Happy New Year!

I was thinking about projects for the Vette that I need/want to get done, and here are some that come to mind. I just completed the dreaded heater core replacement, so I'm thinking I should strike while the iron is hot and get these knocked out!

1. Replace Weatherstripping
2. Lower it!
3. Repair passenger side door panel. (pops off frame from time to time)
4. Detail engine bay (Heard simple green works wonders)
5. Add side vent inserts
6. Repair sticking door locks
7. Polish wheels, detail suspension parts. (Could be done when lowering, I suppose!)

I'm sure there is more, but that's a good start I suppose.
Oh yeah, one more.....DRIVE IT!!

I've got a box of weatherstripping to install, too. I've been starting to make my list of projects for when I get the car out of storage in early March.

The rest of my list basically overlaps with tearing it down for a repaint.

So the list is getting pretty damn long.

I guess I could do tint. The shops are kinda bitchy though about doing tint below legal limits. So I was thinking I could remove the windows and take em in. I have to remove one anyways to repair a cracked door.

I was thinking about removing the rear hatch and take it in for tint too. They always make a big about how hard it is to do, figure if they can lay it down, it should be easier.

BTW, i have a long list for each vette and I should be completed around 2025. Of course, 2012 is coming soon so I may not have to worry.

I took the screws out and spotted the panel with a black magic marker, and the screw heads too'.

That was a year and a half ago, and it still closes with a totally solid sound. Wish I'd thought about it with my '87; mighta' gotten me 500 - 750 more at sale...

I've done a lot this year

Headlight motors
Door window motors
Still need to do the seals on the engine, but that leads to the next item
383 long block for the heads and blower I bought, not to mention the headers and cat back.
I'll also be rebuilding the suspension with the rod ends I've bought, and the rod end control arms I'm going to buy.
I'll also be replacing the shocks and springs with coilovers.

So, just a few items!

I put in new hatch struts and rear plastic trim recently, that was a long time coming.

I need to post that up.

I still have to finish (at least the parts I have sitting there):
1) stereo install (half done)
2) outer door seals
3) 3.07 rear end swap
4) 02 sensor and drop/weld exhaust hole
5) port intake mani/plenum
6) install big tube runners
7) does it ever end?

Well,
I've got the passenger side door panel repaired, as well as the sticking door locks for both sides!
Think I'm going to get the side vent inserts done tonight!
Thought of something else too....Paint brake calipers!

Here's some of the stuff I did last year..
Replace radiator
Replace water pump
Replace Opti
New Plugs, belt, hoses
New Wheels/Tires
New B&B 3" SS Exhaust
Replace headlamp motor...
New slotted/ported rotors
Seems like there was something else, but memory escapes me!

Last year I finished the bulk of my projects on mine (new interior, window regulators, weather stripping, etc.). So far this year, I upgraded the prop arm for the hood to the newer style, tune up, replaced valve covers and detailed the engine some. Now, I have to pull the codes off the computer to find out why I have the Service Engine Light coming on. Once that is sorted out, it will be ready for my wife to race it and hopefully get sold this year. This is of course for my 86 Corvette. My 08, I need to take in to have the windshield replaced, as I got hit by a rock on I-95 a couple days ago. It is a small 6" crack on the driver's side. Second windshield I have cracked from a rock in 6 months...never had to have a windshield replaced before! Have a new intake coming in for the 08 Vette as well. Then, there is my 86 Monte Carlo SS...I have a huge list for that, still...but won't bore you guys with a non-Corvette project.

years ago before i bought it from my dad...

alternator was dead, killed the battery in process. he was always yelling at me for charging batteries in the garage, creating harmful gasses and whatnot. in my infinite hate of having to take the fender panel off to get the battery out, i sat on the sill, put it in neutral, and started pushing back with me leg.

one awful crunch noise later i realized i did not have the door closed enough to clear the door opening, and wiped out the edge. he repaired it decently but it broke the skin and the inner door edge so last year i finally found a good door with no scratches or nicks in the right color that actually is a very good match to the original paint.

I wish I could find one.

I drove 3 hours to pick one up in my truck, and 1 block from my house, I was cut off, and had to evade up a curb, which chipped the corner off it (It was strapped down in the bed.)

So then I ordered one from vette2vette, and the UPS guy dropped it 5' over the front fence into my townhouse patio, which broke the corner of the door.

So I gave up.

In the short term, I need to drop the original engine back in, then time permitting, I plan to wash and wax the car before cruising season.

Why's your car in storage? It's been 80+ degrees the past couple of days...

I am awaiting the arrival of my new Multi-million dollar cylinder head set to finish the motor. But, my biggest thing on my list is "Find somebody to do my to-do list".....which ain't gonna happen and I know it, so I'll end up doing it myself....I'm getting too old for this stuff.
