Yeah right. Tell us another one!:toothy8:

Nice times without nitrous. What do you anticipate when you turn your nitrous on? Should be pretty close to 10.5 -- or maybe lower?

Go to your nearest welding supply store and they should be able to point you in the right direction. I have used the self darkening hoods but there are many different kinds and without seeing it I couldn't tell you where the battery is.

I'll bet that capital letter didn't take as long as it did for me to remove that page from my parts book, scan it, edit it, change the format, locate and up load it to a photo hosting site and link the URL to the post. For all that, I was rewarded with a single capital letter. And because of that capital letter, I was inspired to reopen, crop and chop, the photo, because you said, "looks like im missin a lot of stuff under my azz um rearend!!!". I did that because I knew you probably weren't missing as much as you indicated. I thought maybe you were going to cooperate and maybe reciprocate with proper, legible postings. However, for my reward I got:Quote:

I have gone to some effort for you. I have extended the olive branch in hopes you would respond in kind. I have made the first move toward a peaceful coexistence. I know more about the '84 than the average bear. I can be a useful ally. All I ask for is a little common courtesy and that you act as though you appreciate it.

Its a Lincold 110 from Home Depot. it came with the roll of flux core wire.

Do you think if I got some of those think grey tarps and hung them up that would be safe enough? Dont wanna catch anything on fire here. Wish I could do this outside the garage but that would get me kicked out of here ASAP. (condo complex).

They frown on "working on cars" or relate noise". I get along with everyone and work with the garage door shut just to keep the peace.

Just wait til the day I fire this beast up, they are going to crap their pants

Just curious:

I know that the 4+3 is part auto and part manual. I don't understand how it works.

Does it have a clutch and a torque converter?

Can you take me through the gears from a stop to a 70 MPH interstate cruise?

Mine's sitting in the garage too. Maybe I should put it back on the car and hide a nitrous bottle under it.

Nitrous? STFU. Put your soon-to-be-installed EOC there. You're going to need it for all the tracks you've yet to visit. Plus, the extra weight will help your 50/50 distribution. Did you remove your AC yet? No excuses.

Also, notice the original post was in July of 2006.

I know I don't keep my pictures hosted forever.
Once this site gets up and running stronger with more traffic, it won't be so easy to bring an extremely old thread back to life.

I think that the overall navigation thru the site needs to be made a little easier (more user friendly). Put the search controls and the "last posts" searches on top. Maybe consolidate some of the sections so that you have more posts in a concentrated area.

I also agree with the other members comments about "jazzing" up the look of the site a bit.

Otherwise it's great to have this alternative source for C4 information. I don't know all of you but I do know that in the last 1.5 years of being on th CF I've gotten a lot of useful info and help from many of the guys that are now exclusively on this site. So I will support it.

Thanks

No, it is not illegal because nobody is "making" you go there.

There is no infringing on certain rights, because you have no rights in that case. It's a private company and they can do what they want (same as here). You can choose to visit or not. It's your "right" to choose.

I dunno, sounds like a stretch to me. If I had a choose I would choice not to allow ads into the part where my user name and words are.

A skim cut, to ensure they are flat, would be almost impossible to detect and since that is the case, there is no harm if they had been trued. If you fear a more substantial cut, you could cc the combustion chambers. Is there a specific reason for your concern?

Some machinists will mark them somewhere with a metal stamp .10", 020" etc. But if you haven't seen something like that then have them CC'd to see where you stand.

It's work in progress but I drive it to work every day. It's a little mismatched right now. It'll run 11.80's at 115mph without the juice. Thats with a 3000 stall and 3.07 gears.
I installed the NX kit to race a cocky fella in a supercharged Viper that runs 10.50's. He's got about $125,000 in it. He said I was out of my league. I don't care if he beats me I just want to make him sweat!!!!
I'm in it for $20K total! Not bad huh?
The car owes me nothing. I have put over 100,000 miles on it myself. It has been the most enjoyable car that I've ever owned. It's not the prettiest but it's friggin fast!

Until you insulate the outside wall (along with a nice insulated garage door), all the heat you put in there is just going to leak right out.

Of course, you can add a lot of heat and it will be warm. But in order to do that your going to be spending a lot of money (Propane, Electric, etc.) None of it is free.

A wood stove is probably the cheapest (if you can cut your own wood). If you have to buy wood, then it's not so cheap either.

You need to stop the cold air from coming in, and what heated air you add from whatever source you choose from leaking out.

Also, keep in mind it's a very bad idea to heat a well sealed space with kerosene or propane. Carbon Monoxide is deadly.

A couple of months ago I installed a built 4L60E in my '95 and also at that time, reinstalled my 3000 Vigilante for the first time in about a year or so. All's been well until today when I took the first trip on the interstate with it in a couple of weeks. It was only a short trip, about 10 miles, to visit my new employer that I'm going to work for soon. Anyhow, it wouldn't go into converter lock-up either there or on the return trip. However, once I got back on the two-lane for the last few miles before home, it kicked in fine at 45-46 MPH where it normally does. On this curvy road, I'm unable to get much over 55 for long but it went in and stayed in as it should. I haven't checked for codes yet, it's just too freakin' cold here to go out in the garage tonight! But I will check that Saturday. I just wondered if anything might jump out at you as to why it would work at slower speeds but not at 70 or so. Thanks.

The best thing I ever bought was a torpedo Proane Heater. Not sure onthe BTU, but it heats fast. I use my outdorr grill tank on it. PLus around here, Home Depot has a 24 hour tank exchange. $16.80 right now for a full tank. Can't beat it. Doesn't take long at all to heat..especially in your small garage.

Well I have been sick with a upper respiratory infection going on a week now. I had planed on working on the car while I was off but that went to hell. I have gone out to the garage twice today and it is frigid in there. I might have to take a ride over to Lowe's and see what kind of options we have availabe these days. I know that technology keeps improving. I might be able to find a nice little heater that won't kill the electric meter.

Thanks all

I wish mine looked that nice. My wife doesn't seem to understand that the "working conditions" are very important to the work that gets done. I have been considering something like "Race Deck" flooring, but with my income Race Deck is out of the question. The garage is around 440 sf and at Race Deck prices that would set me back around $2000. I'm wanting something in the $5-600 range.

The "Race Deck" type of flooring will keep it more comfortable in the winter time, because it gets your feet up off of the concrete. I have found a couple of options that I need to look into a little closer.

I don't know of too many options that will fit your circumstances, Don. The electric is the most viable option, but those CAN run the bill up. A fiend of mine has a little electric heater that he says works great and he said, it didn't really affect his bill (actually his wife told me it didn't make a significant difference in their bill). I would guess you have to decide if you can deal with the cold for a couple of months or handle some higher electric bills for a little bit.

Id love to have a 58 done up 60s nosatlgia style (love straight axle gassers!) , a mid year but I cant fit into eiher one of them .

Id love to have a 70 ZR1 or LT1 for some reason...ah, you know what, just a chrome bumper C3 with a 4 speed would be fine.

BUT, Im kinda spoiled by the C4, after having a C3 I know I wouldnt be happy with a C3 again .Good car for its time but I "know better" unless ya get one thats done/close to it.

Hmmm...

That's a tough scenario.

Are you looking to keep the car warm, or just make it tolerable for you to work in there?

I think an electric heater is probably the safest and least invasive thing, but yeah, it will cost to run it. But if you can't vent the stove, and kerosene stinks I'm gonna say electric.

We used to have this little ceramic heater. It was about 8 inches square. You could heat a bedroom with that sucker.

I also have a little propane camping heater. It looks almost like an audio speaker, but the cone part is flat on the wide end. You just fasten a small bottle of propane to it, and light the front of it. It doesn't smell too bad, but you would probably want a little ventilation.

We had a major snowstorm a couple years back, and our power went out. We held out for about six hours, then started to freeze. So we bought the propane camping heater as a last resort. We used it right in our damn living room for a couple hours. We just opened a window a crack.

Worst case scenario is that you are cold for a couple months, I guess. Best of luck though.

That would be cool, but this is a little garage. Barely enogh room for me and the car and my tool boxes. Also this is temporary for two more months. This is a rental house so I can't vent the stove.

However, I'd love a wood stove in the garage. That would be awesome!

A nice little wood burning pot-bellied stove? An old friend of mine's dad had a wood shop out in their garage. I would say the garage was built late in the nineteenth century. Almost big enough for a large car... But a band saw, lathe and other goodies fit nicely.

A stove a little bigger than a beer keg kept that place toasty!

I sure can't speak for everyone, but I'd gladly pay maybe $20 a year or more to keep Dale off the site. I figure a good knowlegde base can save any one of us hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars. Whether by keeping us from spending money on labor costs, or flat out making costly errors.

For example, keeping someone from purchasing an airfoil kit that destroys your engine...

Wait! Who me? What did I do?!

Oh, you KNOW what you did, mister!

Actually I was referring to the popups for Dale Earnhardt's TV show that CF was promoting the crap out of when the in-post advertisments started. I think I have started one thread since then. Replied to more than a few, but I did not want to start a thread that advertises a product I do not endorse or get paid to promote.

Where I'm currently living and working on my car, the garage is a small one car garage. It is not insulated on the outside wall and has a cheesy garage door. Needless to say it is cold as sheet out there. I have a kerosene heater but it stinks to high heaven. I was wondering if there is any better alternatives to heating the garage while I'm out there that wont burn down the house and won't cost the electric bill $300 extra this month.

Yup, work has a way of messing up a good time, that's for sure.

2 degrees!?? Crikey! Plus a bit of humidity and wind chill too, I suppose. Not fit for humans, I tell ya!

My mom lives in Grand Forks ND. I hear tales of wind chill in the -50s. I cannot imagine that your body can actually tell -20 from -50. You just die faster. :shaking:

CSS996, I missed your morning post this morning. Sometimes work just has to come first. I hate it when that happens.

Wow, 52 huh.

It was 2 degrees in Rolla, Mo this morning. No snow, just cold.
Supposed to be in the 50's or 60's by the weekend though.

Crap, spring can't come fast enough for me.

Oh, and 16 years for me at the same company.
I am sure you'll do what's best for you and your family.

Well Andy, since you broke the mold and went outside of Corvettes, I would love to have a Saleen S7.

Were these used heads worked over before?

How can you tell if used heads have been skimmed/flattened in the past? I just picked up a pair of inexpensive 113 heads and am curious whether I can determine if any material has been removed during the life of the heads. Is there a measurement that I can use?

One thing I do like at the other forum is the ability to search all of your own recent post, within the past 1,2,5 days up to 2 weeks. Sometimes I just want to only see all the threads I replied to.

In response to a PAY IT FORWARD there is one at this link: http://www.c4guru.com/modules.php?nam ... file=viewtopic&t=1351

note it is under the C4 parts for sale/wanted. please stop by and list and request items!

The smilies are neat, possible could have additions added

background and colors would be cool

Vette O Month contest via poll great idea

Photo hosting, i agree! Unfortunately it is sad about IT folks blocking access to Photobucket, youtube and several other sites but because of certain lacking of "RATINGS" on these sites it becomes a major issue with corporations giving aces to everyone.

Font control **** it is sometimes hard to read with the different shades of blue in the background. Maybe using 12 or 14 font size would help.

Over all I am very pleased with the C4Guru website. I sure do NOT miss all those adds spread all over every page at that other place.

Thanks for the admins and mods being people oriented. Keep up the great stuff.....

Hello all. Well I found my way here. Apparently I have been banned on that other forum. Don't know why. But it looks like I found a place where all the good guys are at. I don't post very much just like to look and learn. Or is that lurk and learn? Anyway here I am.
