That's kinda cool. I never thought about that kind of usage for those, but it does make quite a lot of sense, actually.
Sooooo.... let's see.... what else can we use, say... rubbers for?????
haha!

I got to start my L'il MIss... one last time yesterday and drive her about 20 feet.....
Filled out the paperwork for the dude that bought the black cantankerous teenager beotch last night and he came got her.
I will miss her. January will have made 12 years that I've had her. As he got in the car he had a huge smile on his face.. said "I can't believe I now have a Corvette" .. started her with a loud thunder and when he left the parking lot he dug in with all he had and she laid rubber down all the way out....
I'll miss her... And lo and behold today while I was out cruising in the 'new to me' Corvette.. what so happened to pass right before me.... the '96!!!!! my chest got tight... I followed her gaze all the way from left to right till she was out of sight... damn.

Matt - for the fevery baby... pile up in bed with very warm fluids, keep covers on, give a cool bath with a rag soaked in alcohol, then put baby back in comfy cotton jammies... cover up, KEEP covered up and feed very warm soup... fever will break. When the sweating starts, keep the covers on... grammaws don't lie ..... I'm not a granny but even in my 20s when I got sick that's where I headed...

Not to be personal but in a time of necessity, I was given one at work one time - "wings" and all... what the hell????
I went into the restroom, and immediately came back out and went back in with a pair of scissors. Just what the hell is all that shit for??? And I'm a WOMAN asking this! That damned thing looked like one of those bandages you see on a newborn when the umbilical cord gets cut.

Sorry to hear the news, Don. I pray that everyone on the east coast has minimal issues.
I really have no plans this weekend. Need to put some furniture in my new screen house out back, clean the inside of the vette, housework is all caught up. Hope everyone has a great one.

Soooo Letty tell us! I love this kinda stuff. People never speak up anymore or tell it the way it is!

This might be kinda gross but first, keep in mind I am the only girl working with four guys so I hear it all.
Apparently there was a lady in front of me who asked to have her watermelon put into her large purse so it would be easier for her to carry to the car. Another soon after asked for something else to be put in her purse.
Well, here I come buying meat, veggies, tuna, salmon, etc.... and panty liners (you can probably guess where this is headed)... the check out kid might have been 18, the bagger was maybe that old. They were still laughing at the watermelon lady in front of me when the check out kid asked if i wanted the fish in my purse. He thought I'd heard the other stuff which transpired in front of me. I'd not. I told him, "no that would be kinda gross - besides - did you ask me that because I purchased panty liners also that would be going into my purse?"..... The checkout kid stuttered a lot and apologized profusely. The kid bagging dropped what he was holding and covered his mouth with both hands and turned around to keep from laughing out loud.
I couldn't help myself. It just rolled straight out of my mouth and I was poker faced as I could be.
I grabbed my stuff, gave the grocery bagging kid a smile and wink and calmly walked out of the store and laughed like hell when I got into the car

Bill I'll trade you weather, our temps have been in upper 90s with humidity close to the same.
You start sweating the very second you open your front door.
Don, I hope things work out weather wise for your weekend too.
Today is my Friday, dread going to work but hopefully the day will be over with soon.
Have a good one.

Keeping fingers crossed for you, Don.
Rained again today, man I sure did want to stay in bed all day. Oh well, at least I came home to a clean house, been busting my hiney all week and weekend in here rearranging and throwing out junk and stuff. Looked like something straight out of Hoarders. Nothing like watching that show for motivation. Had another half way pleasant day at work today, not sure what's got the boss in a good mood.

Wow, we all either are up before daylight or all sleep in.
+1 on the sleeping in today, I rolled out of the rack about 11.
Took off Friday afternoon to the West End Smokehouse and Tavern in Little Rock - friend of mine is a drummer and their band played there that night. Awesome show, they did great. Drove home yesterday. Was up till 5am so not much sleep, came home yesterday the neighbors showed up here till last night visiting, got in bed about 10. I passed out. Had planned to clean house today but really don't see anything happening around here.

I grew up in a podunk little town named Trumann, Arkansas - bout 6,000 or so. The local highway was not very long but there was a Guy's Discount store on one end, we'd all sit in that parking lot, and on the other end, there was a small toolbox factory that had a front parking lot just big enough for us all to turn around in. We'd sit on the tailgates of trucks and hoods of cars at Guy's and watch all our friends. On Saturday nights I worked at Walker's Dairy Freeze and our friends would come in there to flirt and visit. A little later they built a McDonald's a little farther down the highway that lengthened our route. My boyfriend worked there so I'd pull by by the drive thru window and wave or give him a kiss.
Crossing that highway was another more deserted route that the guys would take their cars and race.Kids still run up and down that road...

Morning all.... Man, reading Tommy's housework posts each day makes me tired before I leave the house. I wish I had all that energy! I'm looking forward to cooler fall temps also, but I've not driven a vette much of the summer and just now am in one so I'd like summer to last just a wee bit longer. Made the mistake of leaving the top down night before last, got in it yesterday and there were cat feet all in there, pissed me off but lesson learned. Headed off to work in a bit, really wish I was where I didn't have to work but, don't we all? Finally was sleeping good about the time the alarm sounded.

cool kiddos!
That bridge would freak me out too.
I ended up staying up after waking up at the butt crack of daylight, ran an errand or two, tried to nap, didn't work out. Got the top dropped on the car, hit a friend's pool, had a shot of some $94 tequila and I swear Jose is better (and I hate Jose).. got propositioned by a swinging couple, got the heck out then drove a while in the car, came home and had dinner. Quite a strange evening to say the least. But I made a little cash upon arriving home, had an email for a small freelance job - already done
Have a good one y'all....

Wow... someone beat me up in the middle of the night....
Woke up like this yesterday and went back to bed finally and didn't get back up till noon. I can't stand to waste the weekend like that. I sure do wish I had your determination and energy! I got stuff to do around here also. You'd think with a new car I'd be all excited to be out there cleaning on it and stuff.
Oh well, I've got a good breakfast planned for me this morning, gonna stay in my ratty shorts and Willie Nelson First Aid Shirt, do some freelance and chill. Maybe hit a friend's pool, not sure.
Y'all have a good one

BeachBum...Thank you for posting links, and no offense taken and you're correct - I have no idea that would ahve benefited me directly.
But, when it comes to providing for illegals when us 'legal' ones have trouble getting needed assistance I get torqued up.
Living in a box called Arkansas, you often feel as if the 'moms with 48 kids' and such is native only to here. Seems other states (at least on the inside looking out) have more control over their systems. It also does not help the media will take on the worst of the rumors and push those which stirs up the public including people like me.
The kids in all this? They're innocent. Support them? Cruel not to. But, when I had a girl friend of mine say one time that she considered getting pregnant again cause it would get her another $xxx per month, I bout lost it. And, I know there are a lot of other women out there like that as well.
We could go on and on about this, but there's no foolproof plan in my opinion, but options should be available for those that do need it and can't afford other options.
then again, if those 'other options' weren't so over priced then that would make things a lot easier. And, in any plan there must be guidelines and limits whether we like them or not.
In the end we all pay for all of it no matter what.

Obamacare

At age 76 when you most need it, you are not eligible for cancer treatment

What Nancy Pelosi didn't want us to know until after the healthcare bill was passed. Remember she said, "pass it and then read it!!." Here it is! ______________________________

Obama Care Highlighted by Page Number

THE CARE BILL HB 3200

JUDGE KITHIL IS THE 2ND OFFICIAL WHO HAS OUTLINED THESE PARTS OF THE CARE BILL.

Judge Kithil of Marble Falls, TX - highlighted the most egregious pages of HB3200

Please read this........ especially the reference to pages 58 & 59

JUDGE KITHIL wrote:

** Page 50/section 152: The bill will provide insurance to all non-U.S. residents, even if they are here illegally.

** Page 58 and 59: The government will have real-time access to an individual's bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts.

** Page 65/section 164: The plan will be subsidized (by the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - ACORN).

** Page 203/line 14-15: The tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax. (How could anybody in their right mind come up with that?)

** Page 241 and 253: Doctors will all be paid the same regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors' fees.

** Page 272. section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration care according to the patient's age.

** Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception.

** Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an "end-of-life planning" seminar every five years. (Death counseling..)

** Page 429, line 13-25: The government will specify which doctors can write an end-of-life order.

HAD ENOUGH???? Judge Kithil then goes on to identify:

"Finally, it is specifically stated that this bill will not apply to members of Congress. Members of Congress are already exempt from the Social Security system, and have a well-funded private plan that covers their retirement needs. If they were on our Social Security plan, I believe they would find a very quick 'fix' to make the plan financially sound for their future."

- Honorable David Kithil of Marble Falls, Texas

Yay, Obama... now will those who voted him into office please stand?
That's what I thought.

I am not sure how to respond to this.... for the simple reason, is that of all the people on this board, he's trying to help you the most based upon the above described situation by yourself, but the right is fighting him on that. And yet, you're anti-Obama.... the irony. You are aware, that ObamaCare would provide healthcare for those who cannot afford it as it appears you might have been while unemployed ?.... the other system of no ObamaCare means you keep doing what you're complaining about, because nothing changes from what it is now, if anything, services diminish based upon the cuts the right want to make in social healthcare.... I suspect Medicare/Medicaid are going to be hurt pretty hard in the coming decade, but not sure.

If anybody should be a supporter of him on this board, its you based upon what you are describing above.

I am personally not supporting for or against ObamaCare.... I have never studied the issue close enough to come to a definitive conclusion, but I do know, with his system everybody buys insurance that can afford it, and those that cannot afford it are provided healthcare on some level or at least that is what I think the basic building block of it is, somebody correct me if I am wrong. Apparently, in Mass, as instituted by Romney, this system is working with a high citizen approval rate and I read somewhere that it actually saved them money..... I don't know if that is true myself.

And it certainly doesn't appear any substantial amount of it is designed for non-citizens on any level. (Even though they too have paid hundreds of millions into the system as per my earlier links)

It does beg the question, Romney said he is against it on a Federal level, because it won't work for the USA, but works great for the state of MA..... I do not completely understand that. They have rich people, middle class and poor people in MA, just like the rest of the country....he either flipped on this subject because of the platform he has to follow to appease both his party and the tea-party or there is something else he's not talking about..... I don't know.

Good discussion though.

I'm not quite sure how to respond to you either, given the fact you dont know me yet you choose to blast me.
Not sure how you figure Obama was trying to help me the most when I see people who have jobs and new vehicles get all kinds of gov't assisance and I had no job of any kind and got nothing.
Am I mad? No, not really - just the people here that 'work the system'. I'm a little more honest I suppose.
In a perfect world, as the system was originally intended? Yes, I'd agree that people like me who are in TEMPORARY distress would receive aid as needed. But here in Arkansas, we have those who milk the system and ruin it for everyone and nothing gets done. Those elderly and others that truly need it end up going without.
I attended a medical facility that is 'supposed' to divvy out 'free' heathcare for those who are unemployed, etc - a free clinic and I literally had ZERO income for three months yet my minimum payment, although not much but huge when you have none was $35, and I did not receive free meds, light bill help, hud or any other of those services that a lot of my neighbors received. no real explanation was ever given to me.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to call anyone out or blast anyone just looking back at my personal experiences. I'm the minority here - not retired, or wealthy or married, etc. Just a single working person who happened to befall on bad luck for a bit.
However, in MY AREA IN ARKANSAS....
If I was a crack head, or here illegally or had 48 kids and 48 different daddies adn drove an Escalade, sure I'd get all the help I needed. I see it every day here. They know how to 'work' the system.
I do not agree with his thinking that ObamaCare should be freely given to illegals. They SHOULD however, get a free bus ticket home. That right there is my stand on it all, and ANY president that sees otherwise does not have my support, period.
I feel grateful to have found employment fast. But, I WAS LOOKING. They don't around here. Around here, the system entices people to stay on it instead of helping themselves improve their situations.
I did not vote for Obama and frankly could care less for him and all the problems he has caused.
I work for a living and provide for myself and I'll be damned if one red cent of mine goes to any illegal that can't come here and work honestly and pay their due share of taxes. Those that are paying - scooby snack to them. I can show you a dozen living in one house three doors down from me that do not.
I have no problem with government run healthcare so long as it's fair and constitutional and not FORCED.
And, I'm not mad that I didn't receive aid, but am not hapyy that others who do not need it here are the ones who do receive it. Perhaps it's just an Arkansas thing....
and, as you say "good discussion" but it's one that I'm afraid I simply need to duck out of before I piss anyone else off with my bold opinions and smart mouth.
Good evening, all no offense intended.

thanks for the well wish, Rich. Neurology visit went fine, seems the Idneral is the drug of choice for the tremors although it affects my energy level. Still trying to find a sleep solution, Trazodone is off the list it don't play nice with the Inderal. He wrote me for Seroquel but when I went to fill it yesterday, it was over $300 for a one month supply of the smallest dose they have. Hell no.
Thus, as you guessed it, I'm up again in the middle of the night writing to you guys....

Guess I'm the first one up around here so I'll get one started
Went to bed early, still sick, it was cool and raining and thundering so I opened the windows - was really nice. Now it's 3am and it's hot as hades and humid. Woke up hot and muggy. Got some laundry started, closed the windows, cranked up the air and am now surfing the net. Hopefully soon I'll be back asleep. Hoped to get the vette out with top down later but there's another chance of rain again so maybe just some groceries and other errands in the pickup, and maybe try to fix the jiggly headlight.
Or not.
Have a good day everyone.

Glad to hear your good news, Rich!
Good luck with the job interview, Don and Tommy - take it easy on the lifting... low backs are priceless and when you blow one - well....
Nice and sunny here, gotta neurologist appointment today myself, then meeting a client around noon to pick up some side job work. Hit the shop later and pick the car back up.
Speaking of which, those of you who have the C5s and are having the seat sliding issue... that little kit he bought fixed it right up if any of you are interested I'll see what it is he bought.
Have a good day y'all...

This one's gotta do me a while, come January, I'll have had the '96 for 12 years. It's time for something else.

The seat rocking issue is common, both my seats were that way at 56k miles. There are kits available with nylon washers to fix them, or you can do like I did and buy some nylon washers at Lowes and make them square to fit. I think there is a pictorial how to online somewhere.....I remember seeing it. Anyway, if anyone decides to do it themselves, let me know and I'll tell you the steps as I remember them. We (Trae and I) did mine in a couple hours.

And the Column Lock thing, in my experienced opinion, is not nearly the terrible problem that one would think by reading threads on the CF. Teebee helped point me in the right direction when I had issues with mine, and as it turned out, the only issue I had was trying to avoid the problem!

Enjoy the new ride......and let's see some pics!

Morning all...
Dropped off the '02 so the seat could be rebuilt yesterday, picked my old one back up to drive in the mean time, today it's due to rain so I'm in the pickup. Funny how different vehicles feel so different driving them. Looking forward to a long dreary day at the office. have an appointment coming at 1 to finalize a wrap elsewise, I'd go home. Sick as a dawg. When I find out where I got it, I'm returning it. I have a pretty good idea.

That was introduced on the 2005's, Letty.

At least it doesn't say "Buckle Your Seatbelt" .

damn, I want to change mine. Surely there's a way to hack that.
I've heard about the seat sliding issue from a few people and supposedly there was a warranty fix for it, not sure. A friend has a Z06 and his is doing it also.

The car runs good, very different from what I 'm used to. The faster I go the lighter it feels. In the C4, the faster I went the more it seemed to squat and grab the pavement. Cornering is different as well. The cam is nice, but it does need that low end. It's supposed to get tuned sometime in the next few days. Getting the seat rebuilt this week. Also, got a "kit" that's supposed to fix that seat 'sliding' issue I've heard about from others. We'll see if that works.

Just a few things with this 'new to me' '02....
The passenger side headlight jiggles. Body shop friend has messed with it and thinks I'll need a new assembly or whatever in there. Seriously? There a way to fix that for now?
Also, on the dash when you start the car, his '06 lets him program what it says, but mine only says 'Corvette by Chevrolet' or something like that. Can I change it?
And, there's been a cam added (288/588) but stock stall left. Suggestions?

Very beautiful morning here, nice to be outside for a change.
Except sometime during my stay in Bowling Green I ended up bringing home a cold, or maybe took it with me. Not sure, feel crappy.
Got the replacement for BCTB paid for so now I really need to find her a new home fast. Tags are gunna kill me.
Congrats on the anniversary teebee!
Hope y'all have a good afternoon.

Woke up to rain this morning, well, the 2nd time I woke up . Been feeling blinky lately, got up at 8:30, got up again around 10:30. Beer for breakfast, trying to get my chores done. Uploading a book to a printer today so now I can bill that out and put some cash in the bank. Afterall, tags for the new (to me) car will run about a grand. Ugh.
Rain due for the next several days. Figures. I'm leaving for Bowling Green Saturday morning and have a bunch of errands to run including gassing that thing up. I hate rain, and it's not helping our temps here, either. Still in high 90s expected.

Good afternoon, all. Work day nearly half over then it's a long weekend. Headed to Bowling Green Saturday morning with four others. Picked up the other car last night to take it. That sucker sure is different. Easier to get in and out of my C4 that it is this C5. Cam feels different too. and, I noticed it apparently has a smaller gas tank???? Didn't take quite as much to fill up as the C4.
Don, best of luck on the job hunt - it will all work out. When one door closes there's supposed to be a better one opening for you they say. The paper I was employed for 16 years permanently laid our whole graphics department off at Christmas year before last. Gave us 3 months pay. Before the time was up a job came looking for me. It's not what I dreamed of but keeps bills paid so I can look for something better. it will all work out for you.
It's only 90 here at the moment, but yesterday did make the 106 degree high with a heat index of 120. I'm ready to leave Arkansas and join the Alaska caravan....

Good luck on the job hunt, Don. Same with you guys on your houses... pics?
gonna be a hawt one here today. High projected of 106 with a heat index of 115. Jeebus Cripes this is nuts. It's affecting the inside of my apartment also. My light switch plates are crying. There's condensation coming out from behind them and it makes the plastic plates kinda curl. Also in my closets it's very hot and there's condensation in there. I'm sick of this hot mess. It's been at or near 100 here for a couple months now. I hate winter but this is ridiculous.

First of all I don't have a 'home phone' just the cell and I don't get those calls. Worked so far. And if a number calls my cell that I don't recognize I don't answer. It really pisses me off those people like that they target the elderly people a lot.

thanks all for the car compliment. I'm still skeert about it. hope like heck I did the right thing. This one will have to last a looooooong time.
speaking of skeeert - I bet those folks in that Amtrak had some wet drawers on. I would have.
I have the Magnaflows on the '96 and I love them. Had Flowmaster on the previous car and absolutely hated them. WAY too loud. Sounded like a dragster. The Mags on the '96 are just right.
I do not, however like the sound of the '02 I'm getting. Everyone else likes it but me.
apparently not everyone woke up and pissed, either. The world still feels like it's on fire....
have a good day all...

I still have the 96, this all happened yesterday. I'm still not sure if I'm happy about it all or not. Been thinking about it, but kept getting cold feet. I think they call that a tiger shark body kit or something. The 96 goes to the first fair offer and it ain't gotta be much!

Thanks Tommy. If I was there I'd give you a hand with your projects. I enjoy things like that. Redid two houses that I lived in prior to moving where I am now. I hope to still be able to feel like jumping into the fire (and able to afford to) later on as well, but I guess it's just scary since I'm single and the economy is so crappy. Congrats on your house, now let's see some photos

This has me freaked out, stressed, worried about my future, my retirement and all that mess. Does this mean I'm having a midlife crisis since I"m single? I thought that's what happened when I bought the pickup truck....
and, this makes my third vette, all three were some variation of silver and black - not intentional...

Drambuie! I've not had any of that since my dad was here. He used to make the stuff, told me to take it to the deer woods with me and sip on it to keep me warm.
Goof, he never wanted me to shoot a deer....
HOpe you had a great bday

Pretty, shiny toys
Happy birthday, Don!
Gonna be way hot here too. Heat index of 104 with around 50% humidity. Figures. I have some things to go out and get done, then in for a nap. Still rearranging the inside of the house and doing the 'heavy cleaning'. Was up with that and some freelance work till around 1 and back up around 6:30. Meeting a client today to pick up a little more side work.
Have a good day, all and don't melt...

Whoever ordered the heat I'd like to return it... for us here in northeast Arkansas, the high is 103 with a humidity of 57%. My outside plans have changed to inside plans. I'll work some more on rearranging the house. Planned to change the oil in the truck but I'll just wait and take it someplace. need to do some freelance work, laundry, clean the bathroom and stuff anyway....or... it would be nice to hang out in that sweet garage.....

Agreed....
Not sure why I'm up early either. Planned to sleep in today. Meeting up with some Vette club members this evening for a 'dinner' cruise to the next town over to a local dive/tavern there - not the pretties pace, old wood tables with a juke box, names carved and written everywhere - great family atmosphere - but they're known for cold beer and steaks. There is supposed to be about 30 of us going.
Also need to rearrange the back bedroom. Gonna put my vette stuff in there with my TV from the bedroom, the Wii, my deerhead and Terry Redlin pictures. Also gonna take an old Vette tire and split it in half to make two wall shelves. I have an old Camaro Pace Car and old red Vette decanters I'll put one on each shelf. And a photo or two of the cantankerous teenager beotch and the one before her.
Maybe..
or I might just go back to bed...
reading what all Matt plans to do before the morning is even over made me tired...
