What do you guys think about these? I think they are very cool. I don't know if I like the black or polished for the LT1. I guess I could get $50 or $75 for my stockers to help offset the cost of these. They are pretty pricey!

I like the black!

Will they clear your rockers and still clear the alternator bracket?

I'll have to do some measuring to be sure. I think I kind of like the black ones too!

Hummm, I have a set of the black ones but they don't seem to have those 2 holes.

Do you feel O.K. about only two bolts securing them?
Maybe a little too antique, I mean retro, looking?

Yeah... I can see your point, as I don't like mixing generations either, but they are very nicely done.

I wish there was a better alternative. I have looked into some fabricated covers, carbon fiber finish on the stock ones, GM licensed covers from Mid-America etc. but non of those really float my boat too much. I'd just like to do something different than factory and the LT1 is very limited to what covers will fit due to clearance issues.

Mike(Weave's Vette) has some real nice fabricated covers which I'm very partial to. Anyhow its good to see other people's opinions on the matter.

Someone posted a pic here a year or so ago.

I thought they looked good.

It's all an opinion anyway.

Don, I went thru this a few years ago. I never found a cover for my LT1 that I really liked. Then there was the fact that GM went to the composite covers to quiet engine noise (or so I was told). I ended up going with the SS overlays and then added the emblems. Still not 100% happy with them, but it will have to do.

I like the nostalgia look Don. But they will only be good IF they clear the rockers.

Like Bill said, I remember someone else posting these covers here on this forum that installed them on their Vette and I think they had roller rockers installed. But you are correct Tom, if they don't fit they don't fit.

I also did some searching and the stocker composite valve covers are worth a nice chunk of change. Apparently they are no longer available and some people are looking for them. I hope they don't mind the drip tabs removed.

They sell spacers if you need rocker clearance

I'd be worried more about alternator clearance.

they probably wont fit but if they do good luck with roller rockers. i did get a pair of scorpions on my lt4 heads and stock f body covers in my trans am... i had to grind a bunch off the alternator in my vette and its like still not how i would want it to be. i would have stayed with the stockers if i didn't send a pushrod through one of them. i have the top set that jeffk has pictured but they are black.

Did you have to shave the alternator with those? The mods to the alternator and a spacer is not really a big deal, but if they won't clear my rockers its pointless. It is a lot cheaper to stay with the stock covers.

I saw a C4 at one of our car shows with some nice chrome valve cover bolts for the stocker LT1 valve covers. They kind of set it off nicely too. I'm just not sure where to get those.

it escapes me what i actually had to do to the alternator but it wasn't terrible i just didn't like having to do it but i love those valve covers. i like my car looking stock as can be. i don't like things that give anything away.

The polished "Chevrolet" ones? They are a GM Performance Part. Should be found on Summit Racing...

I'm torn several ways. I like the black one's better between the 2. I can appreciate the tying them to past generations but would prefer that the script be more modern with the c4 Font. Sorry. I know that wasnt much help :-P

I just intend to polish my original fins and paint the body in a wrinkle finish so its more "European" since the designers were leaning that way when toward making the c4.
