Morning guys....Back to school today. It was a bit hard to get out of bed this morning as I've been sleeping in. But it won't take too long to get back into the swing of things. Today and tomorrow are supposed to be pretty nice...for winter in Kansas, high 30's and lower 40's, but we are headed to the deep freeze later this week -5*F predicted for Thursday night and a high of 8 on Friday.

Right back at you on the good day Tommy....

It was nothing special, I worked on the computer for a while, watched a little TV, and the wife and I were in bed by 10:15. We are having the daughter and three grandsons here today (SIL has to work).

I have a guy bringing over a staircase handrail for me to work on a little later, but other than that nothing planned for today. I worked on getting my business expenses and receipts for 2009 together, can't get to much of a head start on those taxes

Well, we had an uneventful trip home. 5 hours and 50 minutes of actual driving time, but with the stops about 7 hours. When we got home I started feeling crappy, achy, upset stomach. Then I turned on my computer...the blue screen of death on startup....even in safe mode. So I had to reinstall XP and all the programs (I haven't finished yet) and my router keeps going off, so I've been fighting that as well. I got to feeling so bad that I went to bed about 9:30. I'm feeling much better today. But still have to finish getting all the stuff back on the computer.

The wife and I are planning a quiet NYE here at home...may not even stay up to see it in, we are getting old. Less than two weeks away from my 55th birthday.

Morning CGs. Snow in KC too. We are headed home today around 9am, so we'll be fighting a little snow.

We've been invited to a family get-together NYE, but we've been gone all week and the wife has to work tomorrow and then turn around and head back just doesn't make sense. We're going to just stay home and enjoy it ourselves.

Have a good day.

I have accomplished quite a bit this year. Next year will be just as good....I hope. This year has flown by, as we get older, they seem to go by faster and faster. Thanks Tommy for the advice. Matt, I hope the little one gets to feeling better soon. Pete, those are tough times, but not surprising. Brad, that's great..seven weeks is one great start.

Good luck and a happy new year to all.

I finished hanging the sheet rock, and first coat of mud on (except the inside corners) yesterday...took until 11 pm. Today I am picking up the machine to blow insulation into the attic, so I will be crawling around on my belly in tight quarters today, but it will be good to have that done.

We are headed home tomorrow, so I need to get this stuff done.

Morning guys...I am getting ready to go over to the other daughters house and hang some sheet rock. Hopefully it won't take too long. Then I'll go buy the insulation and get the machine to blow it in. I'd like to get that all done today.

Hey guys, my first time at a computer in the last 60 hours...We had a great Christmas. The nasty weather kept my youngest daughter from being able to travel Christmas day. So they decided to try on Saturday...no luck it was still snowing and blowing. So the wife and I decided to make the trip east today. Weather was almost enjoyable today as we traveled 3 1/2 hours to see her, the hubby and granddaughter. We will spend a couple days here and head home Tuesday of Weds. Until then I am going to hang soem sheet rock and try to get the insulation blown into the ceiling, before I head home.

Man Ron, that sounds yucky. Matt, you're in the doghouse you just don't know it yet.... Tommy, I have faith that you will get that figured out, I'd check the grounds and the battery.

We are clear but windy. Our daughters from the KC area are absolutely snowed in, so I'm not sure when we will get to see them. We are off in about 10 minutes, so everyone out there have a Merry Christmas.

Not technically, but I did work out in my shop building a couple cabinets. And then this evening I had a phone call to come work on a computer, I just got home from that about 45 minutes ago. Just exactly what I wanted to do on Christmas eve.

Looks like we got by-passed on the snow...but the in-laws said there was ice there, so we'll have to watch for that when we leave in the morning. Got the local daughter and family (three grandsons) here tonight for Christmas. It will be a great time. The 5 year old still believes in Santa, so we'll have to have 'Santa' come by while we are at church. We'll hopefully have Christmas with the rest tomorrow, providing the weather lets them get there (one more grandson and 4 granddaughters).

I think I'll probably partake in some Christmas cheer tomorrow at the in-laws. Probably not as much as Matt last night, but enough.

Everyone have a great Christmas!

Morning guys. I'm waiting for the big blizzard to come. Was supposed to hit here by the time we got up this morning. We have a light dusting, but not the accumulation that they were predicting......yet.

I'm watching the two younger grandsons today. Other than that not much going on for me. The wife is working this morning, but will be home this afternoon.

Getting up early Christmas morning to head to the in-laws, about a three hour drive under normal conditions, but the storm is supposed to drop 10-15" between us and them so that might make the trip somewhat more challenging. Instead of the car, we might take the pickup, it's 4 wheel drive.

I just got home from helping the wife prepare and hand out the Christmas baskets for the needy in our county. This afternoon I was in charge of the turkeys....literally 12-14 lbers. I picked them up this morning about 1500 lbs worth in my pickup....that made her squat some.

I'm pretty pooped now, but what a great feeling to be able to help out those in need. Most are very grateful for the basket.

I think $300 million sounds about what Kansas is cutting. That relates to about $350,000 cut to our small district. I actually talked to our Supt about double dipping, I actually told them that I would consider teaching 4 hours in the morning. Not sure he was too receptive, but if he's not, it's no skin off my nose. My wife has at least 3 years before she can retire. But we get our health insurance through her work, so she will probably continue working for a while anyway. By teaching in the mornings I would have the same schedule as her and then we could make long weekends all the time.

Ron, pretty sure mine is the same. They called about two hours after the test and said that I needed 2 different inhalers, one is a long lasting, one puff every 12 hours and the other is for if I need something quick to relieve shortness of breath.

My immune system, is pretty much in the dumpster too. In the last 5 years I've developed psoriasis, and it manifests itself on the palms of my hands. It makes working with wood, tools or anything tough at times.

98 days for me Ron, but who's counting? ........ME. I've got one kid whose job it is each day to subtract one from the number on the board. When we go back January 4 it'll read 98.

I'm not doing much yet today. I have to go to the Dr. office and have a test for pulmonary function, they are thinking that I may have asthma. With all the wood dust, spray residue and environmental dust that I am subjected to, it's not all that surprising.

I have a couple small jobs to do in the next couple of days. Tomorrow, I am helping my wife as she is in charge of our counties' "food pantry' and we are handing out Christmas baskets for the needy. That is always a wonderful experience.

The weather has been fantastic here the last 4 days (including today), but changes are on the horizon, they are predicting a winter storm watch Wednesday afternoon and into Thursday. Is going to make travel a bit rough. Hopefully Christmas morning the roads will be clear enough for us to make the trek to the in-laws without issue.

Well then, I'm not going to rub it in and say, that we have had beautiful weather here the last 3 days...in the 50's. I'm actually going to get the Vette out today and take it for a drive. Ok I am going to rub it in.

Afternoon....I got a couple little jobs done this morning and then the wife and I decided to try and finish up the Christmas shopping. We headed for the 'city' and I think we got everything that we needed to finish up. She is wrapping now. Matt, I'd give her a little, she probably won't take much, usually they take just a little and then go back to sleep.

DB, I read the other thread, I know that you are getting frustrated, but JrRC is right. The driver you need to load is the controller for the HD. Not sure where you go to get it, but a Google search should come up with something.

No, actually Bill they are looking to cut three teachers in the district as the projected cuts affecting the state trickle down to the schools. I'm pretty sure that our supt is licking his chops at my retirement date of June 2010. That way he only has to figure out two more.

Been a laid back day here at school. the kids haven't wanted to do much of anything...I did get my woodworking classes to clean the shop. My drafting students couldn't get into it much, even though three of them haven't finished what's due for the semester. Oh well it's their decision. This afternoon we are showing a movie (Elf) to the student body...remember we have 180 students in the high school. I asked if I could have the shop open for my kids that wanted to work instead of watching the movie...so I have three out here working.

I have a pretty busy week planned for next week, so if I don't make it back, you all have a merry Christmas.

Morning Gurus.....it's pretty cool here to start off 19*, but is going to warm up into the upper 40's today. I haven't stepped on a scale since my last Dr. visit, don't want to. I've never been to Europe, I'd like to some day. Awaiting the pictures, Andy.

Brad, it's cold here too, not quite as cold as you guys though, 7* and now it's 16. Headed for a high of 35*. Tomorrow is supposed to be a bit warmer, 49*. I picked up a couple of more little jobs for some extra spending cash. I worked on a computer until about 11pm last night, and I had a lady call me about, as she put it, "A wood emergency", her bed got broke from her husband and there daughter jumping on it, the frame rail broke. I got that one fixed, built a new side rail out of real Oak, not cheapy plywood. I finished up some chairs that I redid the seats on, and got those delivered. This afternoon (after school) I go back and hang the cabinet to finish up the desk job and collect my final payment. The lady was thrilled that I got it all done and was really surprised and happy.

Bill, sent you drawings. The dim not shown.... the casing and stools are 3/4" thick the "divider piece" at the top is 1/2" thick x 1" wide and bullnosed with a 1/4"R quarter round so it sticks out in front like it does on the sides of the drawing.

Bill, that piece is 1/2" thick, the casing itself is 4" wide. The stool is 4" wide as well. The end to edge butt joints are darn sure easier to do than miters. I see where yours don't fit quite right. That's frustrating, because the wall itself is causing that. But the coping around the stool looks really good.

VB, I'm not sure that I can answer your question any better than what has been said already. But I will say that, from all the da*n psych courses we were required to take, that some men are just like that. Unfortunately, it appears that there are more and more of them all the time. From someone who has been happily married for 34 years (we've been going together since we were sophomores in high school 38 years), I've been tempted by women, but I never gave in to the temptations...it just isn't worth it. Your guy just doesn't see it that way I guess. Hopefully you'll find someone that sees things that way someday.

Last week before Christmas break. So next Monday I can say the same thing, Matt. Kids seem to be OK yet, no "break fever" as of yet, but it's bound to happen sometime this week.

Miters just stink, Bill. I hate to do them, because I rarely am happy with them. Yours don't look bad at all.

Oh, BTW I don't have to do the staining or finishing on the windows, they've got a guy coming back in to do that. And there is an antique wall unit that will fit in between the bookcases, but I am waiting for the lady to return to tell me how high she wants it.

Morning folks. Had some friends come by last evening, I worked on their computers (2). This morning I got up and went back down to the house where I've been working, took some sandpaper and took some pictures. So here's a couple of my handy work. I made all the trim around the windows to match the trim in the house...a 110 year old original.

Oh, it already 45* and is supposed to be pretty nice all week. You can keep your snow. Oh, I got some pictures from my cousin who lives in Pahrump. They have snow there, which like Bill says....."is very unusual".

Daughter and SIL had an issue with Radon after they bought their house. They had a company come in and they put in what ended up looking like a sump pump hole and pump to pipe the gas out from under the basement floor to vent it outside. I guess it works, but when we finished the basement it was a PITA to work around.

Well, today it did a little better than they were predicting...made it all the way to 52*...yea baby, most of the snow we had is disappearing fast. Tomorrow is supposed to be about the same. Most of the white s*#t should be gone. I got pretty much finished up today with the cabinet job. Worked from 9 until 4:30 with the wife helping. She cleans up behind me so when I get done there is less to do. I'm sure that the people will be tickled pink when they return as I told them I would not get the windows trimmed out before Christmas...they are in for a surprise when they walk in the door tomorrow.

My butts a dragging and I have to do the readings in church tonight, hope I can keep my eyes open long enough.

Morning Matt and the rest off you Gurus...We went out Christmas shopping last night...I think we are just about done. We've cut back pretty much the last couple of years. We give the grandkids bonds and a small something, and the kids we usually give money to use how they see fit.

Today the temps are suppose to moderate some, upper 30 and lower 40's I am going to work on that cabinet job and try to finish up...not sure I'll get it done but I am going to try. I told them I probably would not finish until after the holidays, so they will be surprised by the progress (they have been gone and will return Monday).

We're having a heat wave today...all the way up to +9*. Supposed to warm up a bit this weekend. The grandson didn't have as good of a game last night, only 8 points and 9 rebounds, but they won. 1.8 seconds left they fouled him and he made 2 freethrows to win by 1.

Yea, that's them! But I'd rather have the second batch!

The heaters in the shop aren't working too well and it's 56* out there.

-8 here right now. Kids are freezing as they come in. Grandson has another game today, hopefully he'll have as good a game as he did Monday.

Man you guys are having a heat wave....it's -3* F here this morning. Skies cleared off and the temps dropped like a rock. We have school today, but it won't be much fun for the kids moving between buildings. I think I'll stay put today instead of going to the main building for lunch.

Have a good day.

I got some work done today. Would be nice to get another day tomorrow, but that would be asking too much.

We, too, have had snow...enough so that they have canceled school for today. I can now go out and work on some of that trim I need to do for that job I am working on. We have the oldest grandson here as he stayed with us after getting home from his b-ball game last night. He had a double double...19 points and 14 rebounds in the game and they won 44-37.

CC, what kind of music are you interested in? Most of mine is late 60's and 70's rock. I may be interested in selling mine as well.

Cold, cold, cold is all I have to say. Snow in the forecast starting tonight and into tomorrow. Not looking forward to that. Kids are beginning to smell Christmas break...come to think of it, so are we teachers. I still have lots of stuff to do before Christmas, so I'll be working both ends of the candle.

That's just the way I did them. Bought the vinyl and made cassettes out of them and saved the vinyl. I still have probably 100 LPs to do. But I'm down to the ones that have scratches and have been played and played, these will be considerably more work with the "pop and hiss assassin".

Wow that engine looks great! Tommy, have a good time on the cruise and we will be thinking and praying for your ex FIL.

I spent yesterday installing cabinets and counter top, measuring and cutting stock, for some additional trim I have to make for the job.

Today our men's group from church did a fund raiser. We sold and made 120 dozen beirrocks, for you guys up north, I think you call them Runza's. We have the process down pretty well and we started at 9am this morning and I was out delivering by 1:30 and we were all done cleaned up and home by 3pm. The project usually nets us about $1500 so it's a good project, we get to spend some quality time together and it allows us to raise money for the charities that we support.

Young whipper-snapper..... I bought a mixer and software package that does the same thing Bill, to do mine. Remember DAK? (For you youngin's, this was a guy, Drew A. Kaplan, back in the 60's,70's and 80's that we bought Hi-Fi electronic components from) Well that's where I got mine. I've done quite a few, but not all of my vinyl. I bought a 250Gb HDD to keep it all. Converted them all to MP3s.

Brad, I got rid of most all my 8 tracks years ago.

Moanin...is right. It was 4* this morning, 6* when I left for school. Man that's cold for this time of year. Those are some awesome pictures there Bill, kind of reminds me of Western Kansas, except for the mountains.....and lake.....and trees.....and people......OK I guess it's nothing like Western Kansas.
