Well I went ahead and did it!!! I added a C4 to the family! I met a guy awhile back who just bought a brand new Z06 and he really didn't need the money but more of the space for the new Z06. I was hinting around about buying it and then I finally shot him a pretty low price just kind of half serious and he said he would do it. I was shocked, but again the guy really didn't need the money and this kind of opportunity doesn’t come along too often. The wife is bought into it and is excited as well. I picked the car up from the guy today.

The car is a 1995 LT1, black exterior and black/tan interior. It has less than 70,000 miles on it and is very nice condition. I'll post pictures as soon as the weather looks better outside (rain sucks). I'm sure I'll be spending some time over here on the C4 side asking a few questions.

I just finally saw it this evening. after Sarah and I got some dinner.

It's an automatic LT1, completely stock, black with a tan/black interior, and VERY well kept. If the weather holds and if Curt's off tomorrow I'll snap some pics and get them posted.

These are very sophisticated cars and the option list will help me assess if you are going to run into potential problems.

The 1995 Opti is MUCH improved. Larger bearings, better sealing and postive venting.

The only worry is if the seal goes south and coolant gets in. Water is one thing, and the venting will suck that out. The coolant is another. Even a little can get in, be flung around and get into the (sealed) bearings. The seals, remember, keep greases in, not necessarily keeping coolant out! Once a little ethylene-glycol gets in, it eats the grease, which eats the bearings... Once that damage occurs, I am guessing you have about 5k miles before problems start to appear.

The trick? when you replace the waterpump, slather some RTV on the top of the opti. This will create a covering which will keep coolant out. Another trick is to put a drain line on the waterpump weep hole, leading any leaks off to the side.

How do you know if the waterpump is failing? Easy... the power steering will start to act really funky. Check for coolant, because it will weep off the pump and onto the serp belt, causing it to slip under load.

I agree.
A better trick is to get a MSD that's really sealed well.

My motor's due for a wash down in the next couple of weeks.

Andy,

I looked under the center console cover and there was nothing there. Then I looked under the rear compartment and found it there. Is that a normal place? I'll write down the options later as I didn't have time today.

Curt,

Great find on the 95!
Personally, I'd hold off on wheel mods until I got to think about what look I was after. However, if you already know what you want, then that's a done deal.

Welcome to C4 Love, now don't neglect the C3
