So with darker days, colder nights, and snowy treacherous roadways looming around the corner....how will you occupy yourself in the garage?

I have to do (in no particular order):

1) master cylinder conversion
2) wind deflectors
3) targa top repair (new Melrose top!)
4) air pump eliminator (if the last part ever gets made!)
5) trans cooler (if I ever buy the parts...lol)
6) purchased fp gauge, trans temp gauge, pillar pods, and install
7) install relay for o2 instead of tapping into existing wire
8) front poly conversion?

AND...
9) dash cluster grounds and bulbs
10) interior window seals
11) diagnose heater controls? Flakey? nothing wrong!
12) shortened shifter mod
13) o/d disengage switch
14) fix a/c
15) LT4 exhaust swap
16) repair neutral safety switch
17) front end alignment
18) heater core (#!@#%$!^&)
19) window tint
20) (don't worry...there's always more )

I'm sure there are more to list but that's just off the top of my head.

So chime in.

Matthew

My list is unchanged from last year, since I did next to nothing this year. Now I just have to find the list before spring.

*edit* - I am contemplating a fluid damper, hope I can find one that is a 2-piece design. I still have an annoying engine vibration.

I am going to put in some new sparkplugs and do some engine bay dress up. Not a lot of bling just tastful stuff....I don't think there is a lot else to do.....its a C5.....

I will change out the anti freeze and brake fluid toward spring....Not a lot of bucks to spend on it.

I do have a set of the Corvette script valve covers for a L98 that I need to get a pic of and listed in the for sale forum.....I just missed Ron on them......

I'm actually finishing up my winter projects on the Vette. The biggest thing was removing the headers that I couldn't get to seal and filed the ends of the primaries so they'll fit square.

While I was at it, I pulled the pan to clean out any gunk, changed oil and filter with new gasket, replaced the leaky oil cooler, and built my solid fuel system.

I'm waiting on a connector for the oil cooler fan t-stat and I can drive the thing again.

So, my winter plan is to drive the Vette unless it's wet or snowy/icy.

The list of winter projects on the 87 seems endless on those bitterly cold nights where a wind chills dip into the minus double digits. Turn up the furnace in the shop put on Animal House on DVD and get to work.
87 needs:
Drivers seat lumbar support needs repair.
Change ATF filter and fluid.
Replace front end radiator inlet fascia from rogue truck tire this summer.
Complete cleaning and detailing of the interior.
89 S10 4x4
Rebuild Holley 850 cfm carb on the zz4 engine.
ATF fluid change
Major tuneup on engine.
Replace ball joints and torsion bars.

I'm thinking of putting in a set of these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-04-CORVETT ... p=mtr&hash=item3f0b5ee258

The lighting is so bad on the C5. I put in HID lows and they make it easy to see, but in the stock housings they don't direct the light the way it should and I get flashed occasionally (no, not that kind of flash...darn it).

I've also talked to a guy about touching up the front bumper too. I'd also like to get the ECM flashed with a new program.

Since I live in the midwest, and since I have no heat in my garage, and since I'm a dedicated wuss, my list will definitely be more of a "second quarter 2012" list.

My Vette is in decent shape, so I'm basically looking at small stuff.

1. Hunt down my slightly irritating rough idle.
2. Find out why my transmission shifts so friggin' HARD from 1-2, but nice and smooth from 2-3 and 3-4.
3. Send my original ECM in to be reconditioned.
4. Make new rubber inserts for my targa storage brackets out of rubber gasket material.

I have a project, but it doesn't fall into Matthew's criteria (2011-2012 Winter).

More like 2011-2020.

Answers:
1. A couple
2. A shitload

Seriously, I'm doing this when I feel like it, a couple hours at a time (the way I planned to do it).

I just put in 5 hours in 2 days just restoring the heater box (under the dash with the blend doors, etc.).

Frame's done (except for paint marks/stencils), all the suspension, crossmambers, brackets, a-arms are painted. I need all the trailing arm bearings, wheel bearings, front springs, fuel & brake lines, etc. About $1,200.

The engine's untouched except for all the brackets, disty, coil and small shit is restored. Water pump's half done, have the rebuild kit but I'm trying to find a press on Craig's List for $100.
The Dana's not touched (hoping to just clean it up).
The Muncie M20 needs a complete rebuild kit $200

Nothing's done to the interior, all the molding needs sanded and painted.

Needs $2k in chrome & cad plating done.

The door internals and seals/felts/window tracks need to be completely restored. The wing vent regulators have been taken apart and restored.

Needs $2 - 4k in wheels & tires.

Need to restore the side pipes or get new ones. Same with the fuel tank.

Tail lights are too pitted to be restored, front turn signal lights are restored.

Complete interior carpet/seats/door panels/headliner - $2,500.

Body work is 95% complete, headlight motors restored. The entire engine bay needs done.

New dated windshield -$500

Need brake calipers, alternator restoration (by a pro) starter (by me).

Geeze, now I'm depressed.

Not really, I'm actually having fun. The dirty, rusty shit should be done fairly soon.

The thing with restoring parts is it takes a lot longer than just buying off the shelf stuff and bolting it together. I have about 30 hours in the rear trailing arms already and they haven't been put back together (doing the stub axle bearings and end play will be at least 5 hours).

I've got a few things planned over the winter for the 92.

1. ARH stainless 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped headers and 3" exhaust system.

2. I actually bought the correct Power Master starter for the car to replace the wrong Power Master starter I put on it this summer.

3. Retune. I'm hoping VA Speed will let Ed tune it again after the new exhaust system.

4. New Clutches in the posi unit.

The 79 is running great and I don't have any big projects in mind for it. Pretty much handled all that this summer but there are a few little things left.

1. New TH350 pan and gasket as it's leaking a bit and the stock pan looks like hell.

2. Change a few of those new exhaust clamps to the band clamp style as I can't get one of the pipe connections to stop leaking.

The 76 is now my dads problem as I gave it to him to fix for my mother. All it needed was new brake calipers and paint so I hope he'll be able to devote some time to it.

Boy, this crap takes up time.
I'm 2 1/2 hours into the drive shaft, luckly the U-joints onlt took 45 min. 1:45 in the besd cabinet got most of the rust off but probably another 1/2 hour. Plus the slip yoke, U-clamps and assembly/paint marks will push one part to 5 hours.
Fun though.

I guess when I look at my end goal list I really don't have much left but it's an expensive list.

Engine is all but done...though I am considering converting my Mikuni side draft carbs to throttle bodies so I can essentially fuel inject and keep my side daft carb look.

Interior is done and very comfortable and usable.

Suspension is almost done barring trailing arm rebuild.

Okay, my end all be all list before I call my Vette done.

-Trailing Arm Rebuild-
-Rear End Blueprint Rebuild-
-New Black Paint Job / Minor Body Work-

So that'll be the end of it and I'll be done. Bought it in 1997. Done in ??? 2014 ???

ECS (East Coast Supercharging) does a mail order flash that they have figured based on dyno pulls in various configurations. You tell them what modifications (external add on only) that you have performed and they will come up with a tune that improve throttle response, performance and gas mileage (If you can keep your foot out of it because of the better performance). I've seen/read nothing but great things about them. Cost? $150

For the 1985 (currently in the best shape that it's been since I purchased it in 2004):

1) Get the original antenna rebuilt and replace the service replacement.

2) Replace one (maybe all of them while I'm at it) of the bulbs in the digital cluster.

3) Recalibrate the parking brake to disengage more smoothly.

For the 2003:

1) Clean the undercarriage so Ivelis feels a little better about it.

2) Perhaps some new floormats - ah, the glamour.

For the 2012:

1) Drive it.

My day job keeps me on the road alot, so I have the same basic winter project plans for the past 2 years or so.
Realizing that I have built a motor that crossed the line, I want to continue to improve the tune up, and work out the mechanical bugs.
This way I may get to drive the car once again.
I have given up on the car being pretty, or fast, or winning races. I just want to be able to hit the key, and have some enjoyment.
If I fail to accomplish this, I may pull the 406 out, and put my old, freshened 383 back in it.
After 20 years of owning, modding, racing, and enjoying the car, the fun is gone.
All because I was greedy.
*Let this be a lesson to others.
I have not given up, but I am close.

I have a pretty good list:
1) Installing the ARH headers and exhaust system.
2) Air pump / EGR delete.
3) TB bypass.
4) New valve covers.
5) A GOOD clean up and detailing so hopefully my engine
compartment will look almost as good as forum member

P.S. Somewhere along the way I'm sure I'll be needing help from MATATK and vette tech! lol!!

I should add fix the ac to my list.

Why does it keep getting longer???

Mike - I'm around for any of those tasks....except for the detailing...lol.

Can you believe that I actually got to do a task on the car last night? I managed to find a half hour or so to install the wind deflectors my wife got my a while back as a gift.

I'd have to say that using only the double sided tape would probably be a bad idea. The deflectors are just molded plastic and aren't exactly perfect. So I noticed that after sticking it on, one part seemed to be pulling away. I did rivet them as I had intended already. Overall I'm happy, I just want to figure out how well they work once I start driving it.

I took one or two photos, I'll post them once I get them uploaded.

#2 maybe a broken accumulator spring?

I really didn't have much of a list, my wife's list was build a 383 for it.. after the LT4 upgrades, I wasn't as motivated to build it.. either way I'm still putting it off for a while..

Looking forward to seeing the rollbar.

I talked to the exhaust shop today. He was excited to do the job and had some good ideas. Should be in the works soon.

Wish I could say that about my C2

I did fill the gas tank on the C4, so, it's ready.

Looks like I can add power brake booster to the list.

Make sure you order a brake booster for a 1984 Corvette. It will have a metal housing instead of a plastic one. I killed 3 plastic ones in 2 years (heat warps the plastic housing then they die), then I installed a metal one and it has been holding up perfectly for 2 years or so now. Just paint it before installing it so it doesn't surface rust on you.

For the engine, couldn't you downsize the cam, converter and compression and boost it? I know my cam is larger than I should have went, and the high stall converter is soft for the street at low rpms, but I figure I can always go backward on those if I really want. I decided I wanted more power and not out of the bottle, and a larger cam or converter would just make it less fun on the street. That is my main reason for supercharging. More power, no loss of street manners.

A couple of pics of the exhaust. The two basketweave bulbs you see are flexible exhaust pipe. They absorb the flex from the motor twisting/moving and keep the exhaust tight as well as assisting in lining things up when bolting it up. The rear section that was originally cut by the PO, my exhaust guy sleeved it and made it a slip fit with clamps so I can remove it for maintenance issues on the car. Overall a very nice job and I'm pleased with the work.

Took a step forward on my m/c conversion today. I had a few minutes to tinker so I went out and practiced making an ISO bubble flare. I was a little worried about it since I've never done one. Found a youtube video and it's easier than I thought. The key is really cranking down the flare tool as hard as you can to make the mushroom flat enough. I plan on doing the swap soon.
