I noticed allot of these engines as my Dad always, and still has, many old hot rod magazines.
I even saw a 4 valve per cylinder engine Chevrolet built back in the early 20's, or somewhere back then.
But, I didnt use lifelines or google. Thats girly

A: Correct. Not a Ford 289 (distributor is in back), not a Pontiac (spark plugs are below ex ports), not a Mopar 360 (spark plug location). 73% (97373 out of 133728) of the other players got that question right. You got 17 right out of 17.

Nailhead's are Buick engines called nailheads because the valves sat almost vertical and looked like nails sticking out of the head.

The one posted was the GM.

The other engine one is a little tougher too.

You got 17 right out of 19.

I did the GM-only one..... got 36/56 (64%), I even missed two on the vettes.... got the 60/61 reversed.

I felt like I did good just to get that score.... but maybe not. I didn't know the subtle differences between a lot of those models, so I did what any red-blooded American Man would do when put before a test he didn't study for and nobody was available to cheat on.... I guessed.

I'm not even going to do the non-gm models, I've developed a headache from thinking. I need a cocktail.

The narrow vertical valve covers allowed the engine to fit in the bay, so long occupied by a straight 8. The "nailhead" moniker came about because of the small valve head diameter in relation to the stem, nail-like.

93% on the GM test, 94% on the non GM. That was a fun memory jog on the styling nuances of the era. I could tell a bel air from a biscayne a block away.

13 of 17. A few guesses by process of elimination, but most of those engines were recycled into red dirt or tuna cans before I was conceived.
