Good morning gang.
Starting out cold again today with a temp of 1*. It should warm to about 20 as snow showers move in.

Let's get going.

Word of the day is ballast.

Today is NATIONAL RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS DAY

Celebrated on February 17th, National Random Acts of Kindness Day has grown in popularity each year. It is celebrated by individuals, groups and organizations, nationwide, to encourage acts of kindness.

It is a favorite day too many, as people everywhere are enjoying doing these acts of kindness. Not only is it special for the receiver, it also feels good as the doer! A quote from an unknown source said ”I was a recipient of the kindness but more glad to be a contributor!”

Our research found that the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation celebrates Random Acts of Kindness Week. The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation is an internationally recognized non-profit organization founded upon the powerful belief in kindness and dedicated to providing resources and tools that encourage acts of kindness. http://www.randomactsofkindness.org/rak-week

In New Zealand, where this day originated, Random Acts of Kindness Day is celebrated on September 1st. It is also recognized by some on other days throughout the year however, doing random acts of kindness is something that can be done everyday of the year.

A Few Quotes of Kindness:
◦Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the and the blind can see. ~Mark Twain
◦No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. ~Aesop
◦Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end. ~Scott Adams
◦Kind words and actions can seem so small, but their effects are truly endless ~ Author Unknown

NATIONAL RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS DAY HISTORY

Our research found that National Random Acts of Kindness Day, an “unofficial” national holiday, was founded by Josh de Jong of New Zealand.

NATIONAL CABBAGE DAY

National Cabbage Day is observed annually on February 17th.

According to wikipedia, Cabbage (Brassica oleracea or variants) is a leafy green or purple biennial plant, grown as an annual vegetable crop for its dense-leaved heads. Closely related to other cole crops, such as broccoli, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts, it descends from B. oleracea var. oleracea, a wild field cabbage. Cabbage heads generally range from 0.5 to 4 kilograms (1 to 9 lb), and can be green, purple and white. Smooth-leafed firm-headed green cabbages are the most common, with smooth-leafed red and crinkle-leafed savoy cabbages of both colors seen more rarely. It is a multi-layered vegetable. Under conditions of long sunlit days such as are found at high northern latitudes in summer, cabbages can grow much larger.

Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabbage

Cabbage is the main ingredient of coleslaw. It also has some medicinal purposes.

National Cabbage Day History

National Day Calendar is continuing it’s research to find the origin of National Cabbage Day.

Shouldn't National Cabbage Day fall on St Patrick's Day? That would seem to make more sense.

Good morning friends and even to those that aren't. Spent the day in the yard yesterday. Our home is the never ending project always awaiting the next phase of growth. I see more plants being planted in the near future and have eyed a great spot to build a nice workshop and shed. Yes, I have 3 storage buildings but this one would be more shop than shed and maybe even store one of the cars. I have a full day planned with house chores early and visitors later today. Steak and shrimp plus veggies and dessert on this evenings menu. Let's see how the day unfolds. A day without surprises is always welcome. May the good news be yours ......

Random acts of kindness count toward animals/critters too. Take home a stray or shelter animal. Spay or neuter your pets. Put out some bird seed in winter to feed the squirrels. heh heh

With a little work that would make a wicked LMP1 car.

Just 4 weeks until Sebring ! Lots of snow to get melted between now and then. I need to invest in a video camera and mount to record the Corvette parade laps.

CLEAR AND COLD, 19 DEGREES ON THE FRONT PORCH. THIS IS AN UNSATISFACTORY TEMPERATURE. STILL GOT WHITE STUFF LAYING ABOUT, BUT ROADS ARE CLEAR. THE CHEROKEES LONG FOR SPRING.

LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER STAY INSIDE AND WARM DAY.

Television, as Richard Nixon famously put it, is to news what the bumper sticker is to philosophy.

Morning guys...early morning meeting, then the kids were here early, then the computer didn't want to respond, so I pulled the plug on it. Took a while to boot back up and it still acts slow. Freaking computers. Oh, and as I got ready too leave the house, I went to rinse out my coffee cup, the freaking handle on the kitchen faucet came off in my hand. You all know what that means....Tom gets to do PLUMBING! SH!T, I HATE F*#KING PLUMBING...........

Maybe you can glue the handle back on or clamp on a new one with a radiator clamp.

They make all kinds. The one I have now is by Cooler Master there's holes for tubes but none is there. Big sucker tho. I hate it but I'm not a PC person to start with.
Speaking of cooler, we're still due for some single digit mess tomorrow night. Hope they're wrong. Made it to work today on the ice path - strange how goat farming places like here do nothing for our roads. And, the idiots that live here have no idea how to drive on them, either. Those with 4WD trucks have one speed - 80. The rest go 2. Others that try to be careful get ran over or stuck behind one that goes 2 and that one will no doubt stop in front of you as they try to go up a hill.

Well, I got home from school about 6 and started the faucet swap. Turn off the cold water valve, everything cool. Start to turn the hot water valve, she starts squirting water all over....sh!t, I hate plumbing..... luckily as I continue turning it off, it stops spurting. I'm able to get the old one out and the new one in without any trouble. Turn on the cold water, everything good. Start turning on the hot water, water starts spurting everywhere, keep turning the valve to the full on and it slows down to a trickle. Grab wrenches and tighten up the packing nut and I get it down to a stop......almost. it is barely dripping, so tomorrow I'll stop by the hardware store and get a couple sharkbite valves and replace both of them. Probably replace the supply lines as well.
