I put Mobil 1 10w 30 in and I was woundering if that is a good oil.

We use Mobil 1. 10w30 (green) in the Jeep, and 5w30 (blue) in the Vettes.

Just put some amsoil in mine.

If you live in a real cold climate, use 0-30. If you are in the rest of the world, 5-30 and 10-30 are just fine.

Just don't run a super heavy oil... 20-50 is a bad idea!

Modern engines are so tight that thick oil might not make it around the tightly machined passages.

I met this knowitall at Sebring a few years back. He just got a Mitsu Evo. The first thing he was doing? Changing to 20-50 motor oil. What a maroon. I know it's a turbo, but 20-50 is so not a good fit.

I know that BMW uses 10-60 in their M series motors. That is some expensive stuff... 9.00 a litre!

Then for expensive? Shell Helix. That is what Ferrari uses.

Relating to Bogus' comment, really thick oil will increase your guage reading which seems good but that's because it's too damn thick to flow which means you're getting less lube to the cam and top end.

Question, when did you change the oil?

Were you running synthetic before? If not, that could be the cause...

Mobil 1, 5W30 every 4500 to 5000 miles with filter change at each oil change. Presently 111K on LT1.

Ditto, Mobil 1 5w-30 every 5000 with a new filter each change.

10w30 Penzzoil or Q-state

I use Mobil 1 5/30, Costco has a coupon starting 4/4 for $8 off a case of 6.

I use Mobil 1 5W30 every 4000 miles with a K & N oil filter.
Think I'm up to 143,000 miles.

Royal Purple 5/30. Read an article in Vette Magazine or one of the other vette specific rags. It gave about 6hp gain over M1 and 2-3 over Castrol.

M1 5-30 every 5000 with a Napa Gold filter (relabeled Wix for a lot less $$ )

I dont use expensive oil becasue I pull my enigne every 18 months
