I have posted here before about trying to get my Steel Blue 91 to look presentable.
The car had set in the sun on a lot of Southern US Air Force bases and the paint was quite faded. The rear clip was very faded and chalky and the front clip was flaking off down to the primer due to a poorly installed bra.
I was able to bring the main body up to speed by using a Porter Cable buffer and Mother's Heavy Cut/Fine Cut/Swirl Remover.
The rear clip came out kinda sorta OK but I am not 100% happy with it. I sanded down the front and repainted it but was unable to blend the colors to match the faded body.
SO - just to get it on the road I ordered a mini bra from Corvette Central over a week ago (still not here ). I will then be able to get her on the road.
BUT - looks like a total repaint is in order. I did get a great buy on the car though so I am not unhappy.
Now for the bad news. Chest pain for the last few weeks with moderate activity. I had a stress test and they found a blocked artery. I am going in to the cath lab of the local heart center and will probably come back with a stent.
I am 64, short and heavy. Don't smoke or drink and I exercise from time to time. Cholesterol has been good but I know I am too damn fat as I love those carbs!
Time to get serious and start eating healthy. I am a little worried about the procedure as I know that a certain percentage who have this done never wake up again.
Thanks for letting me vent my worry. Wife says I will be fine and am just a big baby.
I am hoping to get the car and my health sorted out so I can go to the C4 gathering at the NCM in mid May.

stents are the way to fly, bro...

They are SERIOUSLY better than bypass surgery. I read an article in the paper a few years back (Philly Inquirer) where they pointed out that bypass surgery had serious risks to memory loss and congnative skills. And the few ppl I knew who had bypass seemed to loose their edge after the procedure. The writer was taking us along in his decision to fix his blocked artery.

The Vette will still be there, but your health is important. God Speed, my friend. I am SURE you will be a-ok and feel 100% better after they are done!!!

Ron,

First off Good Luck with the stint and a quick revovery. I have a few friends that have had this done and said it was the best thing that ever happened to them. They feel great now and have changed their lifestyle a bit to keep it there.

Good luck with the stent, Ron. My dad just got one a few months ago and he's already back in better shape than he was. I'm sure the car will come along, too!

Matthew

ps, I moved your topic.

Good Luck Ron! As I always like to say it could be worse.. Now go out and live life and enjoy every minute .. Small changes will make big differences just keep looking forward.. I'm 6 months out from 2 pulmonary embolism's at 46. My doc cannot believe the progress I've made.. It takes a little work but the end result is well worth it! Keep us updated

FWIW, I agree with the other "doctors". You're gonna be just fine. A stint has become such a regular procedure that
any reputable surgeon can do it with one hand tied to your wallet.

hey Ron, it's been a long time since I've heard from you. I guess I hadn't heard that you were back in the Corvette fold. Are you still working or have you retired? I would think that the stint is going to make you a 'new man'. Glad that you got it checked out. As a medical guy, I'm sure you knew, or at least had a good idea. We'll be thinking of you as you make your way through this thing.
