oooh... I flat out love the redline rims.

Specs, dude, specs. You can't just drop a bomb like this and expect us to not be asking for details!

Looks great! Did you do museum delivery? All I know, when I make it to that day to buy a new Vette, it will be museum delivery. No questions asked.

Was it a surprise? She looks VERY happy.

2012 Centennial Edition Coupe

Corvette Centennial Special Edition (ZLC) - includes those snazzy rims, Carbon Black Metallic paint (matches the granite in her kitchen), matte black racing stripes, classy Centennial ornamentation, F55 magnetic ride, J6F red calipers, suede interior fittings with red piping

Preferred Equipment Group (3LT) - heads-up with three modes, new for 2012 sport seats with heating, 9-speaker stereo, iPod/iPhone support, navigation, XM, etc.

6-Speed Paddle-Shift Transmission (MYC) - it's a daily driver!

Dual Mode Performance Exhaust (NPP) - all that technology for an extra 6 bhp

Dual Roof Package (C2L) - so much cheaper than buying an extra one later

Corvette Museum Delivery (R8C) - all kinds of awesomeness

No...it's more expensive, because they give you extra crap.

You get a tour of the museum and the plant. An album of your car being built and delivery inside the museum. The car is on display on the main concourse for at least the day it is to be delivered.

Will do. They're very nice - almost "Porsche-esque" (I know that's not a word). They feel more like driver's seats than most other C5 and C6 seats.

I have seen the new seats and they look sweet. Seriously more bolstering and much more support. Any Alcantera on them?

Was this a surprise for Ivelis or are you planning on doing something really stupid in the next 4-8 weeks and are planning ahead?

Glad they did something, the previous seats were a joke.

The seats have suede centers, but I don't think they're Alcantera - the suede is also on the steering wheel, shift boot, console, parking brake, and door pulls. The basic seat construction resembles the early C4 seats, and that is a compliment.

The C6 was not a surprise, though some features of the trip out and back were. I'm hoping not to be in trouble in the next 4-8 weeks, but this is explicitly her daily driver.

Dude. That is HOT. I'm usually turned off by the special edition cars, it most often amounts to some stupid stripe or emblems. But that gray is fantastic.

I love cars with all gas and no flash.

As for the cost of museum delivery, did you guys know that you can PAY $5000 to go help build your Camaro engine. Yup, you pay and then help build it.

I'm thinking they would be with new Corvette sales as low as they have been.......you're like a hero to those guys.....how does it drive compared to your C5?

Much more refined in cruising mode. Quieter, too - until you hit the accelerator. Under hard acceleration, loud and nose-up (the C5 hunkers down when you hit the gas hard).

Seats are really nice (and I though the late C5 sports seats were pretty good). Paddle shift six speed works very nicely.

So what will Ivelis' beater car be? Three Vette's doesn't equate to that first big snow storm!

You added to or built a garage, right? Or are you now almost out of garage space?

I mean, you can't let Lauren or Grace sit outside!!! That wouldn't be fair.

Can't resist.

Well ...

of course everything works ...

and there is that new Corvette smell ...

the normal new interior smell but also that vague smell of performance and comfort ...

strong smell of leather and a whiff of premium gas and expensive metals and the outgassing of medium quality plastics (where GM thinks we won't notice) ...

either fob in the car means that the start button glows green ...

start it and the trick exhaust is wide open for about a second and than closes ...

the car wakes up like it's alive - so much electronics ...

CORVETTE BY CHEVROLET moves in script across the Drivers Information Center ...

big CORVETTE logo on the navigation, in case you forget what kind of car you are driving ...

there's that classic slightly uneven engine rumble (1, 8, 7, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3 if you must know), a little smoother than before but still there (wouldn't want to be without that) ...

seatbelts on and back out slowly - the effortless power actually makes reverse a little sketchy (should you have two reverse gears?) ...

Xenon headlights with projector beam lenses are on because Twilight Sentinel says so ...

off into the early morning darkness

Bill,

That's still the same. The programmable part comes later: ours still says "Museum Delivery".

Describe to me, very slowly, what a brand new special edition Corvette feels and smells like.

Ah yes... it all works... the charm of R8C... predelivery inspection that actually FIXES something.

I would have to set my scroll to something like, "Good Morning, Dave"... it seems like HAL9000 runs these damned cars at times.

daisy...daisy...

That's an amazing car. I'd love to take it for a test drive

How about from Philly to Chicago? One way, right?
