Phone rang at 3 am and that is never a good call....the County Sheriff dispatch was calling me to say there was an officer at my door.....that will wake you up quick.

Turns out some drunk idiot stole my 05 Duramax and took it down the road and totalled it....then the bleeding bastard walked a mile back to our place and stole Little Red and took it into town to a friends house who hauled his ass to the hospital which notified the police and they started to check it all out.

My idea has always been to just leave the keys in them so that if some jerk wants it he can have it without trying to get into the house. Now I am not so sure that is all that smart......we have been here 22 years and this is the first time we have had any problem. We got little Red back it's fine some blood in it but not bad...no damage....my truck on the other hand is gone.

My newer Duramax is at the wedding site with the trailer and we were going to use this one to take the cakes and other stuff down today......looks like plan B there....

Here is some pics of the pickup.....

Such a shame. It's obvious the young man that did this is going through a rough patch. With a little love, understanding and guidance from above there is a good chance he can be made a productive member of society. Though it might have been more satisfying if they had to have the county coroner arrive on site. Trucks can be replaced. it's just another thing to piss you off and add stress into your life. See ..... Bad stuff can happen in little places too.

Good Morning CGs!

Wow, Marcus, that really sucks! He sure did a number on that truck, huh? I sometimes leave the keys in the vette while it's parked in the locked garage, but I know that's not a good idea. I can't believe the guy came back for seconds! Are they charging him with motor vehicle theft, dui, etc?

Well, if you can believe it, today is #2's first birthday. I can't believe how fast it's gone! Nothing big planned for today, but we're having a decent sized family party on Saturday afternoon that should be a lot of fun.

Other than that, the vette is running great. Although every time I say that, something seems to go wrong. So I hope I didn't jinx myself....lol.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Dare I say, Good morning?.....Marcus, that sucks the big one. We usually do the same thing. The bastard needs to be hung. Big Thursday here, Senior night for Volleyball along with MS F-ball and V-ball, so they will be wound up today.

Matt, the years fly by, enjoy them as you can.

Got to go, I'll check back later.

I drove the Vette today, even though it is annoying, but I figured its days are numbered before storage, so what the hell. Still need to find time to wash it and change the oil - days are flying by too quickly. It's gonna be 80 and sunny the next couple days - I can't imagine we have too many of those left.

Enjoy your day, everybody!

Well that is some clear thinking, ain't it? Mojo for smooth sailing for the rest of the week!

Meanwhile....

All arrivals in heaven have to go through a bureaucratic examination
to determine whether admission will be granted.

One room has a clerk who inputs computerized records of what each
applicant did on his or her last day of life.

The first applicant of the day explains that his last day was not a
good one.

"I came home early and found my wife lying naked in bed.

She claimed she had just gotten out of the shower. Well, her hair was
dry and I checked the shower and it was completely dry too. I knew she
was into some hanky-panky and I began to look for her lover. I went
onto the balcony of our 9th floor apartment and found the SOB clinging
to the rail by his fingertips. I was so angry that I began bashing his
fingers with a flower pot. He let go and fell, but his fall was broken
by some awnings and bushes. On seeing he was still alive, I found
super human strength to drag our antique cedar chest to the balcony
and throw it over. It hit the man and killed him. At this point, the
stress got to me and I suffered a massive heart attack and died. "

The clerk thanked him for his honesty and sent him on to the next
office.

The second applicant said that his last day was his worst.

"I was on the roof of an apartment building working on the AC
equipment. I stumbled over my tools and toppled off the building. I
managed to grab onto the balcony rail of a 9th floor apartment but
some idiot came rushing out on the balcony and bashed my hands with a
flower pot. I fell but hit some awnings and bushes and survived, but
as I looked up I saw a huge chest falling toward me. I tried to crawl
out of the way but failed and was hit and killed by the chest."

The clerk couldn't help but chuckle as he directs the man to the
next room. He is still giggling when his third customer of the day
enters.

The clerk apologizes and says "I doubt that your last day was as
interesting as the fellow in here just before you."

"I don't know" replies the man, "picture this, I'm buck naked,
hiding in this cedar chest....."

Marcus, all of my good thoughts go out to you for the rest of the week...and weekend. Bill, that's actually a pretty picture, just a bit early for me to really like it though.

Windy as all get out today, guys....50mph gusts 20-30 constant and much cooler, that storm that Bill experienced is almost here. We are to get the moisture, just not low enough temps to get that pretty white stuff Bill got. We will take the moisture in any form we can get it. This looks like the best chance we've had in nearly 8 months. I saw on the news the other night we are 14" below normal for the year.....when our average is only 18", that really shows how dry we are.

Got to get a couple things done, I'll check in later.

Yea, too early and it will be in the high 70's by Sunday.

I have to go over Donner Summit tomorrow at 6:30 a.m., wizzes me off that I'll have to take the Silverado to a Corvette meet.

At lease it will be nice on Saturday and I'll take the C4 to the racetrack.

Dang Bill, you gotta' huge deck!

@Macus - Very glad nobody but the perp got hurt, and it sounds like he'll recover too. Sorry about the loss of your truck, but I guess that's why we have insurance.

@Matt - Happy b-day to RR#1!

Checking in late today. Been CRAZY the last couple of days at work. Would have liked to make the midwest Guru's dinner/meet last night, but just as I expected, things blew up at work and I was stuck late.

Bring on Friday!!

Have a good afternoon Gurus.

I feel better now and have the C4 packed up to go over the mountain.
For once, I do like the live cameras on the road. I can pull up I80 and see that the road's almost dry already.

Good evening guys!!! Holy Carp Marcus! That is a damn shame about your truck! What a turd that guy is. Karma will get him sooner or later. I hope they can fix it good for you. Is little red another truck or don't say... the Vette?

The rest of you guys.... it was great just to read your posts tonight. I have been so swamped and stressed with this new job that I haven't had a minute to really sit down a surf through our posts. I hope I get into the groove and get some things accomplished soon, so I feel like I'm fitting in ok. A few more weeks and I should be getting a little more comfortable. I did drive the Vette both Wednesday and today and will drive it again tomorrow. Driving the Vette takes some of the stress out of the morning and evening commute. I have had so many people give me a thumbs up or simply stop and yell out to me "nice ride". Tonight I drove a few miles next to a red 96 Vette with a Yorkie Terrier in the passenger seat! The driver wouldn't even look at me. Then I pulled up to a traffic light next to a Chevy HHR SS, and the guy cracked me up because he jumped the light and spun his wheels catching second and third gears. It was hilarious because it was obviously trying to impress me with his SS, but the funny thing was that it hardly went anywhere in those three gears. I would have liked to really show him some stuff but I was very well behaved and just rolled up past him like nothing every happened. I was laughing still though!!

Hopefully I will be able to post some more this weekend!!

Usually around here it's the Mustangs that try to "impress" the Vette drivers.
My Vette radio quit yesterday morning, checked fuses tonight and it's not that. Is there an inline fuse or something? It's a Kenwood system someone installed.
Got a small advance on a project I'm in the middle of and had my heart set on some LED taillights but a friend stopped by the office and showed me his new XD Sub Compact pistol. I've been wanting rid of my small Glock 9mm for a long time and instead of new taillights, now I'm the proud owner of an XDm 40 cal.
And... no rounds for it

Yea, all the aftermarket stuff (even alarms, etc.) have inline fuses.
Hopefully that's all it is.
