I'm always having something fixed. Sometimes major, sometimes minor. Today she was complaining about the mechanics who work on the Vettes. She drove up while I was having a fuse replaced. When I brought it in the temperature control panel worked just fine. When I picked it up I started to drive home and it was getting cooler outside so I glanced down to view the outside temp. Blank. Nothing there and no power to the panel. So I bring it back to the shop with the old WTF it was working fine when I brought it in. Two of the guys start to troubleshoot it. One of them misses the blown fuse because of it's awkward location but they check all the power and relays and everything is lighting up. The second guy goes and reinspects the fuse panel and finds the blown 15 amp fuse. He tells me he thinks he's got it. On the other side of the car I'm catching and earful. You keep bringing it to these guys and you keep getting f~(%ed. They fix one thing and they break another. Why don't you just bring it to the dealer and pay a little extra? How much are they gonna charge ya to fix this? Huh? Huh? Huh? It better be for free. They're the ones who f~(%ed it up. Keep in mind that every job they do comes in between 1/2 and 2/3rds of what the dealer would charge for the same job. All I have to do lately is just mention these guys and it's like saying Niagra Falls.

You've got a good woman there! Mine was fine with one, but I think I'd be dealing with the Niagara Falls thing if I brought home another ;-)

My wife doesn't seem to mind the Vette too much, nor does she complain when I spend money on it.

Hiowever, she does seem to get rather annoyed when I start fixing Vettes for other people, after they been hosed by some high end, reputable shop, and paid top dollar to get what they paid for. She wants me to start charging them.

Quite frankly, I hate raising the subject of $$$, and I also enjoy unfuggin what the best and brightest pros have screwed-up. Oh well, you get what you pay for.

I have only met one who liked the Vette, shes getting married soon to some dude. Stopped by a few months back and was surprised to see I still have the Camino she used to bug me to sell back in the 90s when we were still an item. It was priceless and she still remembered a conversation regarding an ultimatum she tossed about about it. lol

The rest have hated every toy Ive owned since day 1

"Why dont you sell that old POS and lease a BMW or something?"

Its against my religion to own anythign with more than 2 seats.

I told my wife the vette is cheaper than a girlfriend. She agrees, but still doesn't want me to spend too much $$$ on it. I'd like to have a few, but she says one is the limit. She prefers the late c3s because of the body style. She love to ride in the 89, but will never drive it.

My wife is pretty tolerant of the Vette. She doesn't especially like driving in it because she says that I can't drive it "normal", and she don't like the new exhaust system. As for the money... yeh she'd be happier if I spent it on furniture, jewelry, and gifts for her.

Overall she knows that it is a way of life for us. After ten years of Corvette ownership and how engrained I have become in our local corvette community, now that I'm president of the club etc. etc. etc. We live and breath these cars now.

I bought the sailboat to give me a diversion from the Vette.
LOL

She doesn't understand the sheer volume of cash I spend on something that could kill me (she has seen too many wrecks when watching racing on TV), but she gets 100% that it's what I love so she has never once said anything negative. And on the rare occasion when she comes to the track she loves riding for a few laps...

The closest we've come is when I was nagging her about something stupid she does, and she ended the argument by mentioning that she has never once brought up my hobby as a problem, so how am I entitled to complain about hers?

It pissed me off that she was right.

She loves 'em. We have had 4 Vettes, she liked every one. She had her own in '81, and it was a 4 speed manual too!

One more reason I don't have a spouse. Nobodys s**t to listen to.
And about that dealer. Around here you don't take a dead dawg to the Chevy Stealership. I have a couple of horror stories from that place.
Computers are what they are and all things blow in their due time.
Tell her about my repair bills and listen to her then!

I waited till my husband at the time was out of town deer hunting and bought it. Was there when he got home. He thought I had a dude hid in the house.
The next one I bought the week our divorce was final. His mustang got repossessed that same week.

Wow, what a subject. She hates it. Well, maybe hate is too strong, how about not very enthusiastic. My wife has only rode in it twice and both times I drove like a perfect gentlemen. She does not appreciate the Corvette experience. We have been together for 18 years and she knew I was a gearhead from day one. I finally could afford to buy one and she said I could if she could have a new car. Three days later she was driving a new Malibu and tried to back out of the deal . NOT! I think she is jealous of a car? Every conversation about spending money on it always ends in an argument . All in all I have zero regrets about buying it and would do it again.

My wife LOVES it when I'm busy in the garage working on the vette.

Cause when I'm hanging around her I make a point of being "annoying" (her word).

It's all complex, this plan-o-mine. So far, it's working.

(plus, I never, ever "ask" her about spending. My $ is hers and her's is her's, of course......but my business account is all mine )
