Wow Bill.

Beautiful cars!

The first Corvette I remember seeing was a midyear. One of my dad's best friends Cliff Norton had a really nice 66 roadster that he used as a drag car.

Turned me on to Corvette's for life. I have the 92 and the 76 and I really love both of them but something about a midyear Vette really turns me on. Problem is even if I cleaned out my savings and sold both 92 and 76, I still wouldn't have enough to buy a mid year....

Someday when I'm rich - I'll be able to get one.

Thanks Will. You'll get one someday.
I still need to find pics of my other 3 C2's.

I never should have sold the 76, it was mint, paid $4k for it with 33,000mi.

Thanks Kevin. The car was repainted Marina Blue but I'll go back to the origional - Lyndale Blue (Steel Blue) and it has a Teal interior which almost matches the Lyndale (fairly rare combo).

This pic doesn;t quite show how steel blue Lyndale is:

Nice TB! Got some flaired wheelwells I see. Here is the mother of all bad pics showing a flaired sidepiped 65 Coupe I once had. This is the only picture I have of it. Big flairs like the big bell bottom Levi's I used to wear.

Good catch, Tom.
I removed the metal hood inserts, glassed in a 427 scoupe and did the paint.

I still have the 63 hood inserts, worth a few $$$.

The 63, I bought it when I graduated HS, skipped a year between HS & college to work and buy a Corvette, what does that tell ya?

Drove the 63 my first 2 years in college then took it to Colorado for my 2ond 2 years of college.
Got race fever and sold it for $4,000 (paid $1,300).

Bought a '62 Chevy Suburban and a brand new Yamaha 250 motocross bike.

I miss the car but the races I did including Pike's Peak were worth it.

I still have that bike (in restoration, like everything else).

I figured it was, the wheels were exactly the same. Why did we sell them? Marcus is right, they weren't anything really that special back then. I paid $1700 bucks for the '64 back then, put that interior in ($325) it drove it for three years and sold it for $3200.

The biggest reason for selling was it wasn't practical. It was my DD. When I got married we bought a Dodge Colt for the wife to drive. I was working in the oil fields back then and the Corvette didn't really fit too well with the dirt and crap. But I still drove it. then when we found out about first kid coming along, it became more impractical. About two months after Heather was born I sold it and bought a pickup, which way more practical all around. I just could not afford to keep the Corvette at the time. Believe me there are LOTS of times that I wish I had not sold it. The interior and the flares were very stylish in the day. I've shown these pictures on other Corvette sites and caught hell for "ruining" that classic.

Marcus, it was the style back then to have the flared wheelwells. Mine were tastefully done (before I bought it). It allowed me to have G60 x 15 tires on the back and F60 x 15 in the front without rubbing. I lowered it sometime after those pictures were taken and it really looked mean.

A mid-year was always what I thought I wanted when I got back into Corvettes, but they are just out of reach for someone on a teachers salary.

It is easy to look back and shake your head knowing what I know now. I did not have that luxury back when we were building a business, needed a station wagon to haul the young kids around.......sometimes I think I should have tried harder to keep it but money was short.

We are where we are because of some sacrifices made. That 63 is one I would like to have back though.

@TB, that was the only way we could run some decent size rubber on the cars. As for the other sites giving you hell for messing up a classic......screw them, they weren't classics back then just cars that needed moded to perform better. Jerks! Geez......

Depends who you show that stuff to.

Some people who don't own a C5 or 6 are snotty too.

Even NCRS guys who get bashed here, half of them don't mind a modded C1/2. But to take a real matching numbers car and mod it is kinda nuts.
That's why mine is staying stock. If it had the wrong engine, etc. I'd do an LS3 and C6 interior.

Besides, who gives a fuck what they think?

That's pretty much my opinion, mine wasn't a great collectible car...NOM & flares. Changing the interior was no real decision. Like Marcus said, they weren't classics then, just a 7-10 year old used car. But like Bill says, it would be crazy to mod a numbers matching car...even I know that.

Marcus, you are right about being where we are today...sometimes sacrifices had to be made and like you, I just didn't have the money to keep it.
