We are trying to create a better site. A site where information is shared. Information that betters our knowledge.
At the same time, we can have fun, too. No question! However, if having fun means to bash other sites, their mods, or their members, what does that make us? No better. We need to rise above the pettiness. I know many of us were burned by one site, that's fine. We have GOT to put that behind us, or esle we won't grow and become the best site of its kind on the web. If we don't move forward, we will simply shrink into a clique of 30 or so regulars and no one will want to join in. I don't want that, and I don't think anyone else does it. We are better than that. We must rise above it and move forward. We will be moving to a new URL and we must start that move with a new attitude! Finally, if anyone has a problem with this (or anything), please tell us about it! Don't be afraid to bring up your concerns. You can email or PM me. Either way, I will listen! Couldn't agree more.
Other Corvette forums are frequented by... yep, Corvette owners. Dogging other owners is something I see complained about everywhere in the C4 vs. Cx threads. Negativity breeds negativity. This is an escape. Most of us have enough negativity at work, or at home. We don't need to come to a place of information and recreation, only to read of the latest beef with brand X. My C4 is getting better all the time. The Guru should too. |

I suspect the timing of this thread is only as bad as the timing of CF's latest batch of perm-bannings...

How about a separate section for "Other Forums Suck"?
That way all those that want to "discuss" the other sites can and those who don't care can jsut never go in there. |

I wrote this in the Admin section... We have been debating on how to deal with the spate of bashing threads... and we have determined there are two kinds of threads... bash threads and vent threads.
If you were screwed, that's one thing, but gee, there is no reason to spend time and go looking for examples of their myopia. With that said, my thoughts: We are going to go through this everytime CF has a mass-banning. And how we handle it is going to show folks a lot. I don't like the CF way, which is to stifle discussion. But I don't want us to be a bitch site, either... it's a trade off. I know what these people are going through... and for those of us banned from CF all feel it. Until you have had that rug yanked, words cannot describe it. At the same time, I have ZERO desire to go back there. It feels like enemy territory to me now. To be honest, it feels like I was dumped. I asked Jesse to let me access my PMs, and it turned into an object lesson from him, on how sinful I was. It was much like asking an ex-gf that I wanted my shit back. I am sure others are feeling it. It is a sense of rejection. The collective we gave so much time and energy to that site, and the end result? Bitch slapped... Yes, it stings... I would be lying if it didn't. But this is a better place and we need to project that. That's it. Venting is good, bashing is bad. |

It's all water under the bridge to me,,,,any one person can have a bad day, but it is not right to hide behind a PC and snipe or rag on others.
There will be a know-it-all at every board you go to,, but all it takes is for a person to take a step back and sometimes, just ignore a post or two. Nobody feels worse about this than I. After all I did over there, my thanks was a kick in the ass.
When I was a Mod, we never paid attention(to my knowledge) to other sites and their comments about CF. The attitude at CF was, so what? They are there we are here and it should be the same here. Let them do whatever they want over there and we do what we want here. I'm still a member there and I will attend the Cruise In, mainly because I'm one of the few that have gone to all of them. But this year, if I donate to St Judes, it will be on my own and not through CF. I only registered for two events at Cruise In and I'm not staying at the host hotel either. I have my own activities planned for the week. I consider this my new home and CF the occasional vacation spot now. It's also great to post here without any pressure. |

Alright Andy....so at least take it off the top of every forum group.
Stick it on the home page. I'll tell ya why I bring this up. Ever see someones PC monitor and it has a dozen post notes all over the border? I'll betcha they have completely forgotten what most of those notes are for, or why they wrote them. The top of each forum is a list of globals or stickys that most simply find annoying and have to scroll down to the first active post. The stickys are ignored and forgotten. IMHO, if one was to release the stickys and bring them back every so often I believe the views will pay more attention to the topic and content. My $0.02 worth |
