Good morning gang.

Interesting drive in this morning. Temps hanging just below freezing and it was drizzling out. Made for some slippery spots here and there.

Should warm up to mid 30's again today.

Word of the day is pyrophoric.

Today is SQUIRREL APPRECIATION DAY

Squirrel Appreciation Day was created by Christy Hargrove from Asheville, North Carolina on January 21, 2001. Christy is a wildlife rehabilitator in North Carolina, and is affiliated with the Western North Carolina Nature Center. According to Christy Hargrove, “Celebration of the event itself is up to the individual or group — anything from putting out extra food for the squirrels to learning something new about the species.”

NATIONAL HUGGING DAY

National Hug Day or National Hugging Day is an annual holiday created by Rev. Kevin Zaborney. It occurs on January 21 and is officially recognized by the United States Copyright Office, but is not a public holiday. The holiday was founded on March 29, 1986 in Caro, Michigan, and has since spread to multiple countries. The purpose for the holiday is to help everyone show more emotion in public. There is only one way you are supposed to celebrate the holiday, offer a hug to anyone and everyone you want. While National Hug Day and the Free Hugs Campaign share many similarities, there is not actual association between the two. Whether you hug a family member or a stranger, the mental and physical health benefits are the same.

NATIONAL GRANOLA BAR DAY

National Granola Bar Day is celebrated annually January 21st.

According to wikipedia, “Granola bars” have become popular as a snack, similar to the traditional flapjack (oat bar) or muesli bar familiar in the Commonwealth countries. Granola bars consist of granola pressed and baked into a bar shape, resulting in the production of a more convenient snack. The product is most popular in the United States and Canada, parts of southern Europe, Brazil, Israel, South Africa and Japan. Recently, granola has begun to expand its market into India and other southeast Asian countries.

It's a big day for music lovers.

Today Robert Weston Smith would have been 77 years old. Saluting the greatest DJ to ever hit the airways, WOLFMAN JACK.

Ukaramkadze!

Another great day for windshield-washer fluid salesmen - sloppy out there from some overnight snow. Still fairly warm, so I'm not gonna bitch too loudly. Plus there's another few months of no yard work.

Enjoy your day, Gurus!

In the States I wasn't a big Wolfman Jack fan but when I was stationed in Germany I gained a greater appreciation for his wit on AFN radio. That was in his waning years as a DJ. Salute to The Wolfman.

Got the laundry room and garage more organized yesterday. They weren't near as bad as I thought. Mainly I just put away the stuff I left on top of other stuff. Moved some stuff to the sheds. There's more to do in the garage and sheds but it's a good start. Matt .............. Today being National Hug Day ............ come over here and give me a big fat hug. BillH, keep doing what you're doin. Brad .... tick, tock ... tick, tock. Marcus, first gear , it's alright, second gear, hold on tight. Tee, show the kids a yardstick/ruler and tell them an old school story. Gris, get the lead out. VB, where ya been? And you other folks .... post em if ya got em.

Good Morning CGs!

Well I guess I was a day early with my Wolfman Jack post yesterday. Obviously well before my time, I've only seen him in movies, etc.

Not much going on here. Ankle is a little sore from class last night. Apparently I'm getting too old to go sparring like I'm a teenager anymore. I'll have to tone it down.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Maybe get the 90 Vette back today. I dropped the vss off yesterday. Need ball joints on the 99 Yukon. Getting ready to order parts for that. Got the parts I need for a complete tune-up on the 02 S-10 coming in the mail. Rock auto has been my rock for the parts I need. Hard drive crashed on my home security system. I'll be off to Best Buy for a 1TB hard drive. Doing what I can to keep the economy moving forward.

My lock function on my key fob for the Yukon hasn't worked for a couple of years now. I locked it with the lock button on the door. Just cleaned the contacts. Took all of 30 seconds. Works like a champ. Ridiculous how long I put that off. Friggin ridiculous.

Try it on the racetrack at high G loads with the crappy passenger car belts that don't hold you in the seat.

And your knees get beat up from hitting the door and console.

WELL IT'S CLEAR UP HERE ON THE RIDGE AND FOGGY DOWN IN THE FLATS, JUST ABOVE FREEZING.

TOOK THE '87 DOWN TO GET THE STARTING PROBLEM WORKED ON. WHITE CARS (THAT'S WHY IT'S CALLED HARVEY) ARE NOT BEST FOR FOG, GOT TO LIGHT UP TO BE SEEN.

BACK PROBLEMS ARE A REAL PIA. MAYBE A LITTLE SNAKE-BITE MEDICINE WOULD CONSOLE YOU WHILE YOU CONTEMPLATE THE ADVANTAGES OF AGING.

Morning guys....busy day already, early morning meeting, then the secretary calls me and says that the gradebook program is screwed up and I have to re-enter all my grades for this semester for all my classes. Luckily it only took me an hour to do that.

The boys won the game last night. For a big time tourney the hosts hadn't put much effort into it. The table workers SUCKED. Clock keeper couldn't start the clock or stop the clock on time, book keeper had things so screwed up. In the first half I, almost, went over to offer my services it was so bad, and our normal bookkeeper, who was sitting behind the players bench and trying to keep the "official" bookkeeper straight, was about to do the same thing. They were atrocious. Not what you should expect at a big-time tourney. Some of you may not realize how important to the outcome of the game accurate time and scorekeeping is. In a close game it can mean the difference in a win or a loss. Yes, I know it's only a freaking game, but to these boys it means a lot to them right now. In ten years, it won't mean a thing, and in the whole scheme of things it's just a drop in the bucket of life. But still, these kids deserve better.

OK, I'm off my soapbox.

Back mojo Marcus...
Workin my arse off today and yesterday at the graphics job - have had a huge crane with giant decals, a mack truck, a fire/rescue truck to color change and then add decals and photos all over for Nucor Steel here, plus a slew of other things. late night at the body shop Monday night, not sure what Tomorrow will bring at the graphics job or what will blow up at the body shop Friday. Breathe.. breathe...
Every time I find a car either someone else gets it or the last one come to find out she said it was priced wrong online and should be 5k more - told her no way I'd pay it since I was just looking at same year model, similar miles elsewhere for just 2k more than her 'other' price... ugh.. this is frustrating the the hell out of me. I want a car already.
What was that someone said about playing with a shaft??
My head's in the wrong place.... or theirs is

I'm back in the saddle again. Tons of stuff going wrong at the same time. I should have known. I was just starting to feel normal. .......... I know, I know. Normal for Tommy. Pets, cars, house stuff all on the docket. The car and house stuff is just annoying. The pet stuff is starting to pull on my heart strings. I have 2 dogs getting up in the years. (11) They are showing their age which isn't a good thing. Some unpleasant decisions may be in my future. Comes with the turf when your a pet owner. In all things there is a beginning and an end. Never can come to grips with that but whether I accept it or not there's always an end. You should see me when it goes down. Tough guy ....... Well I won't start balling till then. Tomorrow, next week, next month, next year. Don't know when but the time comes closer. Precious is spending the night at the vet. She's the one that recently lost her eye. The vet needs to talk to me in the morning. There are a few problems. Maybe treatable ...... maybe not.

You never get used to it you just adjust. Breeze, Buddy, Princess, Vito, Slinky and Candy the pig were all here before them. I've held many in my arms as they drew their last breath. That's just the pets. People are a whole other chapter. My father died when I was 12. I've been screwed up about it ever since. Ya, you get over it, you adjust to it and you watch as one after another fulfills their final destiny. Can't think about livin if you spend too much time thinkin about dyin. It's still a sad chapter in most everybody's life. Sorry, don't let it bring you down. I'm just venting. There is plenty of good to look forward to .... and I do.

One reason why I don't have, and never allowed my girls to have, pets. I had a dog when I was a kid, it just about killed me to see her get sick and suffer, until mom and dad had her put to sleep.
