94 vette running PFZ pads on J55 setup. It'll put you through the windshield on the first stop. No warm up needed. I don't dislike them that's for sure. I do prefer Hawk HPS though. I also haven't driven this car in below freezing temps. I broke them in the same way I normally break in the HPS Pads; never had a problem with those. Does anyone know the "Proper Break In Proceedure?" It would be nice to know for the future how to properly break the pads in. I can't blame autozone for what happened. This was entirely my fault. I normally research EVERYTHING to death before I buy it. I, as most of you know, have been known to ask some of the stupidest, and simpliest questions on here and on CF. But I have to say none of the information I obtained has gone to waste. The information I have obtained and the opinions over the years have saved me thousands of $$ and made the first installation the last. When I went into AZ I figured I was just going to by some OE parts to put onto the beater. I never imagined that ANYTHING AZ sold would be anything close to a racing product so when they suggested what I thought to be their version of a high performance pad, I figured, "how bad could it be." You can't expect someone getting paid $10 an hour to know how everything in the store is going to work or even care for that matter. When I go into AZ I usually go in knowing exactly what I am looking for. That leaves little or no room for error; although they have still been known to screw my order up. What I am interested to know more than anything is why PFC is selling Z rated racing pads for a 3.4L, Monte carlo, with the small brake kit, though autozone none the less???????? Makes no sense. If I decided to swap out the pads, can anyone suggest a useable autozone pad that I could purchase in place. The car spends 90% of its time on the highway, and I usually drive 500-700 miles week at around 75-80MPH. DG

Evaporator emission pressure control valve to keep the tank from going poof in the desert while keeping vapor in to save the drowning polar bears? Said with authority, I'd believe that. :thumbleft:

I thought that was discontinued with the flux capacitor. I'm planning a new fuel line run from the manifold to the frame rail, I need to know if I need this thing and the implications of taking it out.

it doesn't offend... what does is that someone is spending good time volunteering for a corporate entity. What's next, people voluntarily handing out flyers for Exxon? How about Wal-Mart?
As for the mod? Gee... I am guessing cor07vette.

That test will check for a problem with the switch. If the SES fires with a EGR code, then you know WHY the code has fired. If it happens at start up, it's the switch, if it happens after a drive, then it's the valve. Now, with all of that said, I should have included an inspection of the vacuum lines, but gee, those are such a bitch to reach on the L98, you have to go through the same process to check them as you do to replace the damned valve!

Another thread got started, where you're told up front by the mod that if you bitch, you get banned.
Some guy is making flyers for CF, and he just doesn't get it that they're a for profit orginization. He's giving them free advertising. Guess the moderator who posted this; (or look it if, I gave enough clues) can't speak for GM but as long as you are not using it to promote the event as a CF event and just handing out flyers etc you are good to go. next person who posts anything about "ads and IB" will be taking time off. Either you like the flyer or you don't....if you have suggestions post 'em. The continued whining complaining and shots at IB and ads on this site are really old. Its over and done....get over it

If I'm not behind the wheel, then i'd rather be watching WRC (rally). I also like Nascar because I can sleep through most of the race and wake up for the end.
They also have a CORR series down here (stadium trucks) which is pretty damn exciting. I want to head down to one of their events and also check out some NHRA at Pomona.

Oh, yea, I love the Hawk HPS pads, too. They are great for the street. I doubt they would last all that long on the track, tho.

the LS1 guys started this a long time ago to help avoid these same type of issue with redundant posts. www.ls1sounds.com seems to me like a good idea to try and compile this info for people.

This one's a sticky in the C4 section over there. While it's not as dramatic at the one Vis linked to, it's pretty bad in its own way and that's because it happens much more frequently:

If they are working on low volume hand laid fiberglass, I can see the $500. I think it's supply and demand though. If you have a good volume going, making them out of carbon fiber should cost about $500.
tobi, I'd look into it still. I was thinking about it too myself. I have a great fiberglass company about 45 minutes from me. Looks like I may have been a little late though. Let us know what you plan. I've got an 88 vert here that could use a pair to hide the 11s we are putting on it.

I am not sure, but I think it's a "shock absorber" thingy... kinda removes the hammering of the fuel as it goes through the lines.
Any other ideas???

Weird. Looks like a newer version of a fuel pulsator. It dampens out pulses in the fuel pressure to prevent "water hammer" in the fuel lines.
I would not expect this in the return line though, the pressure mostly is erratic in the supply line from the injectors firing all at once.

This is on the return fuel line coming off the manifold. The round part.
Appears not to be a check valve. Any ideas? Do I need it or can I replace the line without it? Thanks.

Incidently, the little single and double 'ear' crimp-style hose clamps seen I'm almost postive that Oetiker says specifically not to reuse them. It's not something you want to plasticly deform more than once. On an aside, I'll tell you to never ever use them with plastic (PEX) water pipes in your home, or you'll be springing leaks in no time. I'm working on a case right now that is springing leaks left and right from corroding stainless clamps and causing huge $ losses from flood damage.

I wonder though, did you bed them in? These pads require that as do most performance pads. Maybe try that before you ditch them. If you're still not satisfied, I bet you could make AZ take them back. Sorry to hear of your troubles. It sucks having to do the job twice.

interesting find. I bet it would be a good investment if you'd hold onto them for say 10 to 15 more years. I'd question their condition as well. Are these wrapped in plastic or in a container? I'd hope it's more than just sitting on a pallet with plugs in the ports and other holes.

Another vote for 350-400rwhp depending on torque band. More is fun but can be frustrating if you cant get it to the ground.
Drove a TT C5 awhile back that was a big letdown. Dyno queen that did nothgin but burnouts in 1st and second, didnt pull hard as expected in 3rd+up. Useless to me. 350rshp in a TPI car should be loads of fun. 350rwhp in a Z isnt nearly enough .

Ya think? That is a lot of hardware to get a "single-rib 'barb'" The reasons to prefer a hose barb over a single or double flare are two-fold. Firstly. The direction of the lip is reversed - a barb is directed such that it makes installation easy and removal difficult, the shape of a flare has the opposite result when used with hose. Secondly. On a flare, the intended sealing surface is the end of the tube where it becomes captured between the two opposing fittings. It doesn't matter that the outer surface upstream from the end is marred & deformed by longitudinal marks left by the anvil portion of the tool used to grip the tube while the die portion forms the flare. However, hose seals along this portion of the outside of tube - imperfections become points for seepage. But enough. CentralCoaster has his solution. If we are going to differ, let it be over something more substantial than this. Incidently, the little single and double 'ear' crimp-style hose clamps seen on euro and asian cars are known as Oetiker Clamps. With proper care, they can be reused multiple times. .

I would say 400rwhp, but torque is of mention here too. A killer TPI setup may not have a huge peak HP number but will be hazardous on street tires at WOT. I'm shooting for 350rwhp and 325 to 350 rwtq n/a, then spraying a 125 shot. I run nitto drag radials on the street to help with traction. Eventually I'll rebuild the bottom end, then I'm going for 400rwhp, 400rwtq, and a 300 shot. I really feel 400 at the wheels is more than enough for the street. Nitrous is for the track only.

I would be happy with 350 at the wheels.

One more question. There is a wavy washer. It is part of the plate lock and plastic part that goes on underneath the plate lock. Does this wavy washer go between these two. I pulled it all out as one, and got tipped over by my kitty cat. Anyways, the FSM doesnt really say if it goes on top of the plate lock or between the plate lock and the piece underneath the plate lock.

The company I work for just recently completely disassembled, restored, reassembled, and replaced a covered bridge. They rebuilt the abutments as well, and made them look like hand-laid stone. It is the Kramer covered bridge in Columbia county, over Mud Run in Rohrsburg. I think it is great that it was reconstructed instead of replaced. I haven't seen the bridge in person but I have seen many before and after pictures. The crew leader and crew that did the work are very meticulous. They are perfectionists, which is why they were chosen for the job.
