I dropped it into the car...LOL.

Thursday Curt and I worked on dropping the 405 and TH2004R into my '77 Vette. I did prep work Wednesday, and Friday was stuff like custom transmission mount and little details.

Didn't do much today...had a headache all day, but tomorrow I plan on finishing off my list of small details that need to be worked on before I can put all the brackets and accessories back on.

Here's some teaser pics. More will come hopefully tomorrow when more is done.

Looks great Matt! What is the 405 stamp on the trans? Did you do that or is it coincidence?

Good eye, and yes, total coincidence. I find it quite ironic yet very cool, which is why I made sure I got lots of pics of it just so people believe me.

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

Looks great! But will it run

Let me know how you like the 200 trans. We'd really like do swap that into my dad's. Do you have an electronically controlled O/D on it?

As Curt says, "It'll run like a raped ape." LOL.

I bought as B&M lockup controller for the transmission. It was tricky to install because it has to have a switched source from the brake pedal like the brake lights do. I ended up using a pigtail and switch from a cruise car because it has two different sets of terminals instead of one set like my brake light switch had. They are opposite of each other so it worked great for my lockup controller.

The other hurdle was the cross member. While the transmission is the same length and the stock drive shaft worked great the mounting location was almost 5" further back, directly on top of the cross member. I kind of fabricated a plate to go between the cross member and new rubber transmission mount.

I can adjust the angle of the drive line pretty easy using this plate so if I get any vibrations I can raise or lower it a bit.

I got a lot done, but not everything I was hoping to. Almost everything is done under the car which includes the lockup wiring and the starter harness.

I spent some time on the accessory brackets and accessories, and made sure the power steering plumbing was all done right. I moved the power steering fluid cooler and had to re-rout the lines and the new power steering pump has dual return line fittings so that made things a little easier with the Hydrobooster integration.

I went ahead and included a pic of the engine with the valve covers and carbs in place but they are not bolted down and are not quite ready to actually be installed yet.

Still more work to do, just wanted to give you guys a taste of what it'll look like very soon.

That is exactly what you get in the Bowtie Overdrives kit. Works great on my 700R4.

By the way, if you haven't already installed a new shifter cable, I would recommend it. Mine was original and apparently in worse shape than I thought. The firmer detent spring in the new tranny was enough to accelerate failure (cable sheath separated).

Looking forward to hearing about the first drive behind it!

Thanks Trae. I actually inspected my shifter cable while I was under it and remarkably it was in very good shape. The rubber boot was amazingly even still in very good shape.

I really can't wait to drive it and see how the TH2004R changes the highway RPMs and mileage.
