As some of you are aware, there has been much talk about, well, what's next.

That next is coming soon. By the end of the month - early March at the latest. It would have been sooner, but the data conversion has been rather complex. Big thanks to bmwgsa for all his time in getting the data sorted out!

For this conversion, we are going to be changing software... and URL, we will no longer be www.c4guru.com... but don't worry, the love we have found with c4guru will not be lost nor wasted. It will survive.

When the conversion gets a little closer, we will announce the down time. For that time the site will not be available - expect four hours. And we mean it.

The other new... software... we are using a product called Xoops. It is shareware, but it brings a LOT of features - and more coming everyday.

It will allow us to grow and gives us a unique identity that other sites running all the vBulletin clones won't have.

There will be a full on classified section... events calendars... a dictionary... the tech library... you name it, it will be available! And if it isn't, it more than likely can be added!

There will be products available... I hope soon, I have been trying to get info from EMI and they are just slow at responding...

We will have some stickers and business cards we can used to put on a Vette's windshield!

And most importantly, we will all be part of something that is growing and getting better!

Wow! Changing the site name is a big step. Will there be a forwarding service? Any other sites that use this software that we can look at?

And yes, I hope the old url will redirect to the new site, at least for some period of time.

The name change is necessary... we need the corvette name in there, which will make the web crawlers and search engines that much better for us...

As soon as things are looking better, I will post a test site.

Red Johnny is absolutely correct - March. I am waiting for word from EMI (the company that handles Corvette licensing) for what we can and can't do.

We have the product ready, all we need is the go word and then the selling can begin!!!!

IB bought up vBulletin, JelSoft is the company.

This is kind of an odd request, but can we make it so that the first word in the URL of the forums in not Corvette.

Where I work, the filter looks at the first word of the URL. Racing, Corvette, tits, hookers, things like that trigger the filter. Forums, C4guru, etc... Do not. The CF home page is un-accessible to me, but the forums are good to go because the first word in the URL is forum, not corvette.

Corvette in the name is all it should take for search engines to find the site, and I bet there are lots of folks like me who look at this site while at work.

Do what i did Josh. Take the IT guy out for lunch and drinks. Tell him your problem, maybe he will set you up.

There are back door websites that will let you view any site through them.

I tried to view the site http://www.xoops.org/ and it's down right now. Let's hope that's not an indication of their level of service.

I must admit that you guys have been really helpful. I hope you guys stay true to the C4. I have signed up to other forums and post here more than at DigitalCorvettes. DC and C4guru are great sites but the C4 section here was more personalized and that is what I really liked.

But hey business is business!! can't wait to see the new software

We've got 2 C4s out front of the house, so I can pretty much guarantee that we won't lose focus on C4s!

The problem with focusing on one vintage is that it limits growth. There are a lot of Vettes out there... and they are all part of the same history. We must reach out.
