A friend of mine/customer has an Atomic Orange C6 six speed. He gets a new Corvette every couple of years, I think he leases them. He finally saw my car today and told me how much he liked the C4 he had but the C6 has just so much more power. Long story short I took him for a ride and I though he was going to cry. I just thought I would share.

p.s. he's ran off at the mouth more than once about how fast his C6 is. I think he is done telling me how fast it is now.

Always gonna be people like that in the world no matter what. I just avoid them if possible and try to stay happy with what I have.

Nice to school them a little, though

I sprayed it, I had to, his car is 436chp stock which is where I would guesstimate where my car is without the juice. My car feels alot quicker though even off the bottle.

That's great! Folks forget that these cars can be made to go very fast at a fraction of the cost of a C6 and to me, that is the best part.

There is a friend of mine that has a C5 Z06 that is like this individual. To him, nothing can outperform the Z since it has carbon fiber hood, titanium exhaust, blah, blah, blah. On some spirited runs, I sand bag him on purpose. Stay just enough ahead to be respectable, but not show my full hand of cards. I'm just waiting for some of his buddies to be around for that.

Hey, what kind of NO2 setup are you running?

I do not like the checkbook hotrods many of these guys build. It is just that, how much money can I spend to impress people.

If they did it themselves, I would have more respect...

Gale Banks called "ego-neering." I agree.

My neighbour is the same. He owns a completely stock 99 and always talks like its the king of the road. He says its has 405 horsepower! He never puts his money where his mouth is though.
His son has a Prelude and is the same way.

Everyone here at work's mouth is faster than their car also. I don't know why they only bug me about their insecurities.

A stock Mustang GT can run low 12s? A boxter convertible has 300hp? Oh really?

Hello Guys,

I come across a few of those guys that have a new C6 Corvette or one that has a Corvette thats better than everyone elses. But, I dont think its just about the car because they think THEY are better than everyone else too. I can detect the arrogant attitude as soon as they open thier mouth. I like to shy away from idiots like that. Some of those guys are scared to get their finger nails dirty. I like all eras of Corvettes. New or Old.

I enjoy the speed and performance of my C4's, but I also enjoy all the bells and whistles that come with it.
The Corvette is a luxury sports car. Almost like a fast Cadillac, but smaller and lighter. I have owned a few old muscle cars that were super fast, but as I am getting older, I enjoy the creature comforts like, power steering and brakes, air conditioning, power options and oh yeah, a stereo. I can sacrifice a little less horsepower and big car payments for comfort.Take care.

And the best part is, when he goes and drops a crapload of cash on that C6 to try and catch you, all you need to do to stay 1 step ahead is order up some 150 jets. Then some 175's. Then.....

I'm up to 175 jets on my stock L98 bottom end. I know someday I'll drain my oil out and find piston rings coming out the drain hole, but it sure feels great to run right with 2 of my friends that have 3 or 4 times as much money in their supercharged Cobras than I have in my 'vette. Funny how they talked smack on Chevy's till they got their asses handed to them. Nowadays, everyone seems to think that C4's and old Chevy 350's are slow. I LOVE MY RED-HEADED BASTARDCHILD OF THE CORVETTE FAMILY, ALL MY MODS, AND THE SQUEEZE!

Personally the longer I own my C4 the better I like it, there just aren't may around my area and the few I do see are usually pretty rough. I think it's neat having a 15 year old car that looks like it's new and runs alot better than it did when it was.

My wife and our went out to eat a while back and another customer was coming in as we were leaving. My 88 was sitting out front on the street and he was looking it over. He told me had a C6 and how he liked it, but added he thought mine was great looking for the age. He was very sincere and really admired it. His comment, "Hold on to that one!"

Hello All,

Most die hard Corvette people are pretty cool. Those are the ones that love all years of vettes and are respectful to other corvette owners. There are just a few bad apples that we run across from time to time. I never put anyones car down.I dont care which car manufacturer it is. Everyone has different likes of vehicles and I respect thier choice of vehicle. You have to give credit to someone that has restored or purchased a restored show or muscle car. About six months ago I had some dummy that races fords come in my store and talking crap about my Corvette and my AMX. Giving me a hard time, Telling me his lightning truck is faster than my cars. His buddy was polite and purchased products, but I almost threw him out.

Funny thing that he does not live far from me. I guess this economy put a hurting on him because I dont see that lightning truck in his driveway anymore. In fact I saw alot of things being carted away from his home. I was on the way to my store one day and saw him on the side of the road selling fruit, under a small tent. lol. Big shot, shooting his big mouth off. I revved up my engine on Frankie and waved to him. He looked pissed. What comes around goes around. Bye bye big mouth.
