Good morning gang.

Looks like a cloudy day here with a chance of showers. Temps should be in the mid to upper 50's.

I got a chance last night to sit in a C7 and they do look a lot better in person. A used car lot across the street from my dentist has one for sale. White with red racing stripe and is an auto. The seat wasn't to bad I didn't spend a lot of time as I just wanted to look at it. It doesn't cost anything to dream. Car has 4400 mi and they want around $64K.

On with today.

Word of the Day Thursday, October 09, 2014

frisson \ free-SOHN; Fr . free-SAWN \, noun;

1. a sudden, passing sensation of excitement; a shudder of emotion; thrill: The movie offers the viewer the occasional frisson of seeing a character in mortal danger.

Origin:

Frisson entered English in 1770s from the French word for "shiver" or "shudder."

Today is

NATIONAL LEIF ERIKSON DAY

Annually celebrated on October 9, it is National Leif Erickson Day,
This day is an annual observance that honors Leif Erikson, the Norse explorer who brought the first Europeans known to have set foot in North America.

In 1925 at the Norse-American Centennial, President Calvin Coolidge gave recognition to Leif Erikson as the discoverer of America due to research by Norwegian-American scholars such as Knut Geirset and Ludvig-Hektoen.

United States Representative, John Blatnik from Duluth, introduced a bill, in 1963, to observe Leif Erikson Day nationwide. In 1964, the United States Congress authorized and requested that the President to create the observance through an annual proclamation. President Lyndon B. Johnson and each President since have done so. In the proclamations, the Presidents have praised the contributions of Americans of Nordic descent generally and the spirit of discovery.

Some states officially commemorate Leif Erikson Day, in addition to the federal observance, particularly in the Upper Midwest where there are large numbers of people from the Nordic countries settled.

October 9 was chosen as Leif Erikson Day as the ship, Restauration, coming from Stavanger, Norway arrived in New York Harbor on October 9, 1825, at the beginning of the first organized immigration from Norway to the United States.

NATIONAL MOLDY CHEESE DAY

National Moldy Cheese Day is a unique holiday that is celebrated each year on October 9.

Cheeses such as maytag blue, roquefort, briebleu, camembert, gorgonzola, and stilton are why this day set aside.

FIRE PREVENTION DAY

Fire prevention day commemorate the great Chicago fire, which burned from October 8 to October 10 in 1871. Around 3.3 square miles burned as well as hundreds of lives lost.

The first fire prevention day was held on October 9, 1911, 40 years after the Chicago fire.

Use fire prevention day as remember to check all fire extinguishers, smoke alarms and have planned escaped route from your home or business in case of fire.

Howdy! Getting a little nippy out there - my car thermometer said 31 this morning. Frost coming tonight, they say. I'll probably go stash the Vette away tomorrow night or Saturday morning.

Keep warm, Gurus!

Morning guys...It's been a crazy morning. End of the quarter is next week and the kids are now frantic because they have a lot to do and not much time to do it. Funny, I've been telling them that for the last four weeks, "You do realize that you are falling behind, and you should be coming in to work extra, or you should be coming in and getting the equipment to take home and work?" But I'm just a stupid old guy who knows nothing.

Starting a big cool down today. Cloudy and cool this morning. Happy Birthday Brian.

Sun over beach. Had a delivery after my first delivery that brought me to the north side of Miami. Patience was required as I crept through the mass of humanity. On the way back I took a peek at a 2014 Suburban with 14k miles. Asking (start) price of $35,900. That's probably 13K cheaper than it was new. I'm thinking about it. My Yukon is looking to retire from long distance travel with 150k miles on it. Hate to part with big money though. Might wait till one of the wheels fall off the Yukon. Found an 07 Yukon Denali for 15k but of course comes with 100k miles and needs some attention. The 2014 comes with 3 year 36k mile warranty, balance of 5 yr, 100k power train warranty and 2 years free maintenance. Did I mention that I hate debt?

Happy Birthday Brian and Andy!
nice chest too, Tom...wait - never thought I'd tell a man that...
Busy day at work - doc has blood tests back from all that blood she took the other day, I get those Tuesday. Working on one of them I have to do at home, another in another month. Got a bad news financial surprise the other day too. Seems you can't get caught up no matter how hard you try. There goes more of what I had left of my vaca cash.
Shop owner glued my chin spoiler for me the other day so the rest is up to me and as it would be, he did a repair on another C5 the same color as mine, the guy got a new bumper and there's nothing really wrong with his old one. One tab broken that you can't see and it really doesn't help much - it's underneath. So - I can take mine off and be working on it and he says I can put that one on my car so I can still be driving the car. Nice I though.
Off tomorrow, shop owner and wife headed to Columbia MO for their grandboys' 'grandparent's' day at school...

Happy Bday Andy and Brian.

Now dealing with the second sick child and I seem to have picked it up myself.

WEll shit - got a letter tonight, seems my tax preparer made a nearly $900 mistake on my 2012s.... I've had all I can stand... do any of you need a part time employee? I am available Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.....

thank you for all the blood work mojo - still have two lab "kits" that I have to complete here at home - the first one will detect any 'gut' issues, plus whatever they find in 4 tubes of spit. The next one I start next month and it's a few vials I get to spit into also and mail off - those are all hormone related thingies... This lady is the most thorough doc I've ever heard of. She looked at my toes and told me I had estrogen issues - wtf?

and poor Matt - sick kids - and I think I have it bad.... much mojo to you.
