Looks like it needs more than some Zaino.
It also looks like the cockpit is still all intact, hope the driver is OK. Did they really have to park it by the porta-poties? That is adding insult to injury. |

If the guy was running a stock master cylinder, shame on him.

Matt & Brian, IMO, the only thing to run is dual m/cs, Why so? If one fails, you still have brakes on one end. The added advantage is brake bias adjustment. The propotional addon valves work but, not that well and you are still depending on one m/c.
With duals, you can "bench setup" the system in the shop and dial it in on a test day. Both Tilton & Wildwood make fairly good equipment. |

Yea, Matt that's a good point. And this goes back to the other post on the GTR. My statement on the cage has nothing to do with lap times, it's all about safety. |

Come on Bill. There are people that don't know what a harmonic balancer is and you expect them to handle dual masters with a balance bar. |

Besides the fact that god obviously did not want to recall this gentleman yet, I think the real point is not just the single versus dual issue since in reality the Corvette is a dual, just inline. The point is he had not rebuilt the one he had and it failed from neglect. There was a moron on CF that was plugging Brembo to the point that he said Brembo's are so good they never need rebuilds! BTW, now you guys know why I have the big AP calipers. I routinely go at least 20-30 MPH faster than this gentleman was going, lap after lap (ask Brian). It basically is a street legal GT-1 car, lap time wise. Guess what? I will periodically rebuild the AP's too. I flush the brake and clutch fluids about 4x per year.

Luck results from good preperation. So do race victories and sometimes survival.
The lucky guys who don't prep are usually waiting on the tow truck in the middle of a race. They guys who prep for a race figure it's 6 to 1, 6 hours prep per hour of track time. Just the nut & bolt check before every race can take 45 min. to 2 hours. I also flush the brake system 3-4 times a season and calipers every race. |

Looks like he agrees with you guys
jan800vette; I will share Randy"s (DRM) thoughts on how it might have been prevented. The black residue in the bottom of the brake fluid reservoir is seal material from wear. Mine (stock master set up) had about the same look as a 50,000 mi car. Worn or old seals can lead to failure without warning. ...Regardless, my next car will have dual remotes. If your going to run a single master, take the time to replace the seals annually.
That's good to know, I've got 150k on my original master cylinder! A lot of good dual circuits & reservoirs do if they're connected when a seal fails! |

I have a master cylinder that is only one resovoir unfortanutly but it is not quite a year old....I am converting to Stainless Steel breakelines next week along with flushing the entire system again, and all new 4 pads and rotors(slotted only) to keep the brakes in good condition. Also replaced the brake booster about 1.5 years ago. I learned that Lock tite is a MUST. I always lock tite all the caliper bolts when they are removed and check them annually. 2 caliper bolts have wiggled free and my caliper fell off damaging my rims...

We use almost zero locktite on the racecars, prefer a torquewrench.
If you use blue locktite on a caliper and use the brakes hard, you're kind of defeating the prpose of the locktite since it breaks down at 300 degrees. |
