today.
Found out the fuel pump on the vette went out.
That is the reason it stranded me yesterday. What I hate most is the OEM lasted 20 some odd yrs and it's replacement lasted about 3. Also need to get a new batter for it.

Should be nice here today highs in the 70's with a chance of rain.

Word of the Day Tuesday, April 09, 2013

machinate\ MAK-uh-neyt \, verb;

1. to contrive or plot, especially artfully or with evil purpose: to machinate the overthrow of the government.

Origin:

Machinate entered English from the Latin machina in the first half of the fifteenth century.

Good Morning CGs!

Came home last night and started working on pulling the carpet tread off the stairs. I would like to find the guy that installed him and thank him. Apparently there was a big fear of tornados when my house was built, and this asshole wanted the carpet to be what held the house together if that ever occurred. Each tread has nearly 30 deep staples holding the carpet in. WTF? My hands are sore from pulling with pliers. I spent 2 1/2 hours and still didn't finish. I'll be done tonight in another 1/2 hour or so. Ugh.

Mike - I have a NOS walbro racing pump in the garage with the racetronix upgrade wiring kit for 85-88 if you're interested.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Yeah Walbro's are the best pumps....damn fuel pumps at least you can change them out fairly easily on a C4...that option went away for the C5 and 6. Uh..you need a new fuel pump....that will be 800 dollars please....

Windy and rainy but not cold yet but by midmorning the bottom is supposed to fall out and major snow events are a possibility. Niiiiiice!

My allergies have kicked in to wide open...tree pollen every year at this time......where are those pills...

Have a great day Guru's.....I'm sure you deserve it...

Morning guys...the weather it is a changing. Wind started blowing a little at the ball game yesterday eveeing. then really got with it last night. Then in the middle of the night it got so calm you here the crickets chirping outside. Then about 30 minutes later it is howling from the other direction and hasn't let up one bit .

I've got cabinets to install today after school.

Matt, we just had carpet put in on the stairs about a year ago and that's the way this guy put it on. I know he must have put a whole box of 5000 staples in the 14 stairs. I kept thinking, "The next time we have the carpet done, I'm not prepping the stairs".

Hidey-ho! I'm thinking about putting the Christmas lights back up - we're supposed to get 6 inches of snow tomorrow. If I ever want to bring the Vette home, maybe I should just throw in the towel and buy some snow tires for it.

Keep warm, Gurus!

The installers that put my carpet in the living room and on the stairs did that too. Hundreds of them in the living room. Pulling all those sucked.

Then I had the master bedroom done, $50 to install and haul.

Those guys came in, put a long handled scraper under one edge of the carpet and pulled a 12 x 16 piece of carpet, staples and all in less that 5 minutes.

They only had two staples left in the floor when done and they pulled those with the scraper.

It's always about having the right tool for the job. Some years back, we had our driveway expanded around to the side of the garage. In its path, I had installed a basketball hoop some years before, using some kind of nuclear bomb-proof cement to set the post. So I whacked that cement for several hours with a sledge hammer, ruining a pair of glasses in the process from flying debris. I managed to get about 2 inches off the top. When I showed the driveway guy, I asked him if it was down far enough - he said, "We'll just pop that out with the bobcat."

I've quit the "house project" thing.

They interfere with DNBFS.

Yesterday I sealed the granite counter tops, took 15 minutes. I looks at the stone backsplash and thought "That'll take another 1/2 hour"......it can wait.

Howdy!

Had a delivery first thing this morning. Stopped by the shop where my 90 is sitting. Our radio/electronics guy pulld the radio in the 90 and all the functions in the A/C controller started working perfectly They ordered a new harness to see that's the problem. If worse comes to worst we'll install an aftermarket stereo system and all should be good. My A/C controls will function properly and once again I'll have tuneage in the 90. Then that car will be long road trip worthy. He told me a lot of customers stroll over to check out the car. That's always nice. With 10 vehicles registered and on the road, there's always something.

I can't scrape the stairs, I am trying to do as little damage as possible to the hardwood oak and finish. Upstairs it doesnt matter, it's carpet over osb. But the padding staples are standard staples, not pneumatic 3/4" carpet staples like on the stairs.

Just a little update from North Dakota. According to the weatherman we ended up with 12" of snow yesterday. It was wet and the temp did get into the 30s. However, this morning it was 6 above earlier and now it is 20 above. The streets are a mess. Everything is deep rough ice. No Vette outings this week.

We just rec'd news that there's a new member in my wife's family. We haven't gotten any pics, but Evelyn Grace was born yesterday and weighs 4lbs. 10oz. She was early due to some idiot that couldn't stop his car in time, but IS healthy and spending some time in the NICU. This addition is part of...

My wife and siblings, 11 surviving...
29 grandchildren from them...
And now, 32 great grandchildren with 2 future draft choices on the way for this year.

Me and the missuz have been together for 30+ years, and I still need a program to keep all the players straight.

Hey guys, I get to school this morning and about two minutes later the Superintendent comes in and asks if UI want the good news or the bad news first. I say give me the bad news. He proceeds to tell me that at the board meeting last night the board approved everyone's contract for next except mine and two other teachers. All three of us are the "double dippers". He said it was a stop gap measure until they find out what the state legislature does with funding for schools next year. He said "more than likely" that we would receive our contracts in May. In Kansas, the continuing contract law comes into effect, which the school board must let us know one way or the other what they intend to do about our contracts. Because we are DDing, we do not have the same rights as a regular teacher in whether or not we have tenure, so if they don't want to offer a contract, and they do not have to give us any reason, whatsoever. And we don't have a leg to stand on as far as Due-Process.

I am convinced that I will get a contract in May, but it is a bit unsettling to be left out. The board keeps saying they are behind the vocational programs 100%, but it makes me wonder.

Actually after the Supt. told me, I said "So, what's the bad news?" I could probably do just fine without teaching.

It's really a recruiting tool. When you have a tight wallet, entertainment is one of the first things hit. This would not have happened had the boneheads not deferred action for over two decades. Hell, we're still dealing with energy issues from 40 years ago. Too much CO2? Plant more trees. Regrow the forests. Poverty? Education? There are as many poor as ever and many kids are still stupider than a stone. I know, I know ......... more stupid than a stone. It ain't the governments fault .... Ya know what I'm sayin? Some things just can't be fixed by throwing money at it.

Geez ... Where'd that come from. Marcus was highlighting a story about the Air and Sea shows.

Niagra Falls ..... Slowly I turn. Step by step. Inch by inch ........

Congrats, Bob!

And Tom, I can only imagine that your cabinetry would keep you plenty busy if you weren't teaching.

Hope you get to go as long as you want to go Tom....Uwoman was saying that here the State has stopped giving bonuses to schools for the amount of Master Degree teachers that they have.....for this school system it's about a half million year that just dissapeared....no phasing out over a couple of years...just gone....They have said no Riffing but to expect other cuts.....that would be Para's and other non esential personel.....whoever that would be....Principles????

Superintendents ??? The Atlanta bitch got $581,860.82 in bonuses 1999-2009 for the GREAT test scores of her students. Of course she's going to jail but the schools think court costs to recover that would be more than $581k.

"We don't have a spending problem."..................

Certain government personnel think we have plenty of money to spend...........like on Fisker Automotive....who got $200 mil cause they were GREEN......to build cars IN ANOTHER COUNTRY...............who layed everyone off today in preparation for bankruptcy

I would have to beat the bushes a bit more probably. The Supt even told me you can probably make more money doing the cabinetry thing. He's probably right as are you guys, but you know, I really enjoy teaching (high school anyway).

Marcus, that sounds about right. Just gone, that's it. Non-essential help? Not sure what that could be.....maintenance? Paras? Non required subject teachers?

Thanks but I prefer to just push a button. Bonuses are OK but I really don't want to think to play. I much prefer the mind numbing repetition of the spinning wheels and not these electronic screens. I don't even play Wheel of Fortune. I just pop in a couple of twenties and let the daze begin.

I miss the coins dropping into the bucket, I miss having to find those red, dollar coin racks that hold 100 coins.....a $500 win was a bitch to carry to the cashier.

The new video stuff is just goofy, of course that's why most people like it.......the idiots.

I miss them too but I was carrying nickles. You had to cash in after about $40 to lighten the load. Of course then I had to fly or cruise to gamble. Now, it's everywhere.

they already got rid of a lot of Para's on the first go round....all four Kindergarten classes have 27 or 28 kids and have to share two para's....it's like herding cats all day according to Uwoman.....then throw in the special kids of which there are a lot and there is not a lot of teaching getting done at that level....
