Anyone use the ATE PremiumOne Slotted Rotor from TireRack?

http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brakes ... 2&autoModClar=&perfCode=S

I need a new set of rotors and it looks like a decent price. I've heard good things about powerslots, but they are $240 a set for the front. At $48 a piece for the ATEs, that's cheaper than stockers from Rockauto (18A946/18A947 - $51.79).

They are probably just fine.
Interesting slot pattern. It is kind of "flowery"
Kind of reminds me of the Obama part in the Jib Jab video clip from this morning's funnies.

My first brake pad change on my C4 I had the rotors turned a bit and that worked fine for a good long while. Then around 135k miles on the odometer I did a complete brake upgrade to Grand Sport calipers and 13" rotors up front and new everything out back. My rotors came from an eBay vendor and have worked great for the 10k miles I put on them before taking the car off the road last year.

They've (stock c5s) already got some miles on them (probably 20,000-25,000) and the right side is warped. $12 a rotor to turn at Carquest, so I'd rather just buy new than pay $24. It's cheap insurance, imho.

Warping is rare and usually misdiagnosed.

If they're pulsating it could very well be some uneven pad deposits, turning them will fix that.

A cheap rotor on the other hand will temporarily warp when hot, because of core shift, and depending on where the casting parting lines are, as it can heat up unevenly.

I agree to a point.

I put the rotors on and there were no problems. But now they scrape when I spin the wheel by hand and when I'm driving and squeal horribly when I stop with some light pulsation. I haven't taken them off to check for square, but that's my next step before I actually order new ones. Just doing some preliminary scoping.

The squealing is from your pads. They could be glazed, or more likely you need to spray some of the blue permatex anti-squeal stuff on the back side of the shoes.

They're supposed to rub while turning by hand. The few feet of elevation of fluid between the caliper and master cylinder keeps some residual pressure on the pads. It's probably pad deposits, and if its uneven you'll hear it. When you assembled it before you probably retracted the pistons a bit so they didn't even contact the rotor.

I'm not trying to be a pain, but you may be looking at a $20 fix at most. That $100 could go towards mods, or a few steak dinners.

Ain't that the truth. You hear it a lot.

You can check rotors for 8 bucks. $7.99 for a cheapass HF dial indicator, a bolt, C-clamp and jackstand is all you need.
And you usually won't find that they're warped out of spec.

Not even at two for the price of one? Tire rack lists them at 350 each, I can do both for 350.

It is an outstanding price!

However, I can't justify that for my weekend toy..I don't race the car, and the stock c5 rotors have enough stopping power for me. If I had extra cash to spend or I were racing I'd be all over it. That is a seriously good offer Jeff.

Matthew, these are the rotors I installed on Arun's Z06 he picked them out, along with a set of Hawk Pads, he hasn't had as good of luck with this combo as with stock Z06 pads and the stock rotors. More then likely it's the pads though then anything.

I didn't look but do they make them for the stock C4 rear? so that you can have a matched set if you go with them?

These rotors do have a strange pattern, almost like an Atom symbol...

Nice price

I really need to upgrade brakes, as soon as I decide on calipers I'll keep this in mind.

ATE makes a good (and very popular) racing brake fluid. That doesn't mean that their rotors are automatically good, but at least I trust the brand. That's a start.

Powerslot, on the other hand, is a known good product. I've used them on the rear of my car for years.

I vote that you try the ATE parts so I know if they're a good brand to consider when I need a new set of rotors

As for the 2 piece offer, my front rotor discs (hats not included) are $350 each. $350 for 2 hats and rotors is retarded cheap.

Jeff, do you get other sizes? I use a 13.2"OD 32 mm thick 10 bolt disc...

Hi Jeff

I'm a new memebr and saw your post...
Are you a vendor for DBA? I need to replace the Erda Speed d/s front rotors on my 99. I was looking for slotted only and saw your post at $350 per pair???? CGREAT Price and would be interested in a pair and maybe some rears as well.

Thanks,

Jeff R.

I've been shopping for rotors and brakes also. Found reasonable price on Bendix Titanium and Bendix Rotors. I never read about anyone using Bendix brake products anymore. So I need some advice also! What is a good rotor and brake pad? EBS, Hawk, Bendix,....
This is on my to do list before spring. Was going to change them last fall but never found the time.
Thanks guys! Erin

I'm not sure where Bendix has their rotors manufactured but they've been around forever. GM rotors are also good for your application.

Avoid any aftermarket with holes. Slots are OK.

With out a doubt, Hawk HPS (High Performance Street) pads.
They're an improvement over stock, brake dust is about the same as stock, no squeal.
They will do OK for your track days because I don't think you'll use the brakes extremely hard the first few times.

Napa Premium rotors are used by many at the track, and they are relatively cheap. I use OEM rotors. A friend had 30k miles on his 03 ZO6, and he bought fancy rotors. He gave me his. Had them turned for 20 bucks total.
I would just turn the rotors and re-bed the pads.
