Good morning gang.

Interesting tid bit this week I learned. The date is the same when it it written backwards or fowrards. 4/16/14.

Not much going on.

Word of the Day Wednesday, April 16, 2014

picayune\ pik-ee-YOON, pik-uh- \, adjective;

1. of little value or account; small; trifling: a picayune amount.

2. petty, carping, or prejudiced: I didn't want to seem picayune by criticizing.

noun:

1. (formerly, in Louisiana, Florida, etc.) a coin equal to half a Spanish real.

2. any small coin, as a five-cent piece.

3. Informal. an insignificant person or thing.

Origin:

Picayune is rooted in the Provençal word picaioun which meant "small copper coin." It is likely derivative of an onomatopoetic base pikk- which sounds like the process of beating and coining copper.

I have a job I dread today. Moving stuff. Have to clear a 10x15 storage unit and store it in it's new location. Do any of you have storage units? My sister has a couple and my FIL has more than a few. They store megatons of stuff that should have been sorted, sold or disposed of long ago. Hundreds of dollars out the door every month just to keep it out of sight, out of mind. If people realized they could get all new stuff and more for the money they're paying to store that junk I don't think they'd be so quick to keep it. I told my stepson when he was paying $75 a month for one of those cubes they put on your property that it was a waste of money. I told him he could have bought a brand new shed he would have owned for the money he gave away on a cube rental. Oh well. Have to get my picayune coonass to work. Later, gurus and gurettes.

Good Morning CGs!

Yeah, Tommy, those storage units tend to collect a lot of crap. I've had them once or twice, but only short term while I was moving and then got the rest of my stuff out. Now I have a basement and garage for all the crap that I should have sorted, sold, or disposed of a long time ago

Wifey is at work again today. Yesterday I was a good cinder-fella and cleaned the whole upstairs including 2 bathrooms. Wife said I did such a good job that my reward is I can clean the downstairs today. Am I lucky or what? I don't think that will happen. I will vacuum because I hate seeing crumbs and dirt on the floor, but I also have a workout planned and I would like to get in the garage and work on the rototiller. It's been sitting unused for 5 years and I am sure it needs a carb. I'd like to get it running.

Last night I fed my tool addiction and bought a couple things on ebay I've been looking for. One was a snap on double flaring tool and the other was a gearwrench ratcheting stubby flex set. Looking forward to getting those.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Rufie ta hpo!

I overslept this morning, so I'm behinder than usual. I was happy to not see any snowflakes this morning, but supposedly there's an 80% chance we'll get some. Ducky.

I saw a blurb on this car in AutoWeek - it brought back a childhood memory:

http://www.examiner.com/article/ford- ... acar-flying-on-the-ground

When I was 4 or 5, a family friend owned the Ford dealership in town. She (yes, she - probably pretty unusual for a woman to be running such a business back in the late 50's) came over to visit and brought along a promotional model of the Levacar, complete with the little tube you'd blow in to make it fly. I remember playing with it on the kitchen table - it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. Sadly I didn't get to keep it.

Morning guys...We have a storage unit that we stored all the furniture when our daughter moved back in with us. And now that she's back out on her own we still have it because, well, it's full of sh!t. I need to go through there and and thin it out.

Supposed to be semi-springlike the rest of the week. No school Friday, so we are headed to KC for Easter.I think I decided to take the Corvette.

Breaking in a new laptop at work today. We are upgrading from Win XP to Win 7. Yep, we live on the bleeding edge of obsolesence here.

It snowed almost all day yesterday. Today looks a little better. Why am I wearing my winter coat in the middle of April ? Oh I remember why, global warming is in full force.

Have a great guru day !

You only need money.......when you run out of it, like me.

Work stops on the 67 today, I was almost done.

I have to clean the shop and find the workbench under all the bodywork tools.

A guy is dropping off his 1965 Lotus Formula Ford racecar for me to get track ready on Friday.

$40 an hour to play with racecars, kinda DNBFS+ .

My storage unit is out in the shop and up in the rafters that we put a floor down in and started stuffing things up there....important things like old sleds and trikes that the kids rode...a set of stock wheels for the XTerra we use to own and other stock wheels that I replaced with cool wheels. All kinds of lumber stuff from the constructions on the house over the years....and on and on and on...

My storage unit would be considered my attic. It's not near as full of crap as it used to be. I was really stupid and let my ex haul off three truck loads of stuff from there including a lot of things I should have kept including a metal top Craftsmam work bench with peg board and all. Dumb.
Low work flow today so maybe I can get together some web graphics for the boy that's constructing our new work page. He's a tool and irritating me badly. 4/1/6/14 - mamma's been gone 5 years today - don't seem like that long. Lost two more that same week. If hell don't freeze over I'll go to the gym again tonight take my mind off things.

Good morning, Gurus!

Snow? That's crazy. Today looks to be a little cooler since we're starting with some morning marine layer. The last couple days have been in the high 70s.

I've been here, but lurking. Been out and about running errands, ingredient shopping, and gladly finding a new cookie scoop since my other one finally broke.

My conference call that was set for this morning has been cancelled, which also means the time I had set aside for afterwards to write up the meeting notes has cleared up - now what to do with my time? =)

Probably the best obit I've ever read. I wonder if he wrote his own or someone close to him penned it?

That's what I was thinking. Way to go!

So, you're all brain dead.

Doesn't apply to me since I quit celebrating birthdays at 23.

Sue and I have never rented a storage unit of our own. You can never have enough storage space though. If we have it built we will fill it. It goes back to what BillH was referring to. The more you have the more space you need to store it. Of course hoarders have more stuff than they have space.

All I have left is an 8 x 10, filled to the roof, 3 motorcycles, a 125 shifter kart, a weight bench (yea, there was a worthwhile purchase , a BBQ smoker (used way more that the weight bench), more racing slicks that I forgot to take to the dump.

I'd like to have a hoard........of C2's

Hummm, just got a "Get Well" card from the hospital,

Signed by some of the nurses in the operating room,

If they wouldn't have had me so loaded from the drugs,

I might have remembered a few of them.
