I got a Dewitts for my 89 about 8 months ago and although it does run a few degrees cooler ( about 188 degrees) the main difference I see it how much longer it takes to get to a higher temperture and also Im amazed at how fast the temperture comes down once I start moving again..Im sure this is due to the higher capacity and extra row of cooling tubes this radiator has.. In my opinion it was well worth the money spend..WW

I think I have figured out what blockman is doing. He is targeting all the other engine builders on the various sites, getting them into arguments to the point that they lose control and blast him, and then get banned. This leaves the sites open for him to come in and rule with his BS and get customers that the other builders now can't get..My God, its a plan to dominate the car sites and were falling right into his hands... I have always just pulled the brake booster tube and used a small funnel to pour Seafoam into that. I would pour it in slowly until the last ounce or so then put that in quickly until it stalls the motor, let it sit for 10 minites ,then restart and see smoke pour out the tail pipes..Seafoam put on a demonstration at one of the Bass Tournaments I was in and this is how they said to do it..WW

I just purchased a ported plenum from Mike at Corvetteplenums. I purchased this plenum for when I put the ZZ4 into my 89 Corvette, but would like to know about how much HP gain would I get if I put it on my stock L98 with a set of aftermarket runners and intake manifold. I have been looking at the Big Mouth intake and there runners and that is probable what I will use.I won't be putting the ZZ4 in until next spring and if it makes a difference in HP on my stock motor maybe I could put it on that motor until I make the swap. Thanks ..WW

Awesome. Glad you found it. Was the miss very noticeable when you were driving? I've got a slight surge at cruise and I've been putting off tracking it down, might be related to the coil like yours.

Matthew

It was very noticable, it was like a jerking motion as soon as I settled at a moderate speed,I wouldn't call what I had (surging)..There are a lot of things that can cause a car to do this,I was actually checking my distributor cap when I happened to notice the burnt wires,,Purely Luck,,.. Surging can be caused by a EGR valve stuck partially open, IAC sticking or dirty, a vacuam leak is one of the first places to look for surging but it usually does it at idle also.I believe surging is usually a air related problem, but not always..Good luck finding your problem....WW

I always like to get back and let people know what my outcome was, so maybe it will help the next person with a similar problem..I found out my miss was a short in my coil, the red and white wires touched and burned shorting out and causing a rough idle and a miss at idle and midrange speed....WW

Im really not throwing parts at it. The egr I replaced had a hole in the diaphram , was leaking air, and not working. The O2 sensor was giving me a high Block Learn reading(148) and a high Integrater reading (132) indicating a possible bad O2 sensor, when I changed the O2 sensor it fixed my Lean fuel problem and brought both readings down near (128) where they belong,as far as changing the plug wires,I already have them so I might as well use them, but I still have the miss when cruising..Thanks..WW

I have a engine miss when Im just cruising, not when Im accelerating. If I accelerate it runs smoothly, its only when Im either just running along at one speed or letting off the gas slowly..I just replaced the egr and the O2 sensor, checked the fuel pressure and checked for vacuam leaks and it still does it..The plugs and wires are only a year old but tomorrow Im changing them hoping that fixes the problem. With it only doing it while going at a steady speed can you think of any other things it might be? Anything you can suggest as being the cause will be appreciated....WW

One of the guys in our club is getting a ZZ4 Longblock for his 89 vette. Last night he ask me what intake or intake and runner combination would allow him the most HP with this motor. This motor with a carb puts out 355 HP and he would like to keep it as close to that as he can staying with fuel injection. I suggested a FIRST intake, is this correct or is there better.?...WW

When I bought my Corvette 2 years ago the guy included what he told me where ZR1 rims. 2 are (9 1/2") and 2 are (11"), they are silver with a machined lip. They are in fair shape with just a little curb rash on 2 of them. The clearcoat is just starting to peel on 2 of them and flake on the edges of 2 of them. They still look fairly good as you can see in the pictures. My question is are they really ZR1 rims and if so are they worth anything?.One has a sticker on it that you can see. There are no dings or dents anywhere on them. These pictures are before they were washed..Thanks WW

I just purchased a used set of Proform valve covers that say they are 1/4 inch taller than stock. Will I have any problems with them fitting my stock 89 L98? I still have my EGR hooked up, will it hit the pipe? I did read of guys with earlier C4s having problems with them hitting the wiper motor.I know, after buying them is a hell of a time to ask.. I can vouch for the Cooper Zeons. I have a full set on my 89 that have been on for 1 1/2 years and they handle and last great, real good on wet roads. OE wheels puts Nexen tires on there tire/wheel combos, I don't know much about them but they are Dunlop owned, here is the add for the tires at OE Wheels..

275/40/zr17 Nexen 3000. UTOG rating Treadwear 360 one of the highest rating / Traction AA highest rating / Temperature A highest rating / Speed rating 186 mph highest rating. Nexen is comparable to a Michelin Pilot or Bridgestone Potenza S-03. The Nexen 3000 has one of the best rating on the market today and is part of the Dunlop Tire Corporation. The Nexen 3000 has innovated tread design to improve handing in wet or dry conditions. L.L. Carbon to improve treadwear while enhancing wet performance. Silica allows performance even in cold weather. Nylon spiral wrap allows the tire to keep its original shape at extreme high speeds.
