My wife asked me tonight "What are we doing for Memorial Day? ....No suggestions from her.... Just put it on me ... I don't like crowds so a drive to the Keys is out and she banished the thought every other time I made that suggestion in the past on any weekend. The 928 is in the shop. There's gonna be a nice bill on that when I get around to it. We're meeting with the mechanic in the PM tomorrow to discuss his findings. So far we know that both fuel pumps are toast. Anyway .... That just means there is not alot of expebable cash lying around to just go blow a bunch of money on Memorial Day for the sake of having fun. I'd like to go to the casino. that would not be prudent for reasons stated above. It's hot as hell outside during the peak of day, so something inside ...... Maybe a movie at the movie theatre. Could go out to eat somewhere local. Nothing fancy, just some good cooking. This is all coming about because once again I'm proving myself to be

The Most Boring Man In The World

I won't lie ... I'm not Mr Excitement nor am I Mr Romance.
I like taking leisurely strolls down deserted sections of beach. Going to restaurants that don't have a line. I think I'm changing into .....

Oh No! Not That ........

As a member of the local VFW Honor Guard, I will spend Friday and Saturday posting flags and crosses on the fallen GI's graves. Sunday and Monday participating in Memorial services for those we remember.

Lest we forget

Memorial day weekend. Four straight nights of racing. All of which better include some sort of military tribute.

Friday, Hoosier 100 at the Indiana Fairgrounds.

Saturday $500 to win sprint car race for children charity race at Mercer, PA.

Sunday Sprints and Dirt Modifieds at Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, PA.

And finally on Monday USAC sprints at Lernerville Speedway.

Taking Tuesday off to recuperate.

Wonder if I will get to see any of Indy or Charlotte ? Before you suggest it, no DVR.

If Tommy is boring then I am boring Jr. I usually am so tired by this time I just want to putt around the place getting caught up on stuff. My son plays legion ball so there will be a ball game or two. Some nice drives in the 90 would be in order along with a large steak.

I will thank all the men and women who have served and are currently surving our great Country for preserving the freedoms that I hold so dear. Thank You for all you do!

Amen!

We'll be visiting the cemeteries where our folks are either Friday or Saturday, and then the rest of the weekend will be consumed by action-packed activities such as scraping, sanding and painting the deck. Unless it rains, in which case we may attempt to put a dent in the pile of stuff stacking up in the DVR.

I hope to be working on the car and figuring out the issues so I can drive it on Sunday. Sunday there is a big shrimp feast nearby where its all you can eat shrimp and BBQ stuffs for $25 Beer & Wine $1. Both my Corvette Club and the Free State Corvette Club have been attending together starting last year. It was a lof of fun having about 75 Corvettes lined up on the road next to the Community Center.

Additionally - I will also be thinking of the fallen, and the brave that have fought, and still are fighting for our freedoms. AFOSI just buried another fallen agent recently and the mood gets pretty somber around HQ when we lose a member of the OSI family. I have lots of military friends and family to thank for their service to this country.

Ha, there's as many dirt tracks in western Pa. as there are in south central Pa.

But, I've only been to all the ones on south central, Williams Grove, Lincoln, Trailways, Hagerstown.
Even raced on some of them but it was on 2 wheels.

Sounds like my kind of weekend.

My excitement starts today with a 300 mi. round trip in the vette to Peoria for a ZZ TOP/ LYNYRD SKYNRD concert. Haven't been to a show in ages, never seen either group, and Billy Gibbons is my age, so may not be touring a whole lot longer.

Should be fun, you'll have to give us a full report! I wonder who Skynyrd got to replace Billy Powell - he was one of a kind.

Just work. Work on the house, work on the yard, work on the car, work on the other car, I even have to do some work on the truck. Sooo close to finishing the indoor work but all the little stuff takes twice as long as the big jobs. No time to relax as the next three weekends are already booked solid and I will be out of town. But then again, working on too many projects is how I relax so I'm counting on Tommy to do the other type of relaxing for me.

Monday headed out to pop's farm to cut calves. If you don't know what that means then you're better off.

The pendulum will swing back as there are more guys that served overseas in the Middle East. It's sad to a point, yes, but the whole society has changed, not just Memorial Day. You could say that about any "traditional" value. When's the last time a family had a "Sunday Dinner" with the family and mom baking in the kitchen all day??? A sign of the times.

I beg to differ. Our little town of Westmont has a parade followed by a memorial service that is well attended by all age groups. Fortunately, veterans aren't the only ones that are patriotic.

I was really bummed when so few showed to these services yesterday.

Then I find out today that the local newspaper had the days backasswards. So many showed today for yesterdays services!

Last year we had a Welcome Home VietNam Vets Parade.
The turnout for our little burg was thousands.

Glad to see some towns still have the Spirit.

I'm a vet and I spent my memorial day doing things that I enjoy, washing cars, tinkering with the Vette a little and cooking up some Burgers and dogs on the grill.

I spent lots of time thinking about my grandfathers who both served and of the guys that I was stationed with.
