Referring back to last Friday's opener:

http://www.corvette-guru.com/modules/ ... hp?topic_id=11371&forum=6

Well, the project went off very well. We didn't give him a break, other than to take a dump or shower. As it turns out
the goob did very well. We're able to check grades online and he got an A+ (50 points out of 50!)

The robo-kid beat him up pretty well during the sleep hours, but he rose to the challenge and only whined a little. Once we asserted that this is HIS kid and WE AIN'T HELPIN", he started to catch on. So here's to my boy!

Having had a bit of weld-up work done, I'm not sure it'll come out like you want. That's a nicely polished piece and it'll turn color where the heat gets used. The slots wont just fill in nicely, but rather a skilled welder will need to spend some time to get it filled in right so it can then be worked back down for polish. That being done, it'll need to be milled across the bottom to remove any warpage that occurs during welding. Drilling the new hole pattern comes next. Last but not least, it can then be polished back to perfection.
Unfortunately, that's what happens to castings when you weld on the machined mating surfaces.

I agree with what most of you are saying, especially about 2 days doesn't teach 'em much. We just have to use the opportunities as they come. This wasn't our idea, he just came home one day and announced his intentions. He later admitted he did it so he could show us he's responsible.

Me and mom ain't buyin' it.

I don't mean to steal anyone's thunder by starting this thread up, but I've got a different w'kend coming up.
Today at school, my son will become a "father", to bouncing baby simulator. It's one of those that needs to be fed, changed, puked, etc...
My wife and I agreed that we're gonna make this as inconvenient as possible for him to make sure he remembers what it's like when he meets a some slut. If we can make him remember the work, inconvenience, and loss of fun this is, maybe he'll keep it in his pants. Well that's what I have goin' on, how 'bout you guys?

One night Sean walked into the pub and noticed a new lass sitting alone with a pint. "Why're ya drinkin' alone, miss?"
It's my birthday and no one wanted to come out on a wednesday to drink wi' me." Hearing this, Sean offered her another pint and a shot to cheer her up. She accepted and drank 'em both quick. Patrick also bought her a shot, and soon all the men had bought her a shot, and she guzzled each down before the next was served. Moments later she passes out and her head hits the bar. Sean and patrick look at the other fellows and soon they're givin' her a go, one after another. Afterwards they dress her back up and sit her back at the bar. Later the gal wakes up, rubs her crotch, and staggers into the night.
A week later Sean wanders into the pub, and there she sits again. Sean walks up as the barkeep sets down a pint and asks her if she'd like to have another shot or two. Then she said, "No thanks! Those shots make my pussy hurt!"

I've been there as well. Since Christmas of '07, I've lost a number of friends and aquaintances. For the first year or so I kept track of each of them as they were going at a pace of about 1 every 6 weeks. I finally had to ignore the tally and start to get on with the living. This kind of loss is, sadly, a natural part of life. Those we know and know as celebrities are just as tied to reality as anyone else. Hope you feel better. Hey! We still have Danny Bonaduce to make fun of!

I have a supervisor at work that is the biggest asshat I known in 25 years. That was the last time I had a jergoff
boss. As a machinist in a production oriented shop, it's not unusual for mistakes to occur. Anytime someone, anyone does, he crawls up their ass making things worse. People
have repeatedly gone upstairs to mgmt to complain and he's even been given 3 days off before, but he's still doing it.
On nights when he leaves early, the entire shop seems to relax. Even the people that work for other supervisors. He will stop at nothing to win a conversation and repeatedly has written people up based on partial truths. When he wants something you'll know it because he walks up either smiling or saying please. When he gets it, you can actually watch his facial expression and his entire demeanor towards you change. I could go on, but I have to give up the computer.

Let me know I'm not alone, if you guys have jagoffs like this at work, write it down.

I've owned two Accel and one TPIS bases, from what I can see, your intake looks quite normal. Edelbrock's deburring processes are also just as lacking as I've seen on the others. It's not uncommon for your intake to look as it does. But I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking they should be
done with a bit more care considering what these things cost. I'm not sure what kind of runners you're gonna use, but if they're SLP, Edelbrock, or other CAST runners, I'd look into Extrude-honing for them. Mostly because I'm impatient as he!!. Also because of the finished product.
I'm pretty sure others will disagree with me, and that's OK, but that's what I'd do.

Probably the lack of humidity here.

I got the following in an email.......

454 cubic inch big block Chevrolet V8 produces 412 horsepower

If you're tired of anemic, one-lung snowblowers with their slipping drive belts, you might consider Kai Grundt's V8 snow blower which raises the bar on the traditional snow blower in every respect. With electric start, electric block heater, antifreeze heater and eight
cylinders, it has no drive belts to freeze up and you'll never get bored with the job as the 454 cubic inch big block Chevrolet V8 produces 412 horsepower, 430 foot pounds of torque and can throw snow 50 feet at just 3500 rpm.

Nor will you get cold as the machine has been ingeniously designed to route the engine coolant through the handle bars, with the rear mounted, enclosed radiator keeping the operator nice and cozy.

Maneuvering the massive beast (it has a total wet weight of 912 lbs) is a breeze thanks to the hydraulic-drive 4WD skid steer on independent walking beams which offers a zero turning radius. It's also as fast as you like, with an infinitely adjustable speed range on the drive wheels via dash mounted flow control. At the opposite end of the scale, it has more than enough torque to pull your car out of the ditch before the hydraulic motors stall!

Adding to the well-balanced feel of the unit, just 15 pounds of down force on the handlebars will lift the auger blade off the ground in order to climb stairs/walkways for ease of snow removal. Safety has and continues to be paramount with spring return to centre "fail safe" type directional controls with emergency stop and tether cords.

Safety is one of the key theme, with a flashing blue light (as required by law in many areas) being the least of the safety features. No-one will fail to hear you with those twin throaty exhausts, which come standard with 92 decibels at the controls, though if the rumble of a V8 exhaust is music to your ears, you can obviously go much louder. Even at the standard baffling, hearing protection is strongly suggested.

The powerful yard machine lights and a dashboard with backlit gauges complete the package to ease the burden of this normally reviled task. The custom 42 inch, two stage auger has a Chevrolet 10 bolt truck differential with spool and a centrifugal auger clutch with shear pin protection, further adding to the image of this "automotive theme blower." As each unit is cutom-built, optional extras for the snow blower are both diverse and outrageous as the base unit - there is unlimited auger choices from single to multi stage designs and various motor combinations to suit the religious preferences of the customer (Chevy, Dodge Hemi, Ford) and such exotica as a V-10 or a diesel engine or remote starting can be accommodated. And if, after a while, you feel you've outgrown the 400 horses, this particular engine is well catered for in the performance modification area, with Lunati camshaft, Milodon Gear drive, Holley and Edelbrock components to name a few, and there's always the fuel injection option too, if you feel you need to throw the snow out of the county or ensure your seat in the "neighborhood blower blingster hall of fame."

What I opened with on this thread is, most often, terrorist email baloney. Why did I post it? This is an open forum, so why not place it under the scrutiny of some people I have some respect for?

It's my belief that somewhere in the middle lies the truth. The problem is sifting thru all the not-so-hidden agenda crap to find that truth. One of you stated, "Both sides needs to put their special interest groups aside and start running this Country from the MIDDLE." If both sides of the aisle would lighten up and realise their quest for political power is doing more damage than good, maybe there would be some positive changes going on.
How come normal people that are interested in seeing the country run right can't get to DC? (Another rhetorical question)

I invite you to Copy/Paste and email to others

Your Social Security

Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn't know this. It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what's what and it doesn't matter whether you are a Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts!!!

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social
Security (FICA) Program. He promised:
1.) That participation in the Program would be
Completely voluntary,
No longer Voluntary

2.) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual
Incomes into the Program,
Now 7.65% on the first $90,000

3.) That the money the participants elected to put
into the Program would be deductible from
their income for tax purposes each year,
No longer tax deductible

4.) That the money the participants put into the
independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the
general operating fund, and therefore, would
only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other
Government program.

Under Johnson, the money was moved to
The General Fund and Spent

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees
would never be taxed as income.
Under Clinton & Gore
Up to 85% of your Social Security can be Taxed
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are
now receiving a Social Security check every month --
and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of
the money we paid to the Federal government to 'put
away' -- you may be interested in the following:

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- ----

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the
independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the
general fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically
controlled House and Senate.

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax
deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -----

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social
Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the
'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the
Senate, while he was Vice President of the US

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -

Q: Which Political Party decided to start
giving annuity payments to immigrants?
AND MY FAVORITE:

A: That's right!
Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.
Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65,
began to receive Social Security payments! The
Democratic Party gave these payments to them,
even though they never paid a dime into it!

------------ -- ------------ --------- ----- ------------ --------- ---------

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of
awareness will be planted and maybe changes will
evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully
sure of what isn't so.
But it's worth a try. How many people can YOU send this to?
Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.

AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.

-Thomas Jefferson

If I had to wear one of those jackets I'd pull it off in a hurry

Not me! I figure I'll be shot in the back by a jealous husband on my 110th birthday!

I enjoy the site a lot, just like it is. While keeping things current is a good idea, changing things around tends to baffle a compu-dope like me.
I'm glad we're able to have hot-chick fridays without nudity. I'm also really happy I can come to this site and not have to worry about a bunch of smart a$$e$ hijacking a thread or screwing it up to the point it must be locked.
By the way, I'm beginning to think I've missed out on a right of passage by not getting kicked off of CF.

A guy is sitting in the bar when they make last call.
He goes to get up to leave and falls flat on his face. Twice.
He figures he'll crawl outside and let the fresh air sober him up before he goes home.
Later a cop comes up and sez,"you gotta go or it's public intox..."
Getting up, he once again falls on his face, and quickly decides he'll crawl the one block home.
At his front door, he pulls himself up, unlocks the door and, of course falls in. Giving up, he crawls to the couch and goes to sleep.
The next day he awakens to his bitching bride as she sez,' Hey stupid!! The bar just called and you forgot your wheelchair again!!

A bear and a rabbit are taking a dump in the woods.

Bear sez,"Hey rabbit, you ever have a problem with $hit sticking to your fur?"

Rabbit sez,"Nope."

So the bear wipes his a$$ with the rabbit.

I've recently discovered one of these anger management type things. In no way do I want the gov't to take over health care, but I'm sick of paying well in excess of $100/week in health care costs. So I call the "1-800" number on my card and give them an earful of what I think. I don't get verbally abusive, but I lay out an irrefutable argument and hammer the poor bastitch over and over. Why, because as long as I don't use profanity or name calling, they're NOT ALLOWED TO HANG UP!
It's very liberating.............

After reading what everyone else has said, I'm right with them. I hope your Dad has a quick recovery and lives to tell about it for many years to come.

I'm pretty sure it's simply a flow restrictor valve.

I agree with both of you guys. Something's not being said or properly presented.

I'd imagine that EACH clean tile would add about $3 to your engine build.

It happens to all of us...

You're driving along just minding your own business,
when all of a sudden - without any warning,

This Dick In A Truck pulls out right in front of you......
