Do you walk to work or cut back on groceriesor do odd jobs? I plow snow with my ATV $60/hour and do security for my rich neighbors.

Any of you do anything or are you all rich C4 owners?

I used to build transmissions and sell torque converters to local racers, friends, and forum members. At times, I woudn't be able to keep up with the demand.

I do custom carpentry (furntiture) and produce a heavy truck alignment kit. The proceeds from these activities fund my Vette dreams.

My full time job pays the bills....

I also make t-shirts full time that pay the other half of the bills. I may have a few bucks and a few minutes to spare every few weeks to spend on those "damn Corvettes" as my wife calls them.

I don't do anything extra or anything less to fund my projects. (Maybe that's why I've never had any projects, lol) The corvette comes second to me, so there's no way i'd cut back on groceries or other things just to be able to do things to the car. Could I? Sure, but if did something extra or cut back on other things, it would be because I had bills to pay, not so i could pay for unneeded projects.

Corvette mods come second (or further down the list) for most of us, thus using money from a secondary source. Hence the op's post.
If I busted my ass getting dirty in the garage, after working a full week, I personally felt no guilt about pissing away that second income on my hobby.

I steal little old ladies' purses! Seriously, I also do a lot of whining until wifey gives in but mostly I buy all my planned project parts throughout the summer months so all I have to do is pull the parts off the shelf when winter gets here.

I do a lot of work on some local solid axle and mid-year Vettes. I have to fix what the high-end, reputable shops screw-up, after the customer has gotten what they paid for.

I didn't know there was any money in it. I guess I need to start charging for it...

i'm with him - pullapart and the internet. while i'm there pulling stuff for myself i have an eye out for stuff that can be resold for at least 2x what i pay for it. all intakes $23? so while there pull some PI ford ones and LT1 ones. all transmissions $43 - so i took half an hour and pulled a 4L80-E from a suburban.

i only fund the cars with car money, which is separate from what i make working. car money comes from parts deals, buying cars for parts and selling off the rest, and i toss my scrap into the car money as well, i get lots of copper, brass, and aluminum scrap in my line of work.

however, if the work truck needs fixed it comes out of my company money, and if i need a new daily driver or it needs snow tires or something it comes out of the $ i make working.

I have a line item in my budget for Car Maintenance.
It's more than I need for maintenance so I roll the extra over to the next month and let it build up.

Also extras on my contracting jobs help sometimes too.

I used to do that, then I tried extra work. Problem was, when I earned more, she found more the kids need. So now
instead of asking or working separately for it, I just buy it. It's easier to get forgiven than to get permission.
