Yes we are!!!

Whew... what a week... here is what all happened.

Last week, I get a notice that a bill is due with the prior hosts, some crap outfit called "Fleet Networks."

I will say this, they were very good for uptime and my main tech contact, Will, was very good. But I don't think he is there, or if he is, he is the only one!

The bill was due and my credit card failed - new one issued after the Target fiasco late last year.

I go to their site... and I get a Security Certificate Expired warning.

What does this mean? It means they don't have a secure encrypted connection. This means if I try to enter my credit card data, anyone could intercept it. When you see HTTPS: and the little padlock, you are in a secure connection.

That failure led to CorvetteGuru.com going down. I refuse to update my credit card without a HTTPS connection...

I figured we were in trouble with Fleet because I hadn't heard word one from them in regards to three separate help tickets sent in the last 40 days. Red flag city.

Starting Saturday, downloaded the site, and migrated over to GoDaddy. Cheaper and better.

I had problems with the database, and found out my extract/import failed... lost 10 tables, enough to keep the software from worming right.

I just finished updating the core from 2.5.4. to 2.5.6.

I hope everything works...

Andy, glad it's back up and running. The only reason I made it here to the new site was because I happen to see the notification on Facebook. I know we have quite a few members on FB, but I'm sure many do not.

Might not be a bad idea to send out a mass email to all Guru members about the new address and to have them copy and paste it into the bookmark they use when logging in.

Matt - we plan on doing an email campaign to let everyone know about the new site. Hopefully soon, Andy is quite a busy guy.

While we were out of commission, it's been raining pretty much non-stop. I may have the Corvette fitted with pontoons. And I found the end of the internet. On my way, I stumbled upon new eagle babies:

Wow that was the longest 2 weeks of my life.....now I don't have to pretend to be happy anymore.....TB let me know about the new address.....nice to see everyone again.

While we were away on our forced hiatus we won the lottery but have spent it all already and I got some new miricle wax for the GS coming......other than that its just been reqular work and rain and cold.....jk about the lottery but being on the Guru again is just about as good as....

Thanks Andy for your great efforts. I've missed the Guru and all of the great comments. I saw the notice on Face Book and tried to log in. It wouldn't work. Changed the password and it worked for a while. This morning I tried to log in but no luck. I requested a new password and viola, I am here. Hope the new host works out.

I have purchased the necessary certificates to be a mass email sender. It gives me the necessary creds so I don't run afoul of other ISP spam rules. I hope to get that blast out tonight.

One last thing... Personal messages... they died in the transfer. There were well over 1.2 million of the little buggers and really, they don't help much. If this product has one weakness, it's the inability to delete them. Send them to trash, and they simply get marked. After that, donno... should take a peek into the process to see if I can kill them off.

This process has cost me 5 days of up time and a few hundred bucks... but we are solid for the next year, with no more bills due. yay!

I found my way back in... tried a few password redos, didn't work, but today my old one worked fine. Many Scooby Snacks to Andy for all he does to provide everyone a place to be entertained. No way in hell I'd want that job.

Wow, thanks for letting me know we were back up , Marcus. I had a 24K checkup on my knee yesterday. It has been unbelievably windy here, even by our standards. Let's see, I'm getting a new stereo for the Corvette next week. Tired of the Bose barely spitting out anything. Getting a Clarion NX503 head unit. It's got Nav, BT, DVD, shoot just about everything imaginable (for me anyway).

some of those high end Clarions sound real good. I would strip out ALL the Bose and go totally aftermarket.

Thanks for all the props, guys! It makes doing this so well worth it!!!

I will be sending a blast to anyone I have an email for. This isn't an ad blast, this is an important "we are here blast".

Normally, I would honour, 100%, a request to not get emails. But this is a little more important than "check out the latest topics."

It will be, essentially, the message I posted above.

I have about 2700 emails for this. After I filter out the no email people, I will be at about 2200, I think. But for this blast, everyone gets it, with apologies.

Even though I don't post here much anymore, I still lurk, read and learn. When I saw the errors that came up when I went to corvetteguru.com, my heart sank. I thought it was gone for good, but like others, I found the CorvetteGuru FB page and saw the new URL.

Thank you so much Andy, for keeping this place going. Personally, I think it's the finest Corvette resource on the web.

Just as a side note, Andy. I have to log in twice before it sees me. The first time I log in it just takes me back as though I had not even tried. Then if I log in again I get on. Not sure what that's about.
