Merry Christmas from the blizzerd of 09. We are getting hammerd here. I have 5 ft drifts or more and the whole eastern part of the state has been shut down. We have power and food and lots of new stuff to mess with so we are doing good so far. I do have portable power but would hate to go out and hook it up.

I seem to recall that I once tried to put early finned valve covers with the Corvette script on my 79 L82 and they did not work. I later put some fuelie heads on the the 79 and then they did work. That was a long time ago though.

Very cool! The Ray Allen A/Stocker on page 9 is in this monthes Hot Rod magazine. It sold at auction for 240K. It had sold in 2006 for 1.2 million. It has 61 miles on it. That whole era was exciting due to the rapid advancements that were being implemented on an almost weekly bases. I can't believe how frail that Garlets rail looks compared to what we see today. Injectors seem ok but I can run a test If I can find the thread on how to do it.

I am going to tune up my 90 with 53K. Plugs, wires, cap and coil, rotor. Don't know the history on the car so for a winter project I thought I would start fresh for next season. Should I also replace the ignition module at this time? Should that be part of the normal tune up or not? I appreciate the help, Merry Christmas!

I was always glad Ford kept the muscle car thing going when the others gave up. Except for the Corvette of course. I never did compare the Vette with a mustang though. Mustangs were pony cars and Corvettes were sports cars. Back in the day in small town America we grew up knowing a Corvette was the fastest car in town and that's where the legend grew for me/ I'm with BillH, I'm a Chevy Corvette guy and I will put my money on that mark.

I was a bad boy for the first 30 years. Hardtail Harleys and big block Corvettes. Lots of drinking and fighting. Many broken relationships. I squeezed a 4 year degree into 13 years. I was a mess. but I was having fun.

I woke up one morning hung over as usual, looked around and realized that I was heading no where real fast. I was not only heading there I had arrived. Deep down I wanted better but I needed help. I got down and did something weird I asked the Lord for some help and it was fast in coming. Got locked up for DUI (and speeding in that big block Vette)the next night and it was at that point I said enough. I quit drinking ( I know that scares a lot of you especially if you are from down under)and smoking and packed up and moved far away and started over. What the hell I had been drunk for 15 years, that was enough. I saw booze as the core of what all the fighting and broken relationships came from for me. I could not handle it.

I had to change who I had become and get back to who I really was. to do this I had to radically change my life. I did that and I started hanging with some square folks and the rest is history. Sometimes you need a change of scenery and who and where you hang out. I still have my bad ass Harley and my Corvette (very small block)but I also have a trophy wife of 26 years and 3 great kids and a good business. Start looking for quality guys, the older they get the more baggage they have but they are out there. You will find someone if you are willing to look in the right places. Sorry this got so long!

I thought I just read that the C7 was back schedual and there was going to be a split window. I don't like the looks of the prototype that much. Kinda batmobile like.

I'm telling you it's global warming! We have to vote for people who will pass a lot of laws and raise our taxes and we should not drive our cars anymore. These winters are getting soooo bad! Yeah right! We don't even know what a bad winter is anymore. Talk to some of the old timers (of which I almost qualify)they can tell you about the winter of 49 or in the 50's. My Dad and Mom were on the way back from Montana to school in Lincoln and got caught in Chadron NE in the 49 blizzard and were there a week. Folks opened up there homes to those that were stranded. The drifts were huge,as tall as some houses. Nobody had even heard of carbon debt or greenhouse gas and the weather was much more extreme in those days. I'm not saying we need to be stupid, I am sure there are ligit concerns with all the people we now have but I always figured that if the Lord designed this rock to support mankind he had to make it somewhat idiot proof. My 1/2 ton Chevy's have an auto button that you can push which leaves it in 2wd unless it starts to slip then the 4wd kicks in. It's not that way on the 3/4 ton stuff, there it's one or the other. We got 10 inches and a lot of drifts.

Big snow in Nebraska! I have a blade on my Honda 4 trax and I have pushed snow 3 times today to keep up. We have a fire in the fireplace and had soup and grilled cheese for supper which went down well. The C4 is tucked away in the garage waiting for me to tackle the new sound system I hope to get for Christmas. Stay warm! M

Goodmorning Guru's, woke up at 4:45 and headed for the kitchen for a drink of water, walked into the living room and saw our 9 ft Christmas tree we had decorated, laying sound asleep on the floor. I hated that tree the minute I saw it at the tree farm but the kids thought it was lonely all by itself with no other trees around it. There was a reason it was all by itself. It presents itself well on the front side but the back is a disaster. We only need one good side and the nice man at Windmill Pines tree farm said he would give me a goood deal on it. It looked like a banana laying in the back of the Duramax but for that price I was determined to make it work. We tied it up with 50lb test fish line but only used one strand. One wasn't enough and now I got that thing tied in so many places I could jump on it and it won't fall over.

Then I got to go out and shovel the snow. It's the good life here in the midlands. We are still reeling over the last second loss to Texas in the Big 12 Championship. Honestly! How many new ways to lose is there? I was at Wal-mart and they just have the Prozac sitting out in bins for people to help themselves. Oh well on to the Holiday Bowl and Arizona. If anyone saw the game, you saw an epic defensive show and a very weak offensive, but we put Colt McCoy on his ass a bunch of times. Everyone have a good day. marcus

Thanks guys, I am pondering all my options. I believe I will use a seperate amp but does that just increase the amps you get in the head or do you buy a unit that has no amp power on it's own? This audio stuff is greek to me.

I first grew my mustache in 1969. It was bad and I had to burn a match then rub it on my fuzz to make it look darker. Later in my drunken fighting stage of my life I sustained damage to my upper lip when I kept throwing my face into some dudes fist to see if I could hurt his knuckles. Then it became a cosmetic thing and so I have had it 40 years. Yikes!! No more matches though. M

I was on a Sunday cruise to a village further west to look at some audio equipment for my 90. I liked the Alpine unit which is XM ready, bluetooth and mp3, 200 watts. Speakers I wasn't sure about either the Pioneer or the Alpines. The XM module to make it work on the head unit is $130 for all the pieces. I don't think I need an amp. I am not an audiophile but know when something sounds good and I don't need to shake the windows of the neighbors with the bass. Hardware around $450 and $150 to $200 to install it in the car. Does that sound about right? What would you rec on hardware? Thanks

I got up late and awoke to the smell of a 24 pounder slow roasting in the oven. I laid in bed and listened to the sound of my families voices as they worked away in the kitchen. Later we will feast and give thanks for our family and all the blessings we have in this great country we live and work in. It is a cool sunshiny day out just the kind of air that gives some pep to the old Corvette. I am thinking a little drive to help digest later may be in order, especially if the football game is boring. Hope you all are blessed as well wherever you are at. I enjoy learning from you. Marcus

Does the drivers seat's side bollsters come off the seat. I would like to get the leather redone where it wears getting in and out? Can I get the same smoke gray leather from some vendor? They are sport seats in my 90. Thanks

I see that Car and Driver left out the Corvette for the first time in 8 years. They do not blame the performance but they hate the shabby interior and say you can get a world class driver invironment in cars for half the money. They are pissed GM can't put the whole package together. They say bring on the C7.

I like the interior in my 90 but it has a lot of plastic also. My favorite interiors were in my C2's and early C3's.

I used to love Hook and the Medicine Show. Cover of the Rolling Stone was a good one. Tiffany Jo can bring it

It's good to see sportsmanship and dignity in losing being taught. We don't have that stuff out here. A few fist fights in the parking lot between the Dads but no rock throwing. Come to think about it we don't have many rocks out here.

You need to call back and set up a date with one. Have you driven one? I have only looked at them and never even sat in one. I have been keeping an eye on a yellow Z06 at a dealer not to far from here. Not that I could ever afford it but just to see how long it sits. It's been there since spring. Nice looking ride!

The car runs great but I was going to tune it (plugs, wires, dist.) just so I know it's all fresh. Bought the vette the end of last summer and had very little service history. Marcus

When do you need or have to change injectors? Would it improve performance to take out the stock units on my 90 with 50K that is running ok, or do you change them when the car is running poorly. I am going to tune it this winter.

I have a couple of thousand miles on a set I bought in early Sept. They are the all season version since I knew there would be no track time. I like them a lot. They are quiet and go around our one curve real well. Mine cost about $128 each. I've been recommending them. Only 2K miles though. I will watch them closer. Ecsta ASX. They had a fair review on Tire Rack and a hell of a good price.

Vise Grips were invented by a guy in De Witt Nebr and for years and years the factory was in that town and provided jobs for many folks. A large company bought them out and moved the whole thing to China. The town just dried up and blew away.
