I'm working a four hour shift this morning, and than having lunch at a fairly nice restaurant in Philadelphia with my lovely wife. Afterwards, we're heading up north into the mountains to visit with one of my longest term and best Corvette friends (some of you on C4 Guru know him - he recently became a grandfather). We'll drink a little, eat a little, talk a little: that's all, nothing fancy.

I am going to spend a nice evening with my wife and daughter. We are going to the sis in laws house and spend what will likley be the last holiday with my wifes parents. They are both stage 4 cancer.
Then first thing tomorrow morning, I will likely spend 8-12 hours driving back to my bungalo in New Hampshire. If I am lucky, I can get back to visit the wife and daughter in the next couple of weeks.

Northeast Pennsylvania seems to be the cancer capitol of the US. Kills everyone I know here. I feel bad for the wife and her sister. They are the ones taking care of them. Very tough for them.

Well, I'm sick as a dog, have been for a couple days now. C4Guru has kept me occupied during my up times.

A bunch of my Corvette buddies are having a New Years Eve party at one of my friend's house, but we ain't gonna make it. He lives an hour away and the cops are out tonight in force, plus I feel like crap.

They will all be shootin' pool, drinkin' beer and checking out the 65 and 07 Vettes in his garage. Oh well...there is always next year!

We are watching football... I am sure that's the extent of it.

AFAIC, New Years Eve is amatuer hour... it's when all the morons go out and party and then drive home, because they don't know any better.

Yeh, that's the reason I'm not taking my sick butt out tonight. New Years is fun if you have a plan and a place to stay (off the road).

I don't want to meet any drunks on the road and I surely don't want to put myself in any compromising situation!!

Got to work a very short clean-up shift today, 5 to 7pm.
Then off to my parents house, 20 miles away (Never know if I'll get that oppertunity again). Country driving, so hopefully won't run into any revelers.

Happy New Year everybody.

PeteK,

We will place your i laws in our prayers. Lost my mom to cancer in '66. Still hard to believe this many years later. Be safe on your journies back and forth to NH.

Happy New Years to C4guru

I worked earlier today. So far for tonight, I'm craving lasagna, but that's as far as we've gotten. I was craving lasagna the other night, so we went out to a local resto that's 'under new management.' It was okay, but apparently didn't satisfy the craving, since I still want lasagna. I suppose I could get off my lazy butt and make it, but as I said, lazy.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Just finished painting the arcade...for now. I still have to build a box to hold the 4 cards that will be in the game then paint that. Still need a 32-34 inch TV and still need a card to convert the signal from RGB to TV. On top of all of that I have to still re-wire the cabinet and buy and install new T-moldings. I think thats it.

Went to a Celtic festival in a small town 20 miles from home and listened to a bunch of live Celtic bands. Owner of the company I work for called (old friend we always have a good time when we get drinking) called and told me to get my ass over there for the ball drop. Me and the wife headed out and arrived with 5 minutes to spare. Had a drink, watched the ball drop and just got home at 2:30am.

All in all a good New Years Eve!

HAPPY NEW YEARS GURUHEADS!!

SPLURGED and got Michelob? Michelob is my everyday beer. Not that expensive. I drink at least 4 Every night, usually 5 or 6. 7 days a week. Lager in the winter, Ultra in the summer. I don't like the light. I splurged for Christmas and bought a case of Guinness Stout. IMO,extra stout is too much like drinking coffee flavored motor oil! Then for New Year's I bought a bottle of Crown Royal and a 2 liter of sprite. Wife wanted to splurge and buy a bottle of Dom Perignon Champagne. Yeah, $135 per bottle. I bought 2 of the $23 bottes and they didn't last 2 hours with 4 of us here. Glad I didn't spring for the Dom! I think I'm still sobering up. Ended up partying in the house till 2:30am, then I snuck on here for a while, then ended up in the hottub till almost daylight. GREAT New Years.

PeteK, I live in central PA and cancer seems to be above normal in this area too. I've known several people who managed to beat it, thank God. I will say a prayer for your wife's parents and your family.

Case, I don't believe I've ever heard of any of those. I'm not sure if they are available here or not, I'll ask at a few places next time I go out. Yes, the stouts are a little coffee tasting, but I love Guinness. Just not the extra stout. If I find myself drinking the Michelob Lager too fast I change over to Guinness. I drink it much slower than any other beer for some reason. Good thing, it runs $37 per case here.
